spicyapi/video-translator-v1/video-translate

The clip to translate, 1 second to 10 minutes. The picture comes back unchanged. It must be a direct link to the video file — a page that plays the video hands us HTML instead and the call fails with the charge refunded. Uploading the file is the most reliable route. Its length sets the price, in started minutes. at least 1 characters

Same video, another language — dubbed in the speakers' own voices

Send a clip of people talking and pick a language. The speech is transcribed, translated and voiced again in time with the original lines; the music and effects can stay underneath, and the picture comes back frame for frame as it was. Every result also comes with a subtitle file of the translation.

Why dub with Video Translator

  • The speakers still sound like themselves

With clone_voice on, our two-person test came back in Spanish with the woman and the man each in their own timbre, and every line started where the original line started.

  • Keep the score or strip it

keep_background_audio is on by default, so music, room tone and effects stay under the new voices. Switch it off and you get the translated voices alone, with silence between lines, ready for your own mix.

  • Names come out the way you want

List fixed terms in glossary, up to 100 pairs. Give the same text on both sides to keep a name or a brand untranslated.

  • One price per started minute

A 50-second clip costs one minute, a 70-second clip two. Cloned voices, background removal and the language you pick don't change the price; the live rate is at the top of this page.

How to call Video Translator

  1. Start from the clip

Upload the video or link straight to the MP4 file; a page that only plays the video fails, with the charge refunded. Clear speech without a loud score dubs best. Up to 10 minutes per request.

  2. Pick the languages

Set target_language; it must differ from the language spoken. Leave source_language on auto, or set it when there is music under the voice, a heavy accent or long pauses — that is when detection gives up.

  3. Tune the voices and the mix, then poll

Turn on clone_voice, set speaker_count (1 to 4) if you know it, add glossary terms and choose keep_background_audio. Create the task, poll or take a callback, then download the MP4 and the .srt.

Real results from our test runs

  • Wine-cellar dialogue, English to Spanish

An eight-second 1280×720 scene with a woman and a man, dubbed with clone_voice on, speaker_count 2 and one glossary entry. Both kept their own voice, the cellar ambience stayed under the lines, and the glossary phrase was used in both lines where it came up. Turn the sound on and compare.

  • Whispered French over a guitar, to English with the music removed

An eight-second close-up with soft guitar under the voice, dubbed into English with source_language set to French and keep_background_audio off. The result carries the English voice and nothing else. With automatic detection this clip failed and was refunded, which is why the spoken language is set.

Video Translator questions

Where it fits

Video Translator changes what you hear, not what you see: mouths keep moving to the original words. For close-ups where that shows, send the dubbed clip and its new audio to Lip Sync afterwards (3 to 60 seconds per call). Adding sound effects to a silent clip? Do that first with Video Sound Effects and dub with the background kept. Sharpen the final cut last with Video Upscaler.
