Continue a clip with Seedance 2.5: up to its last 30 seconds serve as reference footage for a new 4 to 30 second segment at 480p, 720p or 1080p, and you get back one file with your clip and the continuation joined.

Pick a video and we’ll keep it going from its last frame.

    What happens next

Pick a clip in step 1 and this step opens.

Required. Describe what happens next: the action that follows, the camera move and the sound. The reference already carries the subject, the set and the recent motion, so spend the words on how the shot moves on.
    affects price
Size of the new segment: 480p, 720p or 1080p, default 720p. It only sets the quality of the new segment, so match your source. The joined file keeps your clip’s framing with no black bars; to line the seam up, the picture may be trimmed or adjusted by a few percent at the edges. If the model returns a noticeably different shape, the new segment is scaled to fill your frame and centered, cropping what spills over. It sets the price.
    Durationaffects price
Length of the new segment: any whole number from 4 to 30, default 5. The reference seconds from your clip are billed on top, so a 5-second segment after a 30-second source bills 35 seconds. no lower than 4 · no higher than 30
    Generate audioaffects price
On by default, so the new segment comes with generated sound that follows the reference. Your source keeps its own sound either way; when one side is silent, the joined file is padded with silence. It selects a price tier.

SpicyAPI does not run a safety checker on this model. Your prompt and media go to the model as written, and the model itself decides what comes back.

What it does

Sound with the picture

The sound comes back in the same file as the picture

generate_audio is on by default, so the track comes out of the same pass as the frames instead of being scored afterwards. Footsteps land on the footfall, a whispered line sits on the mouth that speaks it, and the room sits behind both. Switch it off when the clip is going to a sound designer anyway.

Casting from your own stills

Thirty references, one shot

reference-to-video accepts up to 30 images, 10 clips and 10 audio tracks in one request. Three angles of the same face hold a character across a series far better than thirty unrelated frames; reference clips carry motion and pacing, reference audio gives the cut something to land on. It is a separate endpoint and takes no first frame.

Open and close on purpose

First frame, last frame, thirty seconds between

image-to-video pins the opening frame to a picture you supply. Add last_image_url and the shot has to arrive somewhere specific, which is what makes transitions, reveals and before-and-after pairs repeatable. Past roughly ten seconds a single take starts to drift, so several shorter takes cut together usually hold better than one long one.

Before you spend

text-to-video

Prompt-only is the least literal route. Seedance's own safety layer sits in front of generation and refuses kissing wording outright — the request comes back rejected before a frame is rendered. The same beat written as a whisper at the ear, or foreheads touching, goes through; that is how the clip on this page was made. When you need the literal action, either drive it from a first frame on image-to-video, or run the shot on a Wan family, where the wording Seedance refuses is accepted.

image-to-video

The most reliable path to a literal result: whatever is in the opening frame is already in the video, so the prompt only has to describe motion. Two boundaries worth knowing before you spend anything — last_image_url is accepted only alongside image_url and never on its own, and this endpoint takes no reference assets at all.

reference-to-video

A separate contract: there is no image_url here, and reference material cannot be mixed into the frame-driven endpoint. Reference videos and reference audio must each run 2–30 seconds and 30 seconds in total, and reference footage is added to the billed duration. References are read in the order you send them, so the prompt has to say which one is which character.

all

Rights and consent for everything you send and everything you publish are yours: adults only, licensed material, no non-consensual imagery, no impersonation of a real person. Generated files are kept for 14 days, so copy anything you intend to keep into your own storage.

Where it fits

  • Bar, club and backstage scenes

The kind of shot that needs its own noise: ice in a shaker, a whispered line, a saxophone two rooms away. Write the room into the prompt and leave generate_audio on — Seedance 2.5 renders the ambience against the picture instead of handing you a silent plate.

  • Uncensored shorts, couples included

Scenes the official app blocks run here, with couples of any gender, and we do not review what you generate. Seedance's own safety layer still refuses some kissing wording, so the dependable route is a first frame through image-to-video.

  • Product films that start from the packshot

Send the approved photograph to image-to-video and the geometry, label and grade stay exactly as shot while the camera moves. Nothing has to be re-lit or re-approved, and last_image_url lets the move land back on the hero frame for a clean loop.

  • Series characters who stay the same person

Build a small reference set — three angles of the face, one wardrobe still, one clip of the walk — and reuse it across episodes on reference-to-video. Thirty images fit in one request, so the cast travels with the prompt instead of with a seed.

How to call the Seedance 2.5 API

  1. 1. Pick the endpoint from what you already have

A description and nothing else goes to text-to-video. A still you want kept goes to image-to-video. A cast, a product or a piece of motion that has to survive several shots goes to reference-to-video. Calling the family name picks the endpoint from the fields you send.

  2. 2. Write the shot, not the picture

Subject, action, camera, light, sound — in that order, one idea per sentence. The clip on this page came from exactly this text: “Warm, clearly lit close two-shot. Two adult women stand very close in the amber glow of a jazz bar's back hallway, one in a black velvet slip, the other in an open white shirt. One leans in and whispers something against the other's ear; the other closes her eyes and breaks into a wide laugh, then they rest their foreheads together. Handheld 35mm, warm practical lights, shallow focus, muffled saxophone, a whispered line and soft laughter.” Five seconds, 720p, 16:9, audio on.

  3. 3. Create it as an async task and poll

Send an Idempotency-Key, keep the task id you get back, then poll or take the callback. After a dropped connection look the task up rather than creating it again. Check the estimate first: duration_seconds and resolution move it, and so does reference footage on reference-to-video.

The short version

Seedance 2.5 is ByteDance's video model, published here as three separate APIs: text-to-video, image-to-video and reference-to-video. Each returns 4 to 30 seconds at 480p, 720p or 1080p, with a native soundtrack generated alongside the frames unless generate_audio is switched off. The reference endpoint takes up to 30 images, 10 clips and 10 audio tracks in one request; the frame endpoint takes an opening still and an optional closing still. Billing is per second of generated video, so duration and resolution are what move the price, with reference footage added to the billed seconds on the reference endpoint. There is no content review on our side and no mature flag to set, uncensored work included, within the boundaries recorded above.
