Seedance 2.0 Spicy is ByteDance's uncensored image-to-video endpoint on the 2.0 line: send an opening frame and it hands back 4 to 15 seconds at up to 4K, sound rendered in the same pass. Between 15 and 25 September 2026 it passed 17 of 19 runs across our content ladder; the one rung that split was L4 Intense (an intimate scene between two adults), where one of three runs came back as written and two were softened.

The verdict

Here's the catch: base Seedance 2.0 hit almost the identical split on its own image-to-video task, tested on the same ordinary account, at 39% less per second. What Spicy adds is coverage on rungs base 2.0's image-to-video task hasn't been run against yet, and a dedicated, single-purpose endpoint that doesn't have to also serve text-to-video or reference-to-video the way base 2.0's contract does. Pick Spicy when you want that guarantee in writing; pick base 2.0 when you're working from a budget and don't need the extra rungs on record.

How it scores. The Spicy Index and Freedom Score are on this page's score card, recalculated as runs are added; see How far it goes for what the ladder actually tested.

Key facts

  • Pass rate: 17 of 19 content-ladder runs came back as asked between 15 and 25 Sep 2026; the miss was two of three L4 Intense runs, both softened rather than refused.
  • Price: $0.114 per second at 480p, $0.228 at 720p, $0.57 at 1080p and $1.14 at 4K — 5% below ByteDance's own list price for this tier at every resolution.
  • Limits: image-to-video only, 4 to 15 seconds per take, 480p/720p/1080p/4K, 7 aspect ratios plus adaptive, no seed.
  • Sources: every scored run is in the Seedance 2.0 Spicy test report, the scoring rules are on our review methodology page, and the full parameter list is on the Seedance 2.0 Spicy model page.

What we liked and what held it back

What we liked

  • 4K from a still, no upscale note attached. Unlike some of ByteDance's later spicy tiers, the 4K here is the model's own render, not an enlarged 1080p pass.
  • Sound in the same request. generate_audio renders alongside the picture; there's no separate audio step and no extra charge for turning it on.
  • It reads short, plain instructions correctly. In our own side-by-side test, a two-person kiss prompt landed exactly as written — the two women closed the gap from a forehead-touch to a full kiss across the clip, fully dressed the whole time, faces staying consistent and lit by the candelabra rather than washing out.
  • It commits to a turn. A window-facing prompt asking a woman to turn toward camera and run her fingers through her hair played out in full: she turns, faces the lens, hand through hair, silk dress picking up the skyline's colour behind her — no cut away from the motion asked for.
  • Nine of nine on L1 through L3. All three suggestive, partial and full rungs came back exactly as asked across our ladder runs, nothing covered or swapped in.
  • Both L5 Extreme probes render. The restraint-and-impact probe rendered on all four runs, and the cinematic-gore probe rendered on all three.

What held it back

  • It costs more than base Seedance 2.0 for a similar result. At 480p, base 2.0's image-to-video task split its L4 runs the same way ours found on Spicy — one rendered, two softened — while charging 39% less per second. Spicy's edge is the extra rungs it's been run against (see How far it goes), not a cleaner L4 pass rate.
  • Image-to-video only. Base 2.0 also does text-to-video and reference-to-video from the same family; Spicy is a single contract.
  • No seed. Two identical requests come back as two different takes; keep the file you like rather than planning to regenerate it.
  • It can go further than the prompt asked. In our own testing, one ordinary, non-sensual motion prompt (a man turning to face camera on a foggy bridge, nothing suggestive in the wording) came back with unrequested L3 Strong content. Review outputs before you publish them, especially on prompts that put a person alone in frame.
  • L4 Intense is the one rung that isn't reliable. Two of three runs stopped short of the requested scene; budget for a retry if that rung is what you need.
  • 4K costs ten times the 480p rate. $1.14 per second against $0.114; draft at 480p and only render the keeper at 4K.

What the clips look like

We ran a small side-by-side test of our own across several models on the same prompts, plus the published, safe-for-work examples on the Seedance 2.0 Spicy model page. Our content-ladder clips aren't shown; we report the pass rate only.

