Чтение на отжимающей стиралке в мятной прачечной

The washing machine under her shudders into its spin cycle and she bounces slightly with it, laughing, and swings her bare legs; she lowers the paperback, tips her head back against the cold tiled wall and closes her eyes, then glances over at the tumbling drum. The drum spins behind the glass and the fluorescent tube overhead flickers once. Locked-off wide shot, flat cold white light, pale mint green, quiet mechanical hum.
