One base image — the original with the separated elements removed and the background filled in — plus up to 16 layers, each a transparent PNG holding one element. The base follows the output format you choose; layers are always PNG. Layer files are often higher resolution than the area they cover, so scale each one into its box when you composite.

How do Seedream 5.0 Flash and 5.0 Pro differ for this task?

Pro returns a bounding box and a name for every layer, so the result can be rebuilt on a canvas; the Playground lets you hide, drag and export the layers. Flash returns the layers in stacking order without positions, which suits standalone cut-outs, and costs less per image. In our tests Flash split the milder test images but declined the stronger ones, while Pro handled both.

Can I choose which elements get separated?

Yes. Leave the prompt empty and the model picks the main elements itself, or name the ones you want. To point at a region, add a bbox tag with four coordinates to the prompt, on a 0–1000 scale with the origin at the top left. On Flash a prompt, if you write one, needs at least three characters.

Per image returned, in US dollars: the base counts as one image and each layer as another, up to 17 in total. The maximum is held when the task is accepted and the difference is released when it settles, so a picture that splits into five layers costs six images. Failed or timed-out tasks are usually not charged. Some models charge for content refusals as stated on their model page; check those billing terms before submitting.
