Qwen Image 2.1 Turbo is the accelerated version of Qwen Image 2.1 that Alibaba's Qwen team released with open weights on 9 October 2026: the same 7B model for generating and editing images, accelerated to run in 8 denoising steps instead of the 40 in the base model's official examples. SpicyAPI serves it from 13 October 2026 as text-to-image (alibaba/qwen-image-2.1-turbo/text-to-image) and edit (alibaba/qwen-image-2.1-turbo/edit).

Text zu Bild
Cinematic photograph of an adult woman in her late twenties sitting sideways on the wide windowsill of a high-rise apartment at night, a black silk slip dress with one thin strap slipped off her shoulder, bare legs drawn up, rain streaking the glass behind her and the city blurred into magenta and teal neon, her face and collarbone lit by one warm reading lamp from the left, looking at the camera with a calm half-smile. 50mm lens, shallow depth of field, fine film grain.
Cinematic film still in a dim, smoky jazz bar after midnight: an adult man and an adult woman in their thirties slow dancing close at the edge of the stage, her backless red satin dress, his dark suit jacket off and white shirt open at the collar, his hand resting at the small of her bare back, foreheads almost touching, eyes closed. A saxophonist blurred in amber light behind them, empty tables, cigarette-free haze in the spotlight. 35mm anamorphic, shallow depth of field, rich film grain.
Vintage 1950s cabaret poster with a screen-printed texture on cream paper: an adult woman in a sequined emerald gown with a high leg slit reclines on a golden crescent moon, one arm raised behind her head, an art deco frame of gold lines around her. At the top, large gold serif capitals read "VELVET HOUR". At the bottom, smaller black letters read "LATE SHOW · FRIDAYS 11 PM". Palette of cream, emerald, gold and black, no other text.
Golden-hour photograph of an adult man in his thirties on a whitewashed balcony on a Greek island, white linen shirt fully unbuttoned and open over a tanned chest, sleeves rolled, leaning back on the blue railing with a glass of white wine, sea and a cluster of white houses behind him, warm side light from the setting sun, relaxed confident smile at the camera. 85mm, medium-format film look, sun-bleached palette.
Keep the woman's face, hair and expression from Image 1. Change her dark velvet dress into a backless crimson satin gown with thin straps and turn her so she glances back over her bare shoulder toward the camera, one hand resting on the vintage microphone stand. A single warm spotlight from above, a smoky dark club behind her, photorealistic.
Put the man from Image 1 and the woman from Image 2 together on the city rooftop from Image 1 at dusk. He keeps his open white shirt; she wears a short black satin slip dress with thin straps instead of her velvet dress. They lean on the ledge side by side, laughing, her hand on his chest, the skyline glowing orange and violet behind them. Keep both faces recognisable, photorealistic, warm low light.
On 13 October we ran our standard content test on both endpoints at the default settings: six probe types, three runs each, from L1 Suggestive to both kinds of L5 Extreme. All 36 runs came back exactly as asked. Together with the 23 requests of our first round the same day, not one request was refused. There is one condition, and it matters more than any other setting: leave enable_prompt_expansion off, which is the default on SpicyAPI. With it on, Alibaba's prompt rewriter toned several adult requests down, and an edit that asked to remove a top came back as the unchanged source photo, billed like any other image.
Pick Turbo for uncensored stills and photo edits when you want one flat price per image at every size, legible quoted text, and edits that leave alone what you did not ask to change. Look elsewhere if you need a negative prompt, a mask, a choice of file format or your own LoRA, or if your prompts depend on exact counts and physical logic: in our quality set it drew four balloons for five and stopped a "filled to the brim" wine glass well short of the rim.
How it scores. The Spicy Index and Freedom Score are on this page's score card, computed from the test records; check the card rather than a number printed here. Our blind test scored it 71.4 out of 100: prompt adherence 68.8 and image quality 71.8 (14 questions each), edit consistency 77.0 (six edit questions), with images made and judged on 13 October 2026. On the same questions and anchors, Nano Banana 2.1 scored 75.6 (7 October). Split by task, Turbo's edits scored well above its text-to-image, and against base Qwen Image 2.1 on the same questions (judged in late September) its text-to-image image quality rated lower while its edits rated higher. Three AI judges from different makers scored blind, and there were too few text questions to publish a text sub-score.
Content limits: SpicyAPI adds no filter of its own, and the page label is Uncensored. With prompt expansion off, 36 of 36 standard runs and 44 of 45 adult requests overall came back as asked on 13 October 2026; one request at L4 came back softened and none was refused.
Scores: the headline Spicy Index and Freedom Score are computed live on this page; the text quotes only the blind-test components from 13 October.
Price: $0.0144 an image on both endpoints, the same at 1k, 1.5k and 2k and whatever the number of source images; asking for more outputs in one request bills each image. The model page shows the current price.
Text-to-image parameters:prompt (up to 5,000 characters), num_outputs (1 to 6), aspect_ratio (15 options, default 1:1), resolution (1k, 1.5k or 2k, default 2k), enable_prompt_expansion (default off), enable_thinking (default on), prompt_optimization_mode (direct or agent) and seed.
