A cinematic adult-oriented clip needs more than a mood word: the model needs to know who is present, what changes during the shot and what the audience should hear. MiniMax H3, H3 Max and H3 Spicy also accept different inputs, so choosing the route comes before polishing the wording.

Short answer: write the scene in plain language, in the order things happen. In our September 2026 tests, base H3 delivered every adult request we sent, from suggestive to intense, as written. H3 Max refused or toned down most strong or intense requests, so use base H3 for those. The 14 prompts below are copy-paste starting points at the suggestive end.

The 30-second version

  • One formula: who and what they wear, what they do, the camera, the light, the mood, the sound. Plain sentences, in the order things happen.
  • Say it plainly. Wardrobe and props named in plain words render literally; no euphemisms needed.
  • Same person twice? Start from a still. Text-to-video has no seed and may re-cast the face on every run; image-to-video keeps what is in the frame.
  • Keep upper-level prompts off H3 Max. It refused or toned down most of them; send those to base H3.
  • Draft 5 seconds at 768p for $0.185. Unset resolution means 768p too. H3 Spicy clips start at $0.114 (3 seconds), with no sound option.

How to write prompts for MiniMax H3: the six-part formula

Write six things, in the order they happen on screen. Here is prompt 1, taken apart:

PartWhat to writeFrom prompt 1
Subject"Adult", who, wardrobe, whereAn adult woman in an oversized white shirt kneels on an unmade bed
ActionTwo or three beats, joined by "then"She gathers her hair up, lets it fall, then glances back over her shoulder
CameraOne move, in its own sentenceSlow handheld drift toward her.
LightOne source and its colourWarm low sun through sheer curtains
MoodA look, a texture in the airA slow half-smile, dust drifting in the light
SoundWhat we hear, or "no music"Soft room tone, a distant dog barking
  • Fit the beats to the duration. Two or three beats per 5 seconds; fewer for a held expression.
  • Call every person an adult, and with two people, say who does what.
  • Write what you want, not what to avoid. H3 has no negative-prompt field. Constraints inside the prompt are fine, so state what must stay fixed in one positive sentence, such as "She stays fully dressed throughout", and spend the rest on what should happen.
  • Skip quality tags. "8k, masterpiece" describe nothing that moves.
  • Name the camera move, not the feeling. "Pushes in" moves the camera closer; "zooms" changes the lens while the camera stays put.

Check these settings before you run

  • Text-to-video defaults to 16:9, 768p and 5 seconds. Leave the settings alone and a run costs $0.185, which is also the cheapest draft. Length is whole seconds: 5 to 15 on text-to-video, 4 to 15 on reference-to-video, 3 to 15 on H3 Spicy.
  • Leave prompt expansion off on H3 Max. enable_prompt_expansion is off by default on H3 Max. Switched on, MiniMax first rewrites it into a fuller description of shot, sound and music, and details you never wrote can appear. It also adds a flat fee per request. Base H3 no longer has this option.
  • Sound differs by build. H3 and H3 Max generate sound, so the sixth part of the formula does work. H3 Spicy has no audio-control field. Check the delivered track and add or replace it in the edit when needed.

When one paragraph is not enough

For a shot with a requested cut time, several speakers or spoken lines, MiniMax's official H3 prompt guide writes the brief differently: numbered shots with a cut time ([Shot 2] At 00:03.500, the camera cuts to...), camera moves written as type, amplitude and speed ("pushes in with small amplitude at slow speed"), and sound split into room noise and background music. Those are prompt-text structures, not extra SpicyAPI JSON fields; exact cuts and spoken lines still need output inspection. For one short shot, the six-part brief is easier to start with.

14 copy-paste MiniMax H3 prompts, by scene

Every prompt here stays at the suggestive end.

1. Solo: golden hour (text-to-video)

An adult woman in an oversized white shirt kneels on an unmade bed at golden hour, facing the window. She gathers her hair up with both hands, lets it fall, then glances back over her shoulder at the lens with a slow half-smile. Warm low sun through sheer curtains, dust drifting in the light. Slow handheld drift toward her. Soft room tone, a distant dog barking.

