Vidu Q3 Turbo Review: A Cheap Way to Try a Take

Pick Vidu Q3 Turbo to run a dozen movement ideas on the same still cheaply; step up to base Q3 only when you specifically need 1080p or motion-strength control.

Vidu Q3 Turbo costs less and runs quicker than the other two Q3 tiers: 1 to 16 seconds of video from a still image at 540p or 720p, $0.042 a second at 540p and $0.066 at 720p, with no movement_amplitude control and no resolution above 720p. It's built for the workflow its own product description names directly — run the same still a dozen times with a different movement note each time, and keep the take that works, rather than writing one long, careful prompt and hoping.

The verdict

In our 27 September side-by-side test against Q3, Q3 Pro and a dozen other image-to-video families on twelve shared prompts, Q3 Turbo held up better than its pricier sibling on at least one prompt that matters: a two-person kiss scene that Q3 Pro barely animated, Q3 Turbo completed clearly within the same clip length. It wasn't flawless — a background curtain shifted color between frames on one close-up — but on the prompts we ran, cheaper didn't mean worse here.

Pick it for iterating on movement ideas cheaply, or for 720p work that doesn't need the full Q3 line's 1080p ceiling. Step up to base Q3 if you specifically need 1080p or a direct motion-strength dial, or to Q3 Pro if you want sound generated in the same pass.

  • Price: At 540p, Turbo costs $0.042/s, Pro $0.054/s, and Q3 $0.07/s. At 720p, compare Turbo at $0.066/s with Q3 at $0.15/s; Pro has no 720p option. Default: 720p.
  • Limits: 1 to 16 seconds, 540p or 720p, image-to-video only. No movement_amplitude control and no 1080p option.

What we liked and what held it back

What we liked

  • Compare matching resolutions. At 540p, Turbo costs $0.042/s, Pro $0.054/s, and Q3 $0.07/s. At 720p, compare Turbo at $0.066/s with Q3 at $0.15/s; Pro has no 720p option.
  • It finished a two-person motion Q3 Pro stalled on. On a "lean in closer, foreheads touching, share a slow gentle kiss" prompt, Q3 Turbo's clip clearly progressed from a seated start to a completed kiss; the pricier Q3 Pro barely moved the pair across the same three frames.
  • Fine bubble and steam detail, matching its pricier siblings. On a pour-over coffee prompt, Q3 Turbo's foam and steam looked as convincing as Q3 and Q3 Pro's takes on the identical shot, suggesting this baseline quality isn't something you pay more to get.
  • Plan repeated takes. For repeated takes, check the live quote with the same duration and resolution before budgeting a batch. A low starting rate does not establish the cost of every setting.
  • A conservative approach to clothing, same as the rest of the family. On a shirt-open balcony prompt, it kept the shirt mostly closed through the clip rather than fully removing it, closer to a literal reading of "the sea breeze pulls his open shirt aside" than more permissive takes we saw from other vendors' spicy variants on the same still.

What held it back

  • We caught one background drift. On a close-up smile prompt, the curtain behind the subject changed from a light sheer fabric to a darker drape between the first and last sampled frame — a continuity slip we didn't see in Q3's or Q3 Pro's take on the same still.
  • No 1080p. 720p is the ceiling; for a full-resolution deliverable, use base Q3.
  • No movement_amplitude control. Like Q3 Pro, you can't directly ask for a smaller or larger move — you get whatever this tier's default gives you.
  • A camera-angle slip we also saw on Q3 Pro. On the cat-leap-onto-a-bookshelf prompt, the final frame tilted to an angle the opening still didn't show, a small consistency issue base Q3 avoided on the identical prompt.
  • L4 Intense softened two of three tries. Every other rung we tested, including both L5 Extreme probe types, rendered every time; this was the one exception.
  • It sits lower on public leaderboards than its siblings. Artificial Analysis ranks it 24th of 36 with audio and 44th of 82 without, both behind Q3 Pro's placement on the same board.

What the results look like

Vidu Q3 Turbo's page examples read like a demonstration of its own pitch: a slow push-in on a still with nothing else changing, a café curtsy with a wink and a headband bobbing, a slow crawl toward camera timed to crossed feet swinging, and a pool exit with water sheeting off wet hair — four short, single-idea clips, the kind of thing you'd shoot a dozen variations of before picking one.

In our 27 September comparison against Q3, Q3 Pro, HappyHorse 1.1 and a dozen other families on the same twelve prompts, Q3 Turbo's clearest win was the sofa-kiss test that gave Q3 Pro trouble: asked for two women to lean in and share a slow kiss, Q3 Turbo's sampled frames showed the motion actually complete, matching what HappyHorse 1.1 and most of the Seedance tiers in the same batch delivered on the identical prompt. On a stylized oil-painting animation, Q3 Turbo held the brushstroke texture through the clip about as well as Q3 Pro did, with the clouds and water taking on a believable drift.

Its one clear miss in our comparison was a background inconsistency: on a locked-camera close-up where a woman "slowly breaks into a genuine smile," the curtain visible behind her shifted from a pale sheer fabric to a noticeably darker drape by the final sampled frame — the kind of slip that would show up as a visible jump cut if the clip were played at full frame rate rather than sampled.

Prompts that worked

Q3 Turbo works well with one instruction per request — a single camera move, a single physical action — which fits how the tier is meant to be used: run several short variations rather than one long, elaborate brief.

1. One camera move, nothing else.

text
The camera stays on her the whole way in. Slow push in on the same still, and nothing else: the frame tightens by degrees.

2. A two-person action described start to finish.

text
The two women lean in closer, foreheads touching, and share a slow gentle kiss as the candlelight flickers.

3. A physics-driven action, mechanism named first.

text
Hot water streams from the kettle spout into the dripper, steam rises and the coffee grounds bloom and bubble.

Weak: "She looks pretty." No motion, no cause, nothing for the model to animate toward. Strong: prompt 2 — a start state, an end state, and one continuous action connecting them.

How far it goes

Our content ladder runs from L1 Suggestive (lingerie, a slipping strap) through L2 Partial and L3 Strong to L4 Intense (an intimate scene between two adults) and L5 Extreme, tested as two separate probes: consensual restraint and impact play, and cinematic gore.

Across 19 runs between 16 and 25 September 2026, Vidu Q3 Turbo rendered every L1, L2, L3 and both L5 Extreme probe types as asked, with no refusals anywhere on the ladder. L4 Intense was the exception: one of three tries came back exactly as written, and two came back softened rather than refused outright. The page label is Uncensored: we add no content filter of our own here.

Not tested yet: two-women or two-men scenes above L1 Suggestive, though our comparison batch's sofa-kiss prompt at L1 completed cleanly; the full 16-second duration ceiling on any content-ladder rung.

Adults only, in every prompt and every starting image. A real, identifiable person needs to have consented, and you need the rights to any photo you animate.
