Wan 3.0 Pro Review: Uncensored Up to 4K, With Sound

Pick Wan 3.0 Pro for uncensored takes above 1080p; for cheap drafts or a tight budget, the base Wan 3.0 does the same content job for less.

Wan 3.0 Pro is Wan 3.0 with the resolution ceiling lifted: 1080p, 2K or native 4K on all three tasks, sound rendered into the same file, and takes up to 30 seconds long. In our 15 to 24 September runs it rendered every rung we tried — L1 Suggestive through L4 Intense — across text, image and reference input, with no refusals and no softened clips. Our L5a probe rendered too, though we've only run it once per task so far, not enough to call a reliable rate.

The verdict

The resolution is the real reason to pay more here than for the base model: image-to-video and reference-to-video hold up at 4K well enough to survive a crop, and it followed a stylised "stop-motion claymation" instruction where the base Wan 3.0 ignored the style entirely and rendered a photorealistic animal instead. If you don't need above 1080p, that difference alone may not be worth the price gap.

Key facts

  • Content: all three endpoints carry the Uncensored label; see How far it goes for what we actually tested.
  • Price: $0.144 per second at 1080p, $0.16 at 2K and $0.184 at 4K; a 5-second clip runs $0.72 to $0.92 depending on resolution.
  • Limits: 2 to 30 seconds per take, native rendering up to 4K, up to 10 images, 5 video clips and 5 audio clips as references.
  • Sources: every scored run is in the Wan 3.0 Pro test report, the scoring rules are on our review methodology page, and the full parameter list is on the Wan 3.0 Pro model page.

What we liked and what held it back

What we liked

  • Every rung we tried rendered, on every task. L1 Suggestive through L4 Intense came back as written on text, image and reference input alike during our testing window, with nothing refused and nothing softened.
  • Lip sync that blind judges called near-perfect. On a close-up delivering the line "I missed you so much," one reviewer wrote that the mouth shapes matched the words perfectly and the mood matched the prompt.
  • It respects a stylised instruction where its sibling doesn't. Given a "stop-motion claymation" snail scene, Wan 3.0 Pro rendered a glossy toy-clay look with visible seams; the non-Pro Wan 3.0 rendered a fully photorealistic snail instead, ignoring the style entirely.
  • Native 4K holds up on a crop. A garment reference rendered at 4K stayed sharp enough for both a wide banner crop and a vertical crop from the same master file.
  • Both ends of a shot can be pinned, at any resolution. Image-to-video takes an opening frame and an optional closing frame; a mountain-climb example we reviewed started at the trailhead and landed exactly on the supplied summit frame.
  • Reference-to-video keeps the cast straight across a time jump. One reference run held the same two people and the same apartment across three different times of day in a single clip, using image references for identity and the room.

What held it back

  • Physics and props are the weak spot, not people. Blind judges flagged a wine glass shattering with "floaty" shards, a wok-toss scene with barely any real tossing motion, and fingers that deformed slightly during a guitar-strumming close-up.
  • A "turn toward camera" instruction doesn't always land square. In one of our side-by-side runs, the subject turned and glanced upward instead of meeting the lens, where a sibling version in the same test held the gaze on camera.
  • You're paying for resolution you may not use. At $0.144 to $0.184 a second depending on tier, it costs noticeably more than the base Wan 3.0's $0.045 to $0.09 range for a job that only needs 1080p or less.
  • Our L5a sample is thin. We've only run that probe once per task so far; treat it as "it rendered when we tried it," not as a settled pass rate the way L1-through-L4 is after three runs each.
  • No entry-level tier. The base Wan 3.0 starts cheaper at 480p for quick drafts; here 1080p is the floor.
  • It's built for one continuous take, not a scene with hard cuts. Reference video counted toward your output adds to the total against the 30-second cap, so plan multi-shot sequences as separate calls stitched afterward.