Run this prompt on H3 →

2. Solo: the silhouette (text-to-video)

A gauzy white curtain divides the frame. Behind it, backlit by warm lamplight, the soft silhouette of an adult woman unclips her hair and lets a robe slide from her shoulders, only her outline readable through the fabric. A hand reaches from the near side and draws the curtain slowly closed. Static camera, candle flicker, film grain, quiet room tone.

MiniMax H3 text-to-video, 768p, 5 seconds, from the prompt above. The camera never moves, her outline shifts behind the curtain, a hand reaches in for the curtain.

Run this prompt on H3 →

3. Solo: the bath (text-to-video)

An adult woman rises slowly from a deep freestanding bath in a dark tiled bathroom, water running off her shoulders and down her back. She wrings out her hair, reaches for a white towel on the rail and wraps it around herself as she steps onto the stone floor. One warm pendant lamp, steam drifting across the frame. Slow push-in from the doorway. Dripping water, a soft echo, no music.

Run this prompt on H3 →

4. From behind, at dawn (text-to-video)

An adult woman in a loose white linen shirt and trousers stands at an open balcony door at dawn with her back to the camera. The curtain lifts in the breeze and wraps around her; she pushes it aside, stretches both arms overhead, then turns her head in profile toward the sea. Pale blue morning light. The camera cranes up slowly over her shoulder to reveal the water. Waves, gulls, the curtain rustling.

Run this prompt on H3 →

Shooting from behind is a composition choice, not a workaround; the same structure works head-on.

5. Two adults: a slow dance (text-to-video)

Two adults, a woman and a man, stand close in a dim hotel room at night. She loosens his tie and rests her forehead against his while he holds her by the waist, then they sway into a slow dance by the window. Street neon washes the room magenta and blue. The camera circles them once at chest height. Their breathing, muffled city traffic, no music.

Run this prompt on H3 →

Two people get one shared action and one camera move; whatever you leave open, H3 decides.

6. Motion and camera: a full orbit (text-to-video)

An adult woman in a long black silk robe dances alone in an empty loft to a slow bass line. She spins twice so the robe flares out, drops into a low crouch, then rises with both arms over her head. The camera orbits her in a full circle at waist height while she moves. One hard spotlight from above, dust in the beam, dark concrete floor. Slow bass, bare feet on concrete.

Run this prompt on H3 →

7. Face and emotion: the close-up (text-to-video)

Extreme close-up of an adult woman lying on a pillow in candlelight, looking into the lens. She bites her lower lip, breaks into a shy laugh and looks away, then slowly brings her eyes back to the camera, serious again. Shallow focus on her eyes, one candle flickering just out of frame. Static camera. Her quiet breathing, the wick crackling.

Run this prompt on H3 →

A change of expression is an action: chain expressions like movements.

8. Wardrobe and materials: the soaked shirt (text-to-video)

A man stands soaked in a wheat field in a thunderstorm, head tipped back; each lightning strike prints the clinging shirt white for an instant and drops it back to darkness. Wind moving the wheat in waves. Cinematic, heavy film grain, storm silver and green-black.

MiniMax H3 text-to-video, 768p, about 6 seconds, from the prompt above. Lightning turns the wet shirt white, then the frame drops back to dark.

Run this prompt on H3 →

Materials read best when something acts on them. In your own prompts call every person an adult. Swap in "a glossy black raincoat" or "a silver sequined dress" and keep the rain, wind or light that moves it.

9. Night and neon, vertical (text-to-video, set 9:16)

An adult woman in a red satin slip dress leans on the rail of a rooftop pool at night, the city skyline blurred behind her and neon signs reflected in the water. She lets go of the rail, steps down into the glowing pool, then floats on her back looking up at the camera. The camera rises slowly until it looks straight down on her. Magenta and cyan neon, underwater light. City hum, water lapping.

Run this prompt on H3 →

Set 9:16 for a vertical clip; text-to-video defaults to 16:9.

10. Image-to-video: write only what moves

A woman seated at a rain-streaked window at night, exhaling smoke, a red neon sign glowing outside
The opening frame. The woman, the room and the wardrobe all come from here.

