Vidu Q3 Pro Review: Fixed 540p, Sound Included

Pick Vidu Q3 Pro for sound generated alongside the picture at a fixed 540p; for multi-person motion that completes, we found Q3 Turbo more reliable.

Vidu Q3 Pro takes a still image and a prompt and returns 1 to 16 seconds of 540p video with sound generated in the same pass, for a flat $0.054 a second. It's one of three tiers in this family — Q3 and Q3 Turbo are reviewed separately — and unlike its siblings, the resolution is fixed at 540p with no toggle to change it, and there's no movement_amplitude control to dial motion up or down.

The verdict

In our 27 September comparison against Q3 and Q3 Turbo on twelve shared prompts, Q3 Pro matched the family's habit of staying faithful to the source image — clothing stays on unless the prompt asks otherwise, painted textures survive being animated — but it was the tier most likely to under-deliver on multi-step motion in our tests: a two-person kiss prompt barely progressed across the clip where Q3 Turbo completed the same motion, and a cat-leap prompt ended on a camera angle the opening still never had.

Choose Pro for its fixed 540p workflow when its observed motion suits your shot. Audio is available across the Q3 line. Compare Turbo at the same resolution for cost, and Q3 when you need 1080p or movement-amplitude control.

Key facts

  • Pass rate: across 19 content-ladder runs between 16 and 25 September 2026, every rung rendered as asked except L4 Intense, where one of three tries rendered and two came back softened.
  • Price: $0.054 a second, flat, at the one resolution this tier offers. A 5-second clip is $0.27.
  • Limits: 1 to 16 seconds, 540p only, image-to-video only. No movement_amplitude control. Sound is generated in the same pass as the picture.
  • Leaderboard: listed as Vidu Q3 Pro on Artificial Analysis's Image to Video leaderboard, rank 18 of 36 with audio (score 1055.7) and rank 12 of 82 without audio (score 1290.7), fetched 27 September 2026.
  • Sources: every scored run is in the Vidu Q3 Pro test report, the scoring rules are on our review methodology page, and the full parameter list is on the Vidu Q3 Pro model page.

What we liked and what held it back

What we liked

  • Sound arrives with the picture, no second step. A dwarf-smith example on the model page pairs sparks bursting on each hammer strike with audio timed to the same frames — the useful case for an endpoint that renders sound alongside the image rather than requiring a separate pass.
  • It doesn't strip or add clothing you didn't ask for. On a woman turning from a window in a silk dress, it kept the dress on and followed the described turn, matching the rest of the Q3 family on the same still.
  • Painted texture survives animation. Asked to bring a harbor painting to life — boats rocking, clouds drifting — the thick brushstroke look held through the clip, and the clouds rolled with a believable, gentle motion rather than smoothing into a photograph.
  • A subtle smile stays subtle. On a "genuine smile" prompt, Q3 Pro added the head tilt the prompt specifically asked for ("tilts her head slightly, her eyes crinkling"), a detail its siblings underplayed on the identical text.
  • A tasteful hand on a shirt-open prompt. Asked for a sea breeze pulling a man's open shirt aside, it kept the shirt on his shoulders through the clip rather than removing it outright, closer to what the prompt described than some rival families gave the same still.

What held it back

  • Multi-person motion can stall. On a two-woman kiss prompt — "lean in closer, foreheads touching, share a slow gentle kiss" — Q3 Pro's three frames barely progressed: the pair looked almost as far apart at the end of the clip as at the start. Q3 Turbo completed the same motion clearly on the identical prompt.
  • We caught one camera-angle slip. On a cat-leap-onto-a-bookshelf prompt, the final frame tilted to an angle the opening still never had, as if the camera itself had rotated mid-shot rather than just following the cat.
  • 540p only. There's no way to request 720p or 1080p on this endpoint; if resolution matters, use Q3 instead.
  • No movement_amplitude control. You can't directly ask for a bigger or smaller camera or subject move the way you can on base Q3 — you get whatever the model defaults to.
  • L4 Intense softened two of three tries. Every other rung on our content ladder, including both L5 Extreme probe types, rendered every time; this was the one exception.
  • Priced above Q3 Turbo for the resolution you get. At $0.054 a second for 540p, it costs 29% more than Q3 Turbo's $0.042 for the same resolution.

What the results look like

Vidu Q3 Pro's page examples lean into what the audio-in-one-pass workflow is for: a dwarf smith at an anvil with sparks timed to hammer strikes, a singer winking at a crowd as glowsticks sway out of focus, and a coat flaring behind a woman walking straight at the lens down an underpass, each carrying its own generated soundtrack.

In our 27 September side-by-side test against Q3, Q3 Turbo, HappyHorse 1.1 and a dozen other families, Q3 Pro's clearest strength was a stylized one: bringing an oil painting of a harbor to life while keeping its brushwork intact, matching the quality we saw from the top performers in that batch. Its clearest miss was a two-person prompt asking for a slow kiss between two women seated on a sofa — where Q3 Turbo, HappyHorse 1.1 and several Seedance tiers all completed the described motion within the clip, Q3 Pro's three sampled frames showed almost no progress, as if the model had decided the safest reading of "slow" was "barely at all." On a cat-leap prompt run identically across all three Q3 tiers, Q3 Pro (like Q3 Turbo) ended on a camera angle the input photo never showed, a small consistency slip that base Q3 didn't share on the same prompt.

None of this touched how the model handles clothing or restraint on the prompts we sent it: across the shared batch, Q3 Pro was as faithful to what a source image was wearing as its siblings, adding nothing extra and removing nothing that wasn't asked for.

Prompts that worked

Q3 Pro rewards a single physical action tied to a visible cause, described in the order it happens, on a still that already sets the wardrobe and the room.

1. A stylized animation that keeps its own texture.

text
The painting comes to life: the boats rock gently, the clouds drift and the water ripples, keeping the thick brushstroke texture.

2. A physics-driven action, mechanism named first.

text
Hot water streams from the kettle spout into the dripper, steam rises and the coffee grounds bloom and bubble.

Run this prompt on Vidu Q3 Pro →

3. A single facial beat, camera held still.

text
She slowly breaks into a genuine smile and tilts her head slightly, her eyes crinkling, while the camera stays still.

Run this prompt on Vidu Q3 Pro →

Weak: "Two people kiss." No pacing, no named cause for the motion, and multi-person prompts are where we saw this tier stall the most. Strong: prompt 3 — one subject, one facial beat, a clear instruction about what the camera does and doesn't do.

How far it goes

Our content ladder runs from L1 Suggestive (lingerie, a slipping strap) through L2 Partial and L3 Strong to L4 Intense (an intimate scene between two adults) and L5 Extreme, tested as two separate probes: consensual restraint and impact play, and cinematic gore.

Across 19 runs between 16 and 25 September 2026, Vidu Q3 Pro rendered every L1, L2, L3 and both L5 Extreme probe types as asked, with no refusals anywhere on the ladder. L4 Intense was the exception: one of three tries came back exactly as written, and two came back softened rather than refused outright. The page label is Uncensored: we add no content filter of our own here.

Not tested yet: two-women or two-men scenes above L1 Suggestive, given the stall we saw on a sofa-kiss prompt in our comparison batch — worth a second look before you rely on this tier for that kind of shot; the full 16-second duration ceiling on any content-ladder rung.

Adults only, in every prompt and every starting image. A real, identifiable person needs to have consented, and you need the rights to any photo you animate.
