What this effect sends
This is the full prompt, word for word. Copy it, or open it in the generator and change anything you like.
Within the first second a gust of wind blows several long strands of hair across the person's eyes and lips. They hold their gaze on the lens through the strands for two full seconds, eyes clearly visible between the hair. Then they hook the strands away with a single fingertip and hold the look with a faint smile. The hand never covers the face. The camera holds close. The person stays exactly as they appear in the photo.Pictures that work best
- Choose a portrait with loose, long hair that is not pinned back.
- Keep the eyes sharp and open in the source photo so they stay readable through the strands.
- Outdoor or open spaces suit the idea of wind better than a tight indoor shot.
- Avoid photos where the hand is already near the face.

How it works

Add one photo
Choose the photo to match the example: include both people for a shared gesture, and keep the face and any hands involved clearly visible. Upload your own photo or start with a Behind the Hair sample.
- 02
Check the price
Behind the Hair defaults to a 5-second clip for $0.185. Swap the model or change the length and resolution before you run — the price on the button updates to match, and that's the whole cost of the clip.

Your Behind the Hair clip renders in the background, lands in History and is never published.
Do the move yourself
Behind the Hair keeps one version of this shot. To give Behind the Hair your own motion or ending, write it yourself in Image to Video, starting from the prompt above.
What it does to your photo
Behind the Hair is all about a look held through a veil of hair. Within the first second a gust of wind blows several long strands across the person's eyes and lips. They keep their gaze on the lens through the strands for two full seconds, eyes clearly visible between the hair. Then they hook the strands away with a single fingertip and hold the look with a faint smile. The hand never covers the face, and the camera stays close.
In our test runs on MiniMax H3, a woman with long black hair and blunt bangs in a black leather biker jacket over a white tee on a city rooftop at night had several strands blown across her eyes and lips within the first second, held her gaze on the lens through the hair for two seconds, then hooked the strands away with a fingertip and held the look with a faint smile. In a second run, a woman with long light-brown waves in a loose cream knit sweater on a city balcony at dusk had her hair blown across her face by a gust within the first second, kept looking at the lens through the strands, then brushed them away by second three and settled into a faint smile.
Long hair, and especially long hair with bangs, gives the wind real strands to work with. Very short or tightly styled hair barely moves, so the effect is weak. Close, chest-up portraits with the eyes visible are best, and a bit of space around the face helps the hair fly. The effect leaves the person exactly as they are in your photo and only adds the motion, light and atmosphere.
It runs on MiniMax H3 for five seconds by default, and H3 itself goes up to 15 seconds and 2K if you want more. Studio also lets you move the same prompt to another model before you generate, such as Seedance 2.0 or Wan 3.0, and the price on the Generate button updates with every change. Our samples were all made on MiniMax H3, so other models will read the prompt in their own way.
A strong fit for moody portraits, profile video loops and fashion-style intros.
The prompt says "hold their gaze on the lens through the strands for two full seconds" and "hook the strands away with a single fingertip". Try making the hold longer, or have the strands drift away on their own instead.
