A row of polished chrome film reels standing on a glossy burgundy plinth in a dark gallery, one beam of white light passing through every reel

Pages that call Seedance "uncensored" rarely say which version or which task. We ran every Seedance model we sell through the same five-level content ladder and judged the frames of every clip. Results are from our September 2026 tests.

Short answer: yes for every version up to L3, advanced NSFW imagery. All 10 models and all 19 endpoints delivered L3, base versions included, and every model also delivered our first L5 probe in at least one run (L5a, a consensual adult scene with restraint themes). The split is at L4, an intimate scene between two adults, when you ask for it in words. Base Seedance 2.5 delivered 8 of 9 clips and 2.5 Spicy 3 of 3. The base 2.0 line delivered 3 of 27 and its Spicy tiers 2 of 9; the rest came back as a kiss or an implied version.

The 30-second version

  • Spicy is not an unlock: no clear L4 gain over the base version on the same request. What Spicy does add: a 4K tier on 2.5, and on 1.5 Pro a clip from a still with no prompt required.
  • Spicy costs 6% to 80% more per second than its base model, and every Spicy version is image-to-video only.
  • 5 seconds costs $0.06 to $1.08 at 480p, sound off. 30 seconds of 720p runs from $0.68 on Seedance 1.5 Pro to $12.96 on Seedance 2.5 Spicy.
  • Our pick: for L1 to L3, draft on Seedance 2.0 Mini and finish on 2.0 for native 4K. For L4 written into the prompt, use 2.5 even for drafts (480p, $0.62 for 5 seconds): a Mini or 2.0 draft comes back as a kiss and tells you nothing. Buy Spicy only for what it adds.

How far each Seedance model goes

This measures what content comes back, not picture quality or motion. For prompts that reach the stronger levels, see the Seedance 2.5 prompt guide.

  • L1 Suggestive: suggestive imagery, such as lingerie or implied situations.
  • L2 Mature themes: moderate NSFW imagery.
  • L3 Strong: advanced NSFW imagery.
  • L4 Intense: an intimate scene between two adults, with the interaction itself on screen.
  • L5 Extreme: higher-intensity scenes, with two probes: L5a, a consensual scene between adults with restraint themes, and L5b, cinematic gore.

L5a was delivered by every model; L5b, tested on the Spicy tiers and 1.5 Pro, 3 of 3 on each Spicy tier and 12 of 12 on base 1.5 Pro. Later runs of 2.0 Fast on image and reference input stayed on the still and skipped the action, and one 2.0 Mini text-to-video run came back clothed.

No cell is ❌, and all 19 endpoints carry the Uncensored label on their model pages: SpicyAPI adds no content filter in front of the model. Almost every ⚠️ is L4 asked outright: 2.0, 2.0 Fast and 2.0 Mini turned 24 of 27 clips into a kiss, an embrace or an implied version, the three 2.0 Spicy tiers 7 of 9, base 1.5 Pro 5 of 6 and 1.5 Pro Spicy 1 of 3. Base 2.5 did it once in 9, and 2.5 Spicy never in 3. L1 and L2 mostly held up; 2.5 Spicy and base 2.0 Mini image-to-video each softened one L2 clip.

What the clips actually look like

Results past L2 are described in words, not shown.

L3 from a still. Seedance 2.0 Fast Spicy opened on a slow push-in on our L3 still of a woman lying on white sheets, the still kept exactly as it was: nothing added, no blur, nothing covered.

A woman with long dark hair lying on white pillows with her eyes closed, her body below the shoulders hidden under a heavy mosaic
Seedance 2.0 Fast Spicy image-to-video, L3, 480p. Cropped and pixelated by us for publication; the mosaic is not a model effect.

L4 on request. Base 2.5 delivered it from text, a still and references. The base 2.0 line mostly flinched: the second person walked in and they kissed, lay down, cuddled in pyjamas, or nothing happened. Nothing was refused or blurred; the scene just stopped short.

The everyday look. Published Seedance example clips, the L1 register most people start from:

Published example on the Seedance 2.5 Spicy page, image-to-video, 720p, 5 seconds, sound on: she turns from the window and holds the look
Published Seedance 2.5 text-to-video example, 720p, 5 seconds, sound on: a 3am laundromat, shot as grainy black-and-white documentary

Is Spicy worth the premium?

Not for access: every base model delivered L3 and L5a. And not for L4: asked in words from a still, the Spicy versions did no clearly better than base.