She exhales a slow plume of smoke against the rain-streaked glass, the neon outside pulses red across her face, and she turns her head toward camera without changing expression. Rain runs down the window, distant traffic.

MiniMax H3 image-to-video, 768p, 5 seconds, from the still above and the prompt above. The smoke, the neon pulse and the head turn come from the prompt; everything else comes from the frame.

Run this prompt on H3 image-to-video →

The prompt says nothing about her, the room or her clothes: the still carries all that. H3 and H3 Max image-to-video reject a request with no prompt, so always write one line of motion; H3 Spicy is the exception (below).

11. Image-to-video: your own still

She draws a slow breath, pushes herself up on one elbow and turns toward the camera, the sheet gathered around her shoulders. She holds the look, then laughs and falls back into the pillows. The bedside lamp flickers once. Slow push-in, then hold. Quiet room tone, rain on the window.

Run this prompt on H3 image-to-video →

Match the sheet detail to your own still. Make the still with an uncensored image model first.

12. Image-to-video with a closing frame

A woman in a dark silk robe sitting on the edge of an unmade bed by lamplight, an open doorway behind her
Opening frame: she sits on the edge of the bed.
The same bedroom, the woman now standing in the lit doorway, looking back
Closing frame: she stands in the doorway.

She rises from the edge of the bed, lets the silk robe fall closed as she crosses the room, and stops framed in the doorway looking back. Slow handheld push, warm bedside lamp, bare feet on wood.

MiniMax H3 image-to-video, 768p, 8 seconds, from the two frames above and the prompt above. She rises, crosses the room and ends in the doorway.

Run this prompt on H3 image-to-video →

The closing frame sets the destination and the prompt describes the path. Keep both frames in the same light and wardrobe. H3 Spicy takes a closing frame too. On 15-second clips the middle can wander, so keep the two frames close in light and framing.

H3 Spicy: no prompt at all

Send a still with the prompt empty to let H3 Spicy choose the movement. Three seconds at 480p costs $0.114: start with one short clip, then decide whether another version is worth the cost. H3 Spicy also takes an optional seed (0 to 2147483647), so you can hold one seed while you change only the prompt or the length; the same seed does not promise an identical clip. Open H3 Spicy →

Pick H3 Spicy when you want that empty-prompt shortcut, 3-second variants or a seed. Pick H3 image-to-video when you want to direct the move and pay less per second: 5 seconds at 768p is $0.185 there and $0.42 on Spicy. Sound is the other difference: H3 is audiovisual; H3 Spicy exposes no audio switch, so inspect rather than assume the delivered track.

13. H3 Spicy: one beat, straight into the lens

A woman on a red velvet sofa in a black leather harness top and long black opera gloves, one gloved fingertip pointing at the camera
The opening frame for the H3 Spicy clip below.

First person point of view, the camera never moves. She leans in toward the lens until her face and shoulders fill the frame, reaches out and presses one gloved fingertip against the lens, holds eye contact, then tilts her head and smiles. She keeps the black leather harness, satin camisole, long opera gloves and choker on the whole time. The hard overhead light rakes her collarbone and the background stays pure black.

MiniMax H3 Spicy image-to-video, 768p, 5 seconds, from the still above and the prompt above. She leans in until her face fills the frame and presses a fingertip to the lens.

Run this prompt on H3 Spicy →

With a different still, rewrite the wardrobe sentence to match it.

14. Reference-to-video: the same character across shots

Put the outfit on Picture 1. A separate garment picture did not carry over in the clip below, where the woman kept the outfit from her own picture. The recorded request used three pictures:

A woman standing against a grey wall in a black long-sleeved top and black trousers, facing the camera
Picture 1: the woman. Her own picture already has her in a black top and trousers.
A black satin slip with lace trim on a hanger against a grey wall
Picture 2: the black lace slip the prompt asked her to wear.

Picture 1 already includes an outfit; Picture 2 asks H3 to replace it. The room reference below has a separate job: defining where the action happens.

