Two sculptures on one dark gallery plinth: a black stone arch with three thin light trails leaving it, beside a pale stone ribbon carrying a single thicker trail

You have an adult-character still and two Seedance options at different prices. The useful question is what Spicy adds to that same image-led job—and whether you need it.

Short answer: start with Seedance 2.5. Both versions support uncensored adult-oriented animation from a still in our September and October 2026 tests. Spicy costs 56% to 75% more per second and adds an upscaled 4K tier, but offers neither text-to-video nor reference-image, reference-video or reference-audio inputs. Choose it for 4K delivery or a different interpretation of the scene; our repeated same-image check produced stronger action on only one of its two takes.

How far each one goes

Base 2.5 text-to-video softened an L4 request; Spicy softened an L2 image request by reframing toward the face. “Uncensored” means SpicyAPI adds no content filter, while Seedance still performs its own input checks.

For this choice, compare the shared image-to-video task. Both delivered the stronger adult requests, including L4 in 3 of 3 clips; base’s text-only miss is not a Spicy advantage.

The Spicy review and base review show Freedom Scores of 96.7 and 80.9. Those category summaries are not picture-quality ratings; use the shared-task outcomes to choose between these versions.

Both can refuse kissing-related wording. Changing the build does not disable that input check.

Same still, same prompt: what came back

We ran the same still and scene brief twice on each model at 480p for four seconds, with sound off. The brief asked for a more intense interaction while retaining the two people.

VersionWhat the two takes didWhat that changes for your choice
Seedance 2.5Both cut to another room and stayed with a clothed embraceCheaper, but the opening image did not keep the original setting intact
Seedance 2.5 SpicyOne followed the stronger direction and cut away; the other kept the original room and a gentler interactionA different interpretation is possible, but paying more did not consistently produce stronger action

Draft on the model you intend to finish with. A base preview does not predict Spicy’s staging. Budget a reroll when the exact interaction or setting is essential, and keep the prompt’s mood consistent.

For ordinary action, base 2.5 also produced a non-graphic staged fistfight in three takes from one warehouse still. Some takes added cuts and changed the choreography. Use it for a first action take, then refine the sequence; that result is separate from the adult-scene comparison.

The everyday look

The train scene cuts between compositions; the fogged-glass scene holds its close framing.

Top row: a woman in an open coat standing alone in a night train carriage, then pressed against a man in a suit by the carriage door. Bottom row: a woman behind fogged shower glass dragging her palm down it, then leaning her face close to the glass
Top: Seedance 2.5 text-to-video, 720p, 4 seconds, from a prompt alone. Bottom: Seedance 2.5 Spicy image-to-video, 720p, 5 seconds, from a still. Frames from the start, middle and end of each published example.

These show two camera choices, rather than a matched quality comparison: the train starts from text, the glass from a still. Base 2.5 changed the requested slow push-in into a wide shot followed by a close two-shot. The glass prompt set a tight starting frame and explicitly ruled out widening; its five-second clip kept that framing. Specify both the subject action and the camera separately when one unbroken shot matters.

Seedance 2.5 Spicy image-to-video, 720p, 5 seconds, with sound: the fogged-glass prompt below.

Both accept up to 30 seconds per generation. Plan several beats and an ending; a longer duration does not prevent cuts or stalled motion (see where they trip up).

Reference video changes both the rate and the billable duration. At 480p:

  • Five-second output, ten-second reference: 15 × $0.0738 = $1.107. Without reference video, that output costs $0.617.
  • Maximum hold: $2.583 for that request.

A refused task normally releases the hold.

Cheaper ways to the same place

  • L4 and L5A for under a seventh of the price: MiniMax H3 delivered every clip we ran at L1, L3, L4 and L5A. $0.185 for 5 seconds at 768p, sound included, up to 15 seconds, against $1.39 for 5 seconds at 720p on base 2.5. Full test.
  • 30 seconds in one generation for a third of the price: Wan 3.0 takes text, an opening still or reference images/video and runs to 30 seconds with sound: $2.70 for 30 seconds at 720p against $8.32 on base 2.5. Give the action a clear ending: Wan can carry it further than requested. Wan tests.
  • Lower-cost short, silent clips from a still: Wan 2.2 Spicy, $0.095 for 5 seconds at 480p, 5 or 8 seconds, no sound.
  • 4K for a fraction: Wan 3.0 Pro renders 4K from text, an opening still or reference images/video at $0.92 for 5 seconds, against $10.80 on Spicy. Its 4K is also an enlargement of a 1080p render, and our upper-level runs on it were at 1080p.

