Refund & Cancellation Policy

Top-ups are non-refundable and paid balance never expires. What we commit to when you call a model, how failed tasks are handled, and how to ask us to check a charge.

Who operates this service. “SpicyAPI” is the trade name of the company that operates the service, and that company is the party you contract with. Every reference below to “we”, “us” or “the operator” means that company.

1. In short

  • Top-ups are non-refundable. Once a payment has been added to your balance, we are unable to refund it, in full or in part, and balance cannot be withdrawn or paid out as cash.
  • Paid balance never expires. It stays on your account with no expiry date, no inactivity fee and no minimum spend.
  • You get the model you call. Your request goes to the model you selected, and the output comes from that model. Results depend on the model itself, so a completed task is charged even when the result isn’t what you hoped for.
  • A failed task normally costs nothing. The amount held for it returns to your balance automatically. The exceptions, set out in section 5, are output you had already received and models whose page says they charge for failed or rejected requests.
  • If a charge looks wrong — for example, an API call that failed but was still charged — contact support and we will look into it.

2. Top-ups are non-refundable

SpicyAPI offers prepaid, usage-based access to AI models through an API. There are no physical goods, no subscription and nothing to ship or return. Balance is added to your account as soon as the payment is confirmed, and you can use it straight away.

Because of this, every top-up is final, and we are unable to offer refunds for:

  • unused or remaining balance;
  • a change of mind, or deciding not to use the service after all;
  • topping up more than you ended up needing;
  • a result that did not meet your expectations (see section 4); or
  • closing your account.

Balance cannot be transferred to another account or exchanged for cash. Before you top up, check the price on the model’s page, and start with a small amount if you are still trying the service out.

3. Paid balance never expires

Balance you paid for has no expiry date. It is not reduced by inactivity, and there is no maintenance fee and no minimum monthly spend. It stays available until you spend it or close your account.

Promotional or bonus balance works a little differently. It has no cash value, may apply only to certain models, and may carry an expiry date that is shown when it is granted. When it expires it is removed; it never turns into cash or into paid balance.

4. What we commit to, and what depends on the model

What we commit to. When you call a model, we send your request to that model, as it is named and described on its page — including any notes there about its version, or about how a particular option is produced, such as an upscaled resolution. We do not quietly swap in a different or cheaper model, and what you are charged reflects the task that actually ran.

What depends on the model. Every AI model has its own strengths and limits, and the output is produced by the model, not written or edited by us. Results vary from run to run, and a model can sometimes fall short of what you had in mind — for example, by toning down or leaving out part of a request, including mature content, or by returning a result whose quality, accuracy or style is not what you expected. The content-filtering labels, examples and descriptions on our pages come from our own testing and are meant as a guide; they cannot guarantee how a particular request will turn out.

For that reason, a task that completes is charged at the price shown, and we are not able to refund it because the result did not meet your expectations. We recommend reading the model’s page and trying a small request before running many. If a model does not seem to behave the way its page describes, please tell us — it helps us keep those pages accurate.

5. Failed tasks

When you submit a task, its estimated cost is held from your available balance. If the task fails, or times out without producing a billable result, the full amount held returns to your available balance automatically. You are not charged, and you do not need to contact us. The amount is normally back as soon as the task reaches its final failed state.

There are two exceptions, and both cover only work that was actually carried out:

  • Output you already received. If a request stops part-way after a model has started sending you its answer — for example, you disconnect while text is streaming, or the model stops or rejects the request after part of its output has reached you — you are charged for the usage delivered up to that point.
  • Models that charge for failed or rejected requests. Some model services bill a request even when it is rejected, for example by the model’s own safety check, or when it fails after processing has started. Where a model is billed this way, its page says so, and that charge applies to failed requests on that model.

In either case, you are never charged more than the amount held when you submitted the task.

6. Charges we will look into

Now and then a charge can be wrong because of a fault on our side or in a payment. Please contact support if you see:

  • a task that failed, returned an error or timed out but was still charged outside the exceptions in section 5, or whose held amount was not returned within 24 hours;
  • the same task charged more than once;
  • a task charged more than the amount held when you submitted it;
  • a task recorded as successful without its output being delivered; or
  • a top-up charged more than once, or a payment that went through but never reached your balance.

We check the task and payment records, and if we confirm an error, we put it right — normally by crediting the affected amount back to your SpicyAPI balance, or by adding a payment that never arrived. Correcting a billing error is not a refund of a top-up, and it does not change anything else in this policy.

7. How to contact us

Open a conversation on the Support page in the console, or email support@spicyapi.ai from the address on your SpicyAPI account. It helps to include:

  • your account email;
  • the task ID, or the top-up order ID;
  • the date, time and amount of the charge; and
  • a short description of what went wrong.

Never send a full card number, password, API key or bank credential. We may ask for a little more information to verify the account or the payment. We reply once we have reviewed the records; how long that takes depends on the case and, for payments, on the payment processor.

8. Cancellation

SpicyAPI does not sell a subscription, so there is no plan or renewal to cancel.

If you explicitly enable automatic top-up, you can disable it at any time in the console. Disabling stops future top-ups. It does not reverse a top-up that has already been paid, which is non-refundable like any other.

A task starts processing as soon as it is accepted and cannot be cancelled after submission, so check the model, the inputs and the price before you send it. A task that later fails is handled as described in section 5.

You can stop using the service, revoke your API keys or close your account at any time. Closing your account forfeits any remaining balance, which is not refunded or paid out, so you may want to spend it first. See the Terms of Service for the closure process.

If something looks wrong with a payment, please contact us before disputing it with your bank or card issuer — we can usually fix a billing error faster that way. A chargeback does not create a right to a refund under this policy, and we may suspend the affected balance while the dispute is open.

Nothing in this policy limits a right that the law where you live does not allow to be excluded by agreement.