A hotel room at night: a bed, an armchair and a window onto a city skyline
Picture 3: the hotel room.

The recorded prompt was: “Keep the woman from Picture 1 and the black lace slip from Picture 2, in the hotel room from Picture 3. She sits on the arm of the chair, crosses her legs and looks up at camera. Slow handheld drift, warm lamp, quiet room tone.”

MiniMax H3 reference-to-video, 768p, 6 seconds, from the three pictures and recorded prompt. The woman and the hotel room came through, but she keeps her black top and trousers and the slip never appears.

The fix: dress the person in Picture 1 and use the other pictures for place only.

Picture 1 is the woman, already wearing the red dress. Picture 2 is the loft bedroom. She sits on the edge of the bed in the room from Picture 2, pulls her hair over one shoulder and looks up at the camera, then lies back slowly. Slow handheld drift, warm lamp, quiet room tone.

Run this prompt on H3 reference-to-video →

To go further

The level lives in the subject line; the structure above stays the same. For a stronger scene:

  • Name the state of dress with the ordinary noun, not a euphemism.
  • Two consenting adults: say who does what, one plain verb per beat.
  • Keep two or three beats per 5 seconds and end on a closing beat.
  • One steady camera move.
  • From a still, write only the motion, and make the still with an uncensored image model.

Weak vs strong: three pairs

The person. Weak: "Beautiful woman on a bed, cinematic, 8k." Strong: prompt 1. The weak one hands body, wardrobe, action, camera and sound to H3, and base H3 offers no seed control to pin a repeat.

The motion. Weak: "She dances beautifully. Dynamic cinematic camera. She stays in place, locked framing." Strong: prompt 6. "Beautifully" names no specific dance step, while "dynamic cinematic camera" conflicts with "locked framing". Dancing in place with a fixed camera is perfectly possible; describe the step and choose one camera direction.

The still. Weak, on image-to-video: "A beautiful woman with long dark hair lying on white sheets, ultra realistic, 8k." Strong: prompt 11. The weak one re-describes the frame, leaving nothing to animate, and any detail that disagrees with the still makes the clip negotiate between the two.

What gets toned down, and what gets through

Base H3 delivered the adult requests we sent. H3 Max and H3 Spicy behaved differently.

MiniMax H3 text-to-video, 768p, 5 seconds. The prompt names a black lace bodysuit and sheer tights and ends "She stays fully dressed throughout." The camera arcs between her back and her reflection in an antique mirror and the outfit never changes.

Where H3 trips up, and the fix

  • Slow, nearly frozen motion. Check whether the subject was given an observable movement and whether the prompt contradicts the opening frame. A fixed camera need not mean a frozen subject. Try one clear action with a finish point and a small environmental change; adding more actions or an unwanted camera move can make the shot harder to control.
  • The camera wanders. Say what it does: "Static camera" held in prompt 2, "the camera never moves" in prompt 13. H3 users on r/comfyui report cuts and pans even after "stationary camera". If it pans toward a background object, try removing later instructions to "focus on" or "show" that object while keeping the fixed-framing instruction.
  • A different person every run. Of H3, Max and Spicy in this guide, only Spicy takes a seed (the separate LoRA families also do), and even then the clip is not guaranteed identical. Fix: make the still once and use image-to-video, or reuse the same reference images.
  • The wardrobe reference doesn't show. In the published prompt-14 failure, Picture 1's outfit remained instead of Picture 2's garment. Fix: dress the person image.
  • A move repeats, or the action ends early. Give the action a finish line ("then holds on the look") and match beats to length.
  • Sound you didn't ask for. H3 adds audio even when the prompt never mentions sound. Fix: name the sound you want and add "no music" if a score would get in the way.
  • H3 Max: square and 8 seconds unless you say otherwise. Left unset, H3 Max text-to-video renders 8 seconds of 1:1 video at 768p for $0.64. Set length and shape, and write every detail.
  • 15 seconds is the ceiling. Use a clip's last frame as the next opening frame; the longer uncensored video guide shows the chain.

What a usable clip costs

Budget for creative retries even when the content is accepted: a wrong move, changed face or missing costume can make a billed output unusable. Start at the cheapest tier that lets you judge the shot.