Prompts you can copy

Write the shot in one breath: who, what they do, where, the light, the camera. On a still, write only the motion, because the still already carries the content. The image-to-video prompts below work on either model, but a base draft does not preview Spicy’s staging. If you need Spicy’s 4K tier, check a five-second 480p Spicy take for $1.08 before buying the 4K rendition.

Seedance 2.5

1. Strangers on a night train (text-to-video). 720p, 4 seconds. The exact prompt behind the top row of frames above.

text
A woman alone in a night train carriage, coat falling open over bare legs, stands as the train lurches and catches the overhead rail; a man steps in behind her at the stop and the crowd presses them chest to back against the door. Her head tips onto his shoulder, his hand finds her hip, neither looks at the other. Tunnel lights strobe across their faces. Slow push in through the carriage, warm light against black glass. Cinematic, shallow depth of field, heavy film grain.

2. Rim light at dawn (text-to-video). A clear subject, mood and camera direction suit an uncensored scene as well as a fashion portrait.

text
An adult woman in a loose linen shirt stands at a tall loft window at dawn and turns slowly toward the camera, soft rim light tracing her shoulders, a sheer curtain moving in the draft. One continuous shot, slow push-in, photorealistic, fine film grain.

3. A longer train scene (text-to-video). 1080p with sound; the published 15-second example contains several cuts. Set 30 seconds in the duration control for a longer rendition; writing "thirty seconds" in the prompt does not change the setting.

Seedance 2.5 text-to-video, 1080p, 15 seconds, with sound: the published example for this prompt.
text
Cast: one man and one woman. Thirty seconds on a last train at night: she sits alone in an empty carriage with her coat falling open, and at each stop more people board until the two of them are pressed chest to back against the door, her head tipped back on his shoulder, neither of them speaking. Warm carriage light against tunnel black. Cinematic, shallow depth of field, heavy film grain, colour.

4. Your character in a new room (reference-to-video). 1080p, 9:16, 6 seconds, three reference images: two of the woman, one of the bathroom. Give each image one job and name it in the prompt.

text
Put the woman from @Image1 and @Image2 into the candlelit bathroom of @Image3. She steps behind the translucent shower curtain so she reads as a warm silhouette through it, one hand pressed flat against the fabric, then leans her forehead to it. Steam rolls past the candles. Slow push in, no cut.

Seedance 2.5 Spicy

Bring your own still for each of these; the prompt only moves it.

1. Behind fogged glass. 720p, 5 seconds, sound on. The bottom row of frames above. Your still: a woman behind a steamed-up shower panel, one palm on the glass.

text
Her palm drags straight down the fogged glass, carving one long clear streak from the wiped patch to the bottom edge, and her fingertips lift away. She immediately steps forward and leans into that clear streak: her face arrives close to the glass and comes into sharp focus through it, wet skin and lashes clearly visible, water beading and running around her cheek. She holds there, eyes level with the lens, and breathes out against the glass so a small bloom of fog spreads and fades. The framing stays tight on the glass panel the entire time. Do not pull back, do not widen the shot, do not change the camera angle. Running water, muffled room tone, one slow breath.

2. Two people in the still: the hot spring. 720p, 4 seconds. Your still: two women in a steaming outdoor pool, seen from the front. Keep the front view and give the motion a beginning and an ending; the earlier backs-of-heads composition is under where they trip up.

text
The two women rise toward camera only as far as the collarbone, water sheeting off their shoulders, and the steam banks thick across the surface in front of them. One slides behind the other and wraps both arms around her from behind, her forearm crossing high over the chest; they settle cheek to cheek and hold the look into the lens while the water swells and slaps the rocks. Slow push in on their faces and shoulders, framed from the collarbone up the whole time. Dusk light on wet skin, drifting snow beyond. Cinematic, shallow depth of field, heavy film grain.
Seedance 2.5 Spicy image-to-video, 4 seconds, no audio track: they rise, one wraps her arms around the other, cheek to cheek.

3. The look back on the stairs. 720p, 5 seconds, sound on. Your still: a woman on a marble staircase in a backless velvet gown, looking back over her shoulder.

text
She holds the look back over her shoulder, then turns and continues up two more steps, the velvet train dragging heavily behind her across the marble, her gloved hand sliding along the brass banister. The chandelier flares a little brighter and the gilt catches, deep shadows swinging across the wall. Slow dolly following her up the stairs, hushed hall reverb, no music.