What the images look like

Our audio batch put Wan 3.0 Pro through six speaking, singing and sound-effect prompts, judged blind by three reviewers who didn't know the model names. The clearest win was dialogue: a close-up delivery of a warm, simple line scored top marks across the board for lip sync, expression and audio quality, and a "we did it" emotional beat with tears and a laugh convinced two of three judges completely, with the third noting the laugh transition felt a little static. Sound effects were shakier — a wok toss over flame drew comments that the vegetables barely moved and looked more like noodles than produce, and a wine glass shattering on stone came back with shards judges called "floaty" rather than physically grounded.

On the non-audio side, a side-by-side comparison against three sibling Wan 3.0 versions on the same "turn toward camera, run fingers through hair" prompt showed near-identical wardrobe and lighting fidelity across all of them, with Wan 3.0 Pro the one clip where the turn ended in an upward glance rather than eye contact with the lens — a small miss worth checking for if your shot depends on a direct look. On a coffee pour-over prompt, though, Pro's bloom and bubble detail on the grounds matched the more expensive Pro Prime tier closely, both clearly ahead of the plainer base render.

The gallery holds published, safe-for-work examples from the Wan 3.0 Pro model page:

Jet wash at the fence. Two people at a runway perimeter fence as an aircraft passes low overhead, the wash flattening their clothes against them — written from nothing, rendered with sound.

A slow turn in the rain. A perfume-commercial turn away from a window, water flicking from her hair as the fabric catches a single hard key light down her spine.

Steam on the mirror. An embrace shot entirely from behind, at native 4K, steam rolling up between two people and fogging the glass.

Three times of day, one cast. The same two people and the same apartment carried across morning, dusk and night in a single reference-to-video call.

Prompts that worked

Write Wan 3.0 Pro like a shot list: who, what they're wearing, one action, one camera move, the light, and whether sound is on. On image-to-video the opening frame already carries wardrobe and set, so spend the prompt on motion alone. On reference-to-video, name what each reference is for — a face, a room, a garment — or the model averages them into someone who matches none of them.

1. Jet wash at the fence. The exact prompt behind the runway clip above, written from nothing.

text
Cast: one man and one woman. The camera stays on the two of them as the aircraft passes over. Two people stand at the perimeter fence watching an aircraft come down at night; the jet wash presses their clothes flat against them as it passes. The jet wash flattens the fabric against a bare waist and chest; close on the two of them at the fence. Cinematic, heavy film grain, runway sodium and navy.

2. Motion only, on your own still (image-to-video). Upload your opening frame, then paste only the movement.

text
She turns her shoulders slowly toward camera and the silk strap slides down her arm, her breath settling as she stops. Slow push-in, one hard key from the left, rain on the window behind her.

3. Same cast, three times of day (reference-to-video). Upload identity and set references, then name each time jump.

text
The camera stays on the same two people in all three. The same two people, the same apartment, three times of day: morning light across a bare back in the sheets, dusk with her sitting on the kitchen counter in his shirt, night with the two of them on the balcony sharing one cigarette. Same faces, same room, rendered at 4K. Cinematic, shallow depth of field, heavy film grain, warm interior against cold window light.

Weak: "Couple in a loft, camera moves around them." Wan 3.0 Pro fills in the people, the room and the camera path itself. Strong: prompt 1 or 3. Every choice named, resolution set on purpose.

How far it goes

Our content ladder runs L1 Suggestive (lingerie, a slipping strap) through L2 Partial and L3 Strong to L4 Intense (an intimate scene between two adults), plus L5 Extreme, which we've so far tested here with one L5a probe (consensual adult restraint and impact play) per task. We ran the main ladder on all three tasks between 15 and 24 September 2026.

L1 through L4 all rendered as written, every run, on text, image and reference input alike — no refusals, no softened substitutes. The L5 Extreme probe also rendered on each task the one time we tried it; we haven't run enough repeats yet to call that a settled rate, only that it wasn't refused or toned down the first time.

The page label is Uncensored on all three endpoints: we add no content filter on our side. The Wan versions that soften or refuse the same prompts are covered in our uncensored Wan test.

Not tested yet: repeat runs of the L5a probe to confirm a stable rate; the L5b (cinematic gore) probe; scenes with two women or two men; real photographs as reference-to-video input, which this family line's face check has been known to refuse.

Adults only, in every prompt, still and output. No real, identifiable person without their consent, and you need the rights to every file you upload.