VersionBase, L4 from a stillSpicy, L4 from a stillPrice over base
2.53 of 33 of 3+56% to +75%
2.01 of 31 of 3+47% to +63%
2.0 Fast0 of 30 of 3+80%
2.0 Mini0 of 31 of 3+55% to +57%
1.5 Pro1 of 32 of 3+6% to +15%

All five are image-to-video only and drop some base controls: on 2.0 and 2.5 there is no return_last_frame, which hands back a clip's final frame for chaining, so you export the last frame yourself. If your shot starts from words or from reference images, you need a base model, and for L3 that costs you nothing.

Verdict: pay for what Spicy adds, not for a content unlock.

  • 2.5 Spicy fits if you need the 4K tier ($10.80 for 5 seconds, upscaled from 1080p; native 4K is $5.70 on 2.0 Spicy and $3.89 on base 2.0). It has no aspect-ratio setting: the clip takes the still's shape. It does not fit if you only want L4: base 2.5 does that for less. Seedance 2.5 vs 2.5 Spicy has the side-by-side.
  • 1.5 Pro Spicy fits a clip from a still with no prompt to write, for 6% to 15% more (the ratio follows your still; the camera lock and closing frame are on base 1.5 Pro too). It tends to run on past your prompt.
  • The 2.0 line: no stable gain from paying 47% to 80% more, and the base version also does text and references. The Fast and Mini Spicy tiers add action a still lacks, where base Fast and Mini stay close to the still; 2.0 Spicy only runs past the prompt, and native 4K is on base 2.0 too.
  • If you want the scene to stop where your prompt does, stay on base.

Why the same prompt passes one day and fails the next

A refusal, a toned-down clip and a failed input check call for different fixes.

  1. The opening still beat the prompt. On image-to-video, the frame decides what you get: a safe still with a strong prompt comes back tame, and swapping in an L3 still fixed it every time. The prompt can still move it one step: an L1 still with an L2 prompt came back at L2 in 11 of 12 runs.
  2. The host can change the result. Some hosts add their own prompt filter; SpicyAPI adds no extra filter of its own. Hosts can also use different routes or settings, so a cross-site failure alone does not tell you which check or configuration caused it.
  3. The model improvised. It can ignore your still, cut away from it or never show the requested action. These are not refusals (fixes below).
  4. One run is a sample of one. Run a prompt two or three times before you decide it doesn't work.
  5. A copyright error on a plain L1 prompt. Seedance 2.0 text-to-video rejected our L1 prompt with a copyright error in 7 of 8 attempts; 2.0 Fast, 2.0 Mini and 2.5 took it without complaint. Re-roll, or move the shot to 2.0 Fast or 2.5.
  6. A word Seedance refuses before it renders. Seedance's own safety layer turns some wording away before generation, and kissing wording is the reliable trigger, while a whisper at the ear or foreheads touching passes. A prompt with "kiss" is refused before a frame renders and is not billed (details in the prompt guide). When a beat has to be literal, put it in the opening still on image-to-video. The refusal is about the words in your prompt; the kiss the 2.0 line falls back to is the model's own choice of scene.

A refused task is normally not charged, but a few model pages say otherwise, so check cost on the finished task, not just the failed status (how refusals are billed). A toned-down clip is billed like any other, so check the frames, not the status code.

How to write Seedance prompts

Write the shot in one breath: who, what they do, where, the light, the camera. Name the people and the action plainly, keep one continuous shot, and on image-to-video write only the motion, because the still already carries the content.

Solo, suggestive (text-to-video)

Seedance 2.0, 720p, 5 seconds.

text
An adult woman in a long silk slip walks the length of an empty indoor pool hall at night, the water throwing rippling light up the tiled walls and across her. She stops at the edge, turns away from the lens and steps down into the water, which rises to her shoulders as she sinks and turns to face the camera. The surface rocks and the reflected light swings over the walls. Slow push along the poolside, framed from the shoulders up once she is in the water. Cool green water light, deep shadow. Cinematic, shallow depth of field, heavy film grain.

Two people, one bed (text-to-video)

Seedance 2.0 Mini, 720p, 5 seconds, the cheapest 2.x tier.

text
Cast: one adult man and one adult woman. Morning in a low bed: the two of them are just waking under the sheet, his arm still across her back; a black cat walks up over the covers and stretches out between them. Low dawn light rakes across the bed. Cinematic, shallow depth of field, heavy film grain, dawn grey-gold.

Run this prompt on Seedance 2.0 Mini →

A solo scene from text (Seedance 2.5)

Base Seedance 2.5 renders L3 from text. Keep this structure and name every person, prop and action plainly.

text
An adult woman in a silk robe stands at a tall loft window at dawn and turns slowly toward the camera, soft rim light tracing her shoulders, a light curtain moving in the draft. One continuous shot, slow push-in, photorealistic, fine film grain.