Weak vs strong

Weak: "couple, intense, dark room". It hands the people, the action, the light and the expression to the model, and on the same prompt these two already made very different films.

Strong: the hot-spring prompt above, or the fogged-glass one. Each supplies an action, an intended framing and an ending. That leaves fewer conflicting choices for the model, although it can still change the staging.

Where they trip up, and the fix

  • Both cut away from your still. When the prompt describes a different scene, both showed our frame for a split second and cut to the prompt's room. Fix: describe what's already in your still, then the motion, and add "one continuous shot, no cuts".
  • Mixed signals get read differently. Fix: one emotional cue per clip (a calm plus an intense cue came back calm on base 2.5 and intense on Spicy).
  • Unexpected cuts. Base's train example changed the shot despite a push-in instruction. Specify one continuous shot and the intended framing; remove scene changes if you want to animate the opening composition.
  • Both take minutes. Allow several minutes on either model, plus variable queue time. Draft on the model you intend to finish with; changing from base to Spicy can change the staging.
  • Spicy's 4K is upscaled, not native. It enlarges a 1080p render and will not reliably recover missing detail from a soft still. Fix: start from a sharp, high-resolution still, and only render 4K when you need the file.
  • Stills keep their shape. On both models, image-to-video follows the still: our square still gave a square clip. Each image side must be 300–6000 pixels and the file no more than 10 MB. Crop the still to 9:16 or 16:9 before uploading, or start from text or reference inputs on base 2.5, where you choose the ratio.
  • A long hold replaces the action. The earlier hot-spring brief asked for a view behind the subjects and a stop; its clip cut behind them and barely moved. The four-second rewrite uses the front view with a rise, an embrace and a final pose. If your shot stalls, shorten a prolonged hold and give it connected action beats before paying for a longer take: 20 seconds at Spicy's 1080p rate costs $21.60.
Two women seen from behind, with their shoulders above the water of a steaming outdoor hot spring at dusk
A frame from the 20-second Seedance 2.5 Spicy clip made with the earlier prompt: after the opening still, the camera cut to their backs and held almost still.
Seedance 2.5 Spicy image-to-video, 1080p, 20 seconds: the earlier hot-spring prompt, shown as a cautionary example.
  • Reference clips change the bill. The lower rate applies to output plus measured reference seconds; the $2.58 quote above is the maximum hold, not every reference request's final charge. Fix: use reference images where you can, and trim reference video to the few seconds that carry the motion.

Try it in the Playground, then connect your app

  1. Open the image-to-video page of Seedance 2.5 or Seedance 2.5 Spicy and add your still under Input image.
  2. Paste the motion prompt into Prompt, set Duration to 5 and Resolution to 480p, then select Run model. The page shows the price first.
  3. Keep the model fixed when revising; raise Resolution once the staging fits the brief.

FAQ

Is Seedance 2.5 Spicy more uncensored than Seedance 2.5?

No adult-content unlock: both support the stronger adult categories from stills, and both retain Seedance’s own input checks. For an exact opening, choose the shared image task; for a newly composed character scene, only base supports reference images, video and audio.

Is Seedance 2.5 Spicy worth the extra money?

Spicy is useful for an upscaled 4K delivery file. At 480p–1080p, base is cheaper. Compare motion direction—not the uncensored label—when deciding whether to pay more.

Can Seedance 2.5 Spicy make a video from text alone?

No. It only animates a still. Use base 2.5 for text-to-video or reference generation.

Does Seedance 2.5 do 4K?

No, 1080p is its top resolution. For 4K you need Spicy, or Wan 3.0 Pro for less (see above).

How long can a Seedance 2.5 video be?

Up to 30 seconds per generation, on both. For longer, chain clips by their last frame: How to make longer uncensored AI videos.

Does Seedance 2.5 reach L4?

Both do from stills. Base also supports text and reference images/video; its L4 text results included a softened scene. For a lower-cost text option, MiniMax H3 costs under a seventh as much at a similar resolution (768p against 720p).

Do I pay for refused or toned-down clips?

Refused: the failed job normally releases its hold. Softened: the completed clip is billed at the normal price. Use the delivered frames and settled/cost to distinguish them.
