ByteDance's Seedance 2.5 text-to-video builds the whole frame from a written prompt, with sound in the same pass. Clips run 4 to 30 seconds at 480p, 720p or 1080p, in six aspect ratios, and come back as MP4 or MOV.

Text to video
The only source of what appears on screen, and the only lever on tone. Order it as subject, action, camera, light, sound, one idea per sentence. Wording is accepted by us without review, but Seedance's own safety layer refuses some of it before rendering — kissing is the reliable trigger, while a whisper at the ear or foreheads touching passes. For a literal result, drive it from a first frame on image-to-video instead.
Defaults to `adaptive`, which lets the model choose the framing from the prompt — say "vertical short-form" and you will usually get a vertical composition. Lock a shape explicitly only when the delivery slot demands it (9:16 for feeds, 16:9 for landscape, 21:9 for widescreen); otherwise adaptive tends to compose more naturally. No effect on billing.
affects price
480p, 720p or 1080p, default 720p, and it feeds directly into the billed quantity. Iterate on prompts at 480p or 720p and raise the tier only for the final take. The tier you pick is the tier the model renders at — there is no upscaling or enhancement step layered on top.
Durationaffects price
4 to 30 seconds, default 5. The 30-second ceiling is the substantive change in this generation: a complete shot fits in one request instead of being chained together from closing frames. Length scales the billed quantity linearly, so confirm the motion and pacing at 5 seconds before going long. no lower than 4 · no higher than 30
Generate audioaffects price
On by default. Produces a native soundtrack synchronized to the picture — voice, room tone, movement effects. Switch it off whenever the edit will carry its own music or narration: it stops the generated track from clashing with the one you add later.
Safety checkerOff

SpicyAPI does not run a safety checker on this model. Your prompt and media go to the model as written, and the model itself decides what comes back.

A written shot becomes a 30-second scene with its own soundtrack

Create a character teaser, a cinematic scene or a sound-led short from a written brief. Describe who is present, what changes and where the camera moves; choose 4–30 seconds and 480p / 720p / 1080p for the delivery.

What to create with Seedance 2.5

  • Choose the format for the actual destination

Choose 480p or 720p while exploring composition, then the required final tier for delivery. Keep the destination’s aspect ratio and the chosen duration steady when comparing resolution changes.

  • A whisper in the jazz bar

Give the whisper, laughter and distant saxophone distinct roles. The short scene has a clear progression without needing a large camera move.

Useful ways to apply Seedance 2.5

  • Build a character teaser around one clear beat

    Character creators

Build a character teaser around one clear beat

Direct an adult character’s glance, approach or small gesture. One camera move and a clear ending give a short NSFW teaser an understandable arc.

  • Give fabric, light and posture a visible role

    Fashion and editorial

Give fabric, light and posture a visible role

Choose the garment and lighting before writing motion. A turn toward the window, a curtain moving or a hand lifting a cup gives the viewer something specific to watch.

  • Make atmosphere part of the shot

    Sound-led scenes

Make atmosphere part of the shot

Name the sound source: rain on glass, room tone, footsteps or a brief line. Leave generated audio on for an audiovisual draft, or switch it off when you will add a track in editing.

  • Keep a reusable visual anchor

    Series and campaigns

    Keep a reusable visual anchor

Keep the successful still, prompt and settings together. Use that image for subsequent image-driven shots, or consistent references when the location changes. Review the middle of each clip as well as its first frame.

Make your first Seedance 2.5 clip

  1. Write one scene, not a list of tags

Name the adult character, setting and action, then the camera and sound. Give a five-second take one main event; reserve a longer duration for a sequence with a beginning and an ending.

  2. Direct the change

Describe one action, its pace and one camera move. “She turns toward the lens as the camera slowly moves closer” gives the shot a clear instruction. Keep the face visible if identity is the main selling point.

  3. Choose five seconds and read the quote

Begin with a short take at a suitable draft resolution. After the direction works, increase length or output size one at a time and review the new quote.

  4. Keep the take that works

Watch the opening, middle and ending for face, hands, garment and set continuity. Save the inputs with the clip. Hold seed while comparing one edit; use a new seed when exploring a different take.

Seedance 2.5: saved request and prompt ideas

  • Saved example: A whisper in the jazz bar

The saved example A whisper in the jazz bar requested duration_seconds=5; resolution="720p"; aspect_ratio="16:9"; generate_audio=true. Open Examples to compare its actual input and video, then try one change with your own material.

Warm, clearly lit close two-shot. Two adult women stand very close in the amber glow of a jazz bar's back hallway, one in a black velvet slip, the other in an open white shirt. One leans in and whispers something against the other's ear; the other closes her eyes and breaks into a wide laugh, then they rest their foreheads together. Handheld 35mm, warm practical lights, shallow focus, muffled saxophone, a whispered line and soft laughter.
  • A bar scene where the sound is the point

Room tone, a whispered line and a distant instrument are all written into the prompt, so generate_audio has something specific to render against the picture.

Warm, dim jazz bar back hallway at night, two adult figures stand close together, amber practical lights, handheld 35mm camera, shallow focus, a saxophone plays faintly from another room, one leans in and whispers, soft laughter follows
  • A two-beat scene inside the 30-second ceiling

Setup and a turning point are both written into one prompt, so the clip carries an arc instead of a single held pose while staying inside one billed request.

A cyclist climbs a quiet hill road at dawn, breathing hard, golden light lengthening; near the crest the gradient eases and the rider stands on the pedals for the final push, wind picking up, camera trailing low and steady
  • A product-adjacent scene left to adaptive framing

No fixed ratio is set, so the model resolves the shape from the described composition before a specific crop gets committed to for delivery.

A ceramic mug of tea on a wooden table by a rain-streaked window, steam rising in soft backlight, camera holds a slow, steady push toward the cup

Choosing and using Seedance 2.5

A prompt pattern you can use

Write: starting state → one action → camera movement → ending → sound. Give a longer take a visible sequence, not more adjectives. Set duration and resolution in the controls, then use the prompt to direct what the viewer should see.