A near-kiss that becomes one. On the same "two women lean in, foreheads touching, share a slow gentle kiss" prompt we ran across several models, Seedance 2.0 Spicy closed the distance convincingly across the take: the framing held, the candlelight kept flickering naturally over both faces, and by the end of the clip the kiss itself is unambiguous rather than implied.

A full turn to camera. Asked for a woman to turn from a window toward the lens and run her fingers through her hair, it played the whole beat: she pivots, faces camera, the green silk catches the sunset-lit skyline behind her, and her hand moves through her hair exactly where the prompt put it. No cut, no camera drift away from the action.

A locked, monochromatic scene from the gallery. In the darkroom example, a single red safelight and a print lifted dripping from a tray strip away almost every colour cue the model normally leans on — a harder test of how the render holds shape under one narrow light source, and it holds.

Dust in a shaft of light. The library example asks for a plume of dust to catch a beam of low sun as a book comes off a shelf — a physically fussy detail rather than a person moving, and one the model renders as a coherent, glittering cloud rather than a flat overlay.

Prompts that worked

Seedance 2.0 Spicy treats the opening frame as the entire cast, wardrobe and set; the prompt only needs to say what happens next, in order. Naming a light source and a camera instruction gets further than piling on adjectives.

1. A slow turn to camera. Based on the prompt behind our window-turn test.

text
She turns from the window toward the camera, the silk dress catching the city light, and slowly runs her fingers through her hair.

Run this prompt on Seedance 2.0 Spicy →

2. A wipe through fogged glass. The exact prompt behind the mirror-lean example.

text
She wipes a wider streak through the fogged mirror, steam curling back across the glass, then leans in closer to her reflection and exhales, the robe slipping a little further off her shoulder. Slow push toward the mirror, warm vanity bulbs.

Run this prompt on Seedance 2.0 Spicy →

3. A single, narrow light source. The exact prompt behind the darkroom example — useful for testing how a model holds shape under one colour of light.

text
She rocks the developer tray with the tongs, then lifts the dripping print up into the red safelight and turns it to look at it, glancing sideways at the camera. The open shirt slides further off one shoulder. Slow dolly in, safelight steady.

Run this prompt on Seedance 2.0 Spicy →

Weak: "She's in a bathrobe by the mirror." Nothing to move, no light named, no camera instruction — the model has to invent all three. Strong: prompt 2. Same still, every choice made for it.

How far it goes

Between 15 and 25 September 2026 we ran Seedance 2.0 Spicy across our full content ladder: L1 Suggestive (lingerie, a slipping strap), L2 Partial and L3 Strong each passed three runs out of three. L4 Intense (an intimate scene between two adults) split — one of three came back as asked, two were softened. L5 Extreme, tested here as two separate probes — L5a (consensual restraint and impact play between adults) and L5b (cinematic gore) — rendered on all four and all three runs respectively. The page label is Uncensored: we add no content filter on our side.

Freedom Score: on this page's score card, recalculated as runs are added.

Base Seedance 2.0's image-to-video task split its own L4 runs the same way in our tests, at a lower price; where Spicy pulls ahead is the L5b gore probe, which base 2.0's image-to-video task hasn't been run against in our test set.

Separately, in a small side-by-side test across several models on ordinary, non-sensual prompts, this family produced unrequested NSFW content on one clip of a man turning on a foggy bridge — nothing in the wording asked for it. It's worth knowing before you publish anything unreviewed.

Not tested yet: the reference-to-video or text-to-video contract (this endpoint only takes an opening frame); the 15-second upper end of the duration range on the ladder; real photographs as the opening still.

Adults only, in every still, prompt and output. Never depict a real, identifiable person without their consent.

Alternatives

  • The same family, more tasks, for less? Seedance 2.0: also carries the Uncensored label on our platform, adds text-to-video and reference-to-video, and starts at $0.07 per second at 480p — 39% less than Spicy at the same resolution. Our Seedance 2.0 review.
  • A 30-second take instead of 15? Seedance 2.5 Spicy runs up to 30 seconds and adds an upscaled 4K tier, at a higher price. Our 2.5 Spicy review.
  • A cheaper loop that needs no prompt? MiniMax H3 Spicy starts at $0.038 per second at 480p and accepts a still with no prompt at all.
  • A lower-priced silent option? Wan 2.2 Spicy starts at $0.019 per second at 480p, no sound.