Animating your own still (image-to-video)

Seedance 2.5 Spicy image-to-video, 720p, 5 seconds, sound on; base 2.5 image-to-video takes the same prompt. Motion only: she turns, the silk moves, the camera drifts.

text
She turns slowly from the window toward camera, the silk slip catching the city light as it moves, one hand trailing along the glass, then she tilts her head and holds the look. Subtle handheld drift, warm lamp against cool skyline, quiet room tone.

A locked camera for loops (image-to-video)

Seedance 1.5 Pro Spicy with the camera locked, 720p, 5 seconds. Use the same still as the first and the last frame to bring the ending back toward the opening, then check the motion at the join before looping it. The prompt is optional here.

text
Camera stays locked off. Her crossed ankles rock slowly and one foot flexes. She slides one hand out from behind her head and rests it on the sheet, while her other hand stays tucked behind her head. She takes a long, slow breath. Nothing else in frame moves except the light shifting on the sheets.

Preparing the opening still

On image-to-video, the still is most of the prompt.

  • Put everything you want into the frame. The styling, the props, the second person. Base 2.0 Fast and 2.0 Mini stay close to the still and add little that isn't in it.
  • Make the still with an image model that goes as far as you need. Seedream 5.0 Pro delivered 33 of 34 image and edit runs through L5, and Z-Image Spicy Pro kept every element of our L5a probe for $0.019 an image.
  • Shape the still like the clip. Seedance 2.5 Spicy has no aspect-ratio setting; the clip takes the still's shape.
  • Use an adult, generated person, not a photo of someone real. Seedance's own input check may decline a photo of a real, identifiable face, and ByteDance says real portraits used as references need identity verification or prior legal authorization.
  • Keep each side between 300 and 6000 pixels. A smaller still is rejected before you are charged.
  • For clips longer than one take, end on a clean frame and use it as the next clip's opening still. How to make longer uncensored AI videos walks through the chain.

Weak vs strong

Weak: woman on a bed, moody. That leaves Seedance to invent the rest, with new shots and scenes of its own. Strong: the solo prompt above, which names the person, the action, the light and the camera.

Where Seedance trips up, and the fix

  • It cuts away from your still. Base 2.0 cut to a new shot mid-clip; 2.0 Spicy broke our scene into fast close-ups. Fix: write "one continuous shot, no cuts" and pin the camera down, as in the locked-camera prompt above.
  • It ignores your still. Base 2.5 image-to-video and 1.5 Pro Spicy each discarded our still once and built their own scene. Fix: run it again.
  • It won't add what the frame lacks. Base 2.0 Fast kept our L3 still and skipped the action. Fix: put the action in the still, or move up to a Spicy version.
  • The 2.0 line tones down L4, Spicy or not. Fix: write L4 scenes for 2.5.
  • The Spicy tiers sometimes go past the prompt (2.0, 2.0 Fast, 1.5 Pro). Fix: stay on the base model.
  • A 30-second take drifts. Anatomy and set dressing deform gradually the longer a frame-driven shot runs; several shorter takes cut together usually hold better. Fix: confirm the motion at 5 seconds, then extend, or chain 10-second takes.
  • 2.5 Spicy is slower. Median time per clip is 5.0 minutes on 2.5 Spicy, 4.4 on base 2.5, 3.0 on 2.0 Mini Spicy and 1.6 on 1.5 Pro Spicy; single clips took up to 11 minutes. Fix: draft the motion on a cheaper tier and render the keeper on 2.5 Spicy.
  • Resolution caps. 2.0 Fast and 2.0 Mini stop at 720p. Native 4K exists only on 2.0 and 2.0 Spicy; 2.5 Spicy's 4K is upscaled from its 1080p render.

Which Seedance should you pick?

Prices per clip from the live catalogue, 3 October 2026. The 2.0 line tops out at 15 seconds and 1.5 Pro at 12, so 30 seconds there means two or three chained clips; 2.5 and 2.5 Spicy do it in one take, with the drift caveat above. Sound costs nothing extra on the 2.x models; on 1.5 Pro and 1.5 Pro Spicy it doubles the price, and the prices below for those two are silent.

4K is not in the table: 5 seconds costs $10.80 on 2.5 Spicy, $5.70 on 2.0 Spicy and $3.89 on base 2.0. On 2.0, 2.0 Fast and 2.0 Mini text-to-video, the web-search option raises the per-second price by roughly a third to two thirds. Reference-to-video that includes a reference video has a lower per-second rate (on 2.5 at 720p, $0.1659 against $0.2773), but it applies to your clip's seconds plus the reference clip's seconds, so keep reference video short.