Edit parameters: the same without prompt_optimization_mode, plus image_urls (1 to 10 source images). Leave aspect_ratio unset and the result keeps the shape of your source at about 4 megapixels.
Not available: negative prompt, mask, a choice of output format (every result is a PNG), a background setting and LoRA weights.
Speed: most images took 20 to 30 seconds in our runs; the full spread was 13 to 58 seconds for text-to-image and 22 to 59 seconds for edits.
Was uns gefallen hat und was es bremst
Was uns gefallen hat
Every standard content run delivered. 18 of 18 on text-to-image and 18 of 18 on edit, L1 to L5, with the defaults and no refusals.
One price for every size. A 2K image costs the same as a 1K one, so there is no reason to draft small and pay twice.
Quoted text comes out spelled right. "VELVET HOUR" and "LATE SHOW · FRIDAYS 11 PM" on a poster, "OPEN 24 HOURS" on a neon sign and "GOOD MORNING" printed on a mug, letter for letter.
Edits leave the rest alone. A neon relight kept the man's face and sweater, a person vanished cleanly from a beach, a cabin got a snowfall without the camera moving, and a sneaker moved to a pink studio unchanged. Its blind-test edit consistency came in at 77.0, above its adherence and image-quality scores.
Two photos become one frame. A man from one photo and a woman from another ended up laughing on the same rooftop, both faces recognisable.
Up to six images per request, each a separate image at the same price, and a seed for fair side-by-side comparisons.
Prompt expansion is off by default here. You get the prompt you wrote, not a rewrite of it.
Was es bremst
Prompt expansion tones adult prompts down. With it on, an L3 request came back covered, an intimate scene became an embrace, restraint came back in lingerie, and two edits returned the source photo untouched and billed.
One intimate scene came back softened even with expansion off: two adults, the requested action not drawn. It was 1 of 8 requests at L4 with expansion off in our tests.
Text-to-image trails the edits. In our blind test the judges rated its text-to-image clearly below its edits, and on the same questions its image quality rated below base Qwen Image 2.1.
Counting and physical logic slip. Four balloons instead of five, and a wine glass meant to be filled to the brim stopped well below the rim.
Strong restyling stays timid. A "loose watercolor painting" edit of a city street came back as a photograph with a light paper texture.
No negative prompt, mask or format choice. Every result is a PNG, several megabytes at 2K, so plan storage and bandwidth.
Small invented text is filler. Engraving on a watch caseback we did not spell out came back as nonsense lettering.
Eight steps is not instant. Expect around half a minute per image, and up to a minute now and then.
What the images look like
The gallery holds published examples from the Qwen Image 2.1 Turbo model page, all made with prompt expansion off. Everything in it shows clothed adults, suggestive at most; our content-test images are not shown, and we report those results in words.
Low light and neon. A woman sits sideways on a rain-streaked high-rise windowsill at night in a black slip dress, one strap off her shoulder, the city behind her blurred into magenta and teal. One warm reading lamp lights her face and collarbone, as the prompt asked.
Two people, one moment. In a smoky jazz bar after midnight, a couple slow-dance at the edge of the stage, her backless red satin dress against his white shirt, a saxophonist blurred in amber behind them. One detail drifted: the prompt took his jacket off, and the image kept it on.
Lettering. A 1950s cabaret poster with a screen-print texture: a woman in an emerald sequined gown reclines on a gold crescent moon, "VELVET HOUR" in gold serif capitals above her and "LATE SHOW · FRIDAYS 11 PM" below, both spelled exactly.
A man at golden hour. On a whitewashed Greek balcony, a man in an open white linen shirt leans on the blue railing with a glass of wine, sea and white houses behind him.
Edits from one source. From a photo of a singer in a dark velvet dress, the edit changed the dress to a backless crimson satin gown and turned her to glance back over her shoulder, keeping her face, hair and the vintage microphone stand.
Edits from two sources. A man on a rooftop and the singer were combined into one frame at dusk, him in his open white shirt, her in a short black slip dress, both laughing at the ledge with the skyline behind them. Both faces stayed recognisable.
Our quality set. On 13 October we also ran the 14 questions we use for every image model's blind test (8 text-to-image, 6 edits), at the 2k default with prompt expansion off. Hands showing three and two fingers were right, six diners were six, and both text questions were spelled correctly. The misses were the ones listed above: four balloons for five, a wine glass short of the brim and a watercolor edit that stayed photographic.
Sizes. The 2k tier gave 2048 x 2048 at 1:1, 2688 x 1536 at 16:9 and 1760 x 2368 at 3:4; 1k at 2:3 gave 832 x 1248. Edits without aspect_ratio kept the source's shape: a 1344 x 768 source came back at 2704 x 1536.
Prompts that worked
Write a short brief, not a keyword list: the medium first ("Cinematic photograph of…"), then the person with an age, the wardrobe and the setting, then one light source and a lens or film note. Put any text you need in double quotes with its position and style. For edits, name each source by its number ("Image 1"), say what changes, and say what must stay. Keep prompt expansion off so your words reach the model as written, and keep every person an adult.

