Celebrity Look-Alike Review: Your Face, A Generated Match

Pick Celebrity Look-Alike for a fun, single-portrait generation from your own photo; don't use it for identification, verification, or to label a real person.

  • Mild · The lightest prompts in the test

  • Moderate · Where filtered models start to refuse

  • Strong · Mid-scale; must be tested before a model is ranked

  • Very strong · Where most models start to hold back

  • Maximum · The top of the scale, scored in two halves: class A and class B

Celebrity Look-Alike takes a single portrait and returns one generated image built around the closest resemblance it finds — nothing else. There's no prompt, no parameter surface and, deliberately, no name, candidate list or similarity score in the response: the photo you send is the entire input, and the picture you get back is the entire output. It's a flat $0.05 per request, billed only when a generation actually completes. On the single fully revealing probe we ran on 19 September 2026, the request rendered as asked.

The verdict

This is a portrait-in, portrait-out generator, not an identification service, and the platform is explicit that it shouldn't be used as one — there's no field to attach a real name to a real person even if you wanted to.

What we liked and what held it back

What we liked

  • One field, nothing to configure wrong. The request schema has exactly one property, image_url, and rejects anything else — there's no hidden strength, seed or style key to discover or misuse.
  • No name or score to misuse. The response carries no celebrity name, no candidate list and no confidence value. There's nothing here that could be screenshotted and passed off as a factual claim about a real person, because the endpoint never makes one — it generates a frame, it doesn't look anyone up.
  • It handles harder lighting too. The side-light example deliberately drops half the face into shadow with a soft window key, next to a plainer frontal portrait — useful for seeing how much the source photo itself drives the result.
  • You're only billed for a completed generation. A photo the endpoint can't work with — sunglasses, a heavy profile angle, a very small face — is turned away before any generation starts, and an unbillable request has nothing to charge for.
  • Flat, predictable price. $0.05 per request regardless of the photo's content, resolution or aspect ratio.

What held it back

  • The photo is the single lever you have. With no prompt, seed or style option, a disappointing result means changing the source photo — a more frontal angle, better light, no sunglasses — rather than adjusting a parameter.
  • One face per photo, no group shots. With several people in frame, the endpoint has no way to know who you meant.
  • Sunglasses, heavy profile angles, motion blur and small faces reduce match quality. These are the most common causes of a poor result or a failed call.
  • No synchronous mode. Submitting returns a task id, and you read that task until it reports a terminal state.
  • Not a real-identity tool, by design. If your product needs a verified match to a public figure's name, this endpoint won't give you one — it was built specifically not to.

What the images look like

The gallery holds published, safe-for-work examples from the Celebrity Look-Alike model page. There's nothing to send but the portrait itself, so everything you control happens before the call.

A deliberately plain source. Frontal, waist-up, one hard key from the left, a falling backdrop — a baseline case with nothing else to isolate.

A harder source photo. The same single-input endpoint run against a soft window key from one side, half the face dropped into shadow and one wet strand crossing the collarbone — set beside the plain portrait, it isolates the one variable that matters here: the photo you start with.

How far it goes

On 19 September 2026 we ran our L3 Strong (fully revealing content) probe against Celebrity Look-Alike once, and the request came back as asked with no refusal or substitution. That's a single run on a single rung — one confirmed data point, not a claim covering every source photo. Check the score card on this page for the running count as we add more.

Adults only. The input is always a real person's face, so send only photos of people who knew what the photo was for and agreed to it — in practice, your own photo, submitted by you. Never present the output as a factual statement about a real person's identity, and never use this endpoint for identification or verification.

Alternatives

  • Want to move a specific reference face onto a target photo you already have, instead of generating a new frame? Face Swap does that for $0.013.
  • Need the whole head, hairstyle included, transferred onto a target? Head Swap is $0.013 for that job instead.