In short: start on 2.0 Mini for L1 to L3 drafts, finish on 2.0 for 4K, and use 2.5 whenever L4 is in the prompt. Treat Spicy as a feature you buy, not a lock you open.

Comparing Seedance with other video models? MiniMax H3 returned all 12 adult test clips as written, from L1 to L5a, from $0.185 for 5 seconds at 768p. For the Wan line, see every Wan version, tested.

Run it: Playground first, then the API, or an Agent

In the Playground. Create an account, open a model page and stay on the Playground tab in Form view.

  1. Pick the page for your task: Seedance 2.5 text-to-video; for a still, use Seedance 2.5 Spicy image-to-video and add the still under Input image.
  2. Set Resolution to 480p for a first look and Duration to 5 s. Both change the price, and so does Generate audio.
  3. Check the price shown for your settings, press Run model, and watch the clip to its last frame: a toned-down clip is billed like any other.

Prefer to describe an idea and get a cut? The Studio video generator takes a prompt and lets you pick the model.

Then the API, once a prompt works and you want it in your own app. The same request as the image-to-video prompt above (text-to-video has no image_url; reference-to-video takes reference_image_urls):

bash
curl -X POST https://api.spicyapi.ai/api/v1/jobs/createTask \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $SPICY_API_KEY" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -H "Idempotency-Key: $(uuidgen)" \
  --data '{

    "input": {
      "image_url": "https://your-cdn.example/opening-still.png",
"prompt": "She turns slowly from the window toward camera and holds the look.",
      "duration_seconds": 5,
      "resolution": "720p"
    }
  }'

Fields, waiting for the result and errors are in the API reference and the tasks guide.

Or let an Agent run it. An agent can make the same call through the CLI, the MCP server or the Agent Skill. All three read the live model schema, and the CLI and MCP show the price and ask you to confirm before creating a task. With SPICY_API_KEY set:

bash

FAQ

Is Seedance 2.5 uncensored?

Yes, base or Spicy: L3 and L5a from text, a still and references, and L4 asked for outright (8 of 9 clips on base, 3 of 3 on Spicy). Five seconds at 480p costs $0.62 on 2.5 and $1.08 on 2.5 Spicy.

Is Seedance 2.0 uncensored?

Up to L3, yes, on all three tasks and on 2.0 Fast, 2.0 Mini and the Spicy tiers; L5a was delivered on each, though some Fast and Mini runs stayed on the still or came back clothed. L4 asked in words is where it stops: base 2.0 delivered 1 of 9 clips. Use 2.0 for native 4K and 2.5 for L4.

Is Seedance 1.5 Pro uncensored?

Mostly. Base 1.5 Pro delivered every L1 and L2 clip, 5 of 6 at L3, 1 of 6 at L4 and 12 of 12 on L5a and L5b (the restraint scene and the gore probe). 1.5 Pro Spicy delivered 2 of 3 at L4. It is the cheapest Seedance, from $0.06 for 5 seconds at 480p.

Is Seedance 2.5 Spicy worth it over regular 2.5?

For a 4K file, yes; for L4, no: both delivered L4 3 of 3 from a still, and Spicy costs 56% to 75% more per second. Seedance 2.5 vs 2.5 Spicy has the side-by-side.

Can Seedance go all the way to L4?

Base 2.5 can: 8 of 9 clips asked for in words. The base 2.0 line mostly stops at a kiss or an implied version, and Spicy does not change that. Write L4 scenes for 2.5.

Why does the same Seedance prompt work one time and fail the next?

Usually a safe opening still outweighing a strong prompt, a different host with its own filter, or the model improvising its own shot. The causes and fixes are above.

What can Seedance still refuse on SpicyAPI?

SpicyAPI adds no content filter, but Seedance's own checks still run: some prompt wording, kissing most reliably, is turned away before rendering, and the input check may decline a photo of a real, identifiable face. A plain prompt can also hit a copyright error, as 2.0 text-to-video did in 7 of 8 attempts. Use generated people or people who have agreed in writing.

How long can a Seedance video be?

30 seconds in one take on Seedance 2.5 and 2.5 Spicy, 15 on the 2.0 line, 12 on 1.5 Pro. Past about 10 seconds a single take drifts, so for more, chain clips by last frame: How to make longer uncensored AI videos.

Do I pay for refused or toned-down clips?

Refused: normally no, the hold is released in full, with an exception only where a model page says a refusal is charged at the accepted quote. Toned down: yes, it bills like any clip.