The closing instruction against extra text keeps the model from adding filler lines of its own.
3. Edit, new wardrobe and pose from one photo. One source in image_urls, aspect_ratio left unset.

Weak: "five balloons on a bench" and trusting the count, or "turn it into a watercolor" and expecting a painting. Strong: spell out each colour and position you need, and for heavy restyling describe the brushwork, the paper and the washes you want to see.
How far it goes
SpicyAPI adds no content filter, and the page label is Uncensored. On 13 October 2026 we tested both endpoints in two rounds, with adult subjects only, and checked every image by eye. The levels are L1 Suggestive (lingerie, a slipping strap), L2 Partial, L3 Strong, L4 Intense (an intimate scene between two adults) and L5 Extreme, in two kinds: consensual restraint between adults, and cinematic gore. Readings below are delivered / softened / refused.
Our standard test, at the defaults: 36 of 36. Six probe types with three runs each per endpoint, prompt expansion off, thinking on, 2k text-to-image and edits from our own source photos:

For restraint we counted a run only when both the restraint and the strike, or its marks, were drawn; for gore, only when the wound itself was drawn. Every run met that bar.
The first round agrees. Earlier the same day, nine adult requests with expansion off delivered as asked, except one L4 request that came back with both adults present and the requested action not drawn. Across both rounds with expansion off, 44 of 45 adult requests came back as asked and that L4 request was the one softened result.
Prompt expansion changes the picture. The same first round also ran with enable_prompt_expansion on, the setting Alibaba uses by default on its own service. The rewriter softened one of three L3 requests (the body covered by a sheet and hands), turned the intimate scene into an embrace and kept lingerie on in the restraint scene. On edit it went further: both requests to remove a top came back as the unchanged source photo, completed and billed. Turning thinking off did not change this. That is why SpicyAPI ships expansion off; turn it on only for safe-for-work prompts that benefit from a richer rewrite.
Across all 73 requests we sent on 13 October, including 14 safe-for-work quality questions, nothing was refused. This section's gallery shows two published examples at the suggestive end; the content-test images are described here and not shown.
Not tested yet: an illustration or anime style instead of photography, scenes with two men or two women, and repeat runs with expansion on.
Adults only, in every prompt and every source photo. Never prompt for or upload a real person's likeness without consent, never depict anyone who could read as a minor, and keep your outputs private unless you have the right to share them; you are responsible for what you generate and publish.
Alternatives
The full-step base model?Qwen Image 2.1 is the same 7B model at its usual step count, and on SpicyAPI it adds a mask for local edits, a choice of output format and a background setting, priced by size. On the same blind-test questions its text-to-image image quality rated higher than Turbo's. See our Qwen Image 2.1 review.

FAQ zu Qwen Image 2.1 Turbo
Yes, with prompt expansion off, which is the default. In our tests on 13 October 2026, 36 of 36 standard runs across both endpoints came back exactly as asked, from L1 Suggestive to both kinds of L5 Extreme, and nothing was refused in either round. SpicyAPI adds no content filter.
Not for adult content. Expansion sends your prompt through Alibaba's rewriter first. In our tests it toned down several adult requests, and two edits came back as the unchanged source photo and were still billed. For safe-for-work prompts it can add detail; leave it off when you want your own wording.
$0.0144 an image on text-to-image and on edit, at every resolution and with any number of source images, checked on 14 October 2026. Each image in a multi-image request is billed separately. The model page always shows the current price.
Turbo is the same 7B model, accelerated by the Qwen team to run in 8 steps. On SpicyAPI, Turbo has one flat price per image and lets you ask for up to six images per request; the base model has a mask for local edits, a choice of output format and a background setting. Both take up to 10 source images for editing.
No, this endpoint takes no LoRA weights. Use Qwen Image 2.1 LoRA for that.
No. This is the official Turbo checkpoint from the Qwen team. Community turbo versions, such as Viggle's, are LoRAs on top of the base model with their own step counts.
Most of our images came back in 20 to 30 seconds, measured from submission to result with a 4-second polling interval. Text-to-image never took more than 58 seconds in our runs, and edits never more than 59.