ClipPrice
H3, 5 s at 768p (draft)$0.185
H3, 5 s at 2k$0.29
H3 reference-to-video, 5 s at 768p, 3 images$0.2054
H3 Spicy, 3 s at 480p$0.114
H3 Spicy, 5 s at 768p$0.42
H3 Spicy, 5 s at 1080p$0.76
H3 Max, 5 s at 480p$0.25
H3 Max, 5 s at 768p$0.40

One finished 5-second 768p clip: three 768p drafts ($0.555) plus the keeper ($0.185), $0.74. On H3 Spicy, five 3-second drafts ($0.57) plus a 768p keeper ($0.42), $0.99. Spicy's 1080p tier is its 768p picture enlarged, so 768p is the tier to pay for.

A refused job normally releases its hold in full; a model page can state an exception, so check settled and cost on the task (policy). A softened clip is billed like any other. An upper-level prompt on H3 Max usually comes back refused, but when it tones the clip down instead you pay $0.25 to $0.40 for a clip you can't use. Prices from our public catalogue.

Try it in the Playground first

  1. Open the H3 text-to-video page and stay on the Playground tab in Form view. Sign in to run it.
  2. Paste prompt 1 into Prompt.
  3. Leave Resolution at 768p (the default; the other option is 2k), set Duration to 5, and leave Aspect ratio at 16:9 unless the prompt is vertical. The price estimate updates before you submit.
  4. Run it, then change one thing in the prompt and run again.

For image-to-video, use the image-to-video page: add your still under Input image (an optional Closing frame tightens the ending) and write only what moves. The Playground body is the same JSON the API takes, so a setup that works there copies straight into code.

Then run it from code

Install the Python SDK (pip install spicyapi), set SPICY_API_KEY in your environment and run this image-to-video call:

python
import uuid
from spicyapi import SpicyClient, output_assets

client = SpicyClient() # reads SPICY_API_KEY from the environment

task = client.create_task(
    model="minimax/h3/image-to-video",
    input_data={
        "image_url": "https://example.com/your-opening-frame.png",
        "prompt": "From this opening frame, she draws a slow breath, turns toward the camera, "
                  "then holds the look. One slow push-in. Quiet room tone, no music.",
        "resolution": "768p",
        "duration_seconds": 5,
    },
    idempotency_key=str(uuid.uuid4()),
)

final = client.wait_for_terminal(task["taskId"])
if final["state"] != "succeeded":
    raise RuntimeError(f"{task['taskId']} ended as {final['state']}: {final.get('errorCode')}")
print(output_assets(final)[0]["url"]) # copy the clip to your own storage now

Every MiniMax model here takes the same key and request shape. Change model and match input to the task: text-to-video has no image field, reference-to-video takes reference_image_urls, and H3 Spicy makes prompt optional. Creating, waiting, downloading and error codes are in the tasks guide and the Python SDK reference; every option is on the MiniMax H3 model page. Results expire, so read retention and delivery before you build on the returned link.

Or let an Agent run it

When an assistant should run the prompts, all three official tools show the price and ask you before a paid call.

  • CLI. Put the same input object in input.json, then:

``bash spicyapi tasks create --model minimax/h3/image-to-video --input-file input.json --wait ``

See the CLI docs; npx @spicyapi/cli works without installing.

  • MCP server. Add the MCP server to your assistant, then ask: "Run MiniMax H3 text-to-video with prompt 1 at 768p for 5 seconds." It calls spicyapi_task_create, which stops for your price confirmation, then spicyapi_task_wait.
  • Skill. npx skills add spicyapi-ai/spicy-skill installs the Agent Skill, which has a coding assistant read the live model schema instead of guessing fields.

FAQ

How do I write uncensored prompts for MiniMax H3?

Six plain sentences in time order: the adult subject and wardrobe, two or three beats of action, one camera move, the light, the mood, the sound. Prompt 1 is the template.

Can I just write it plainly?

Use plain descriptions of the intended scene. For single-subject scenes plain language is enough; the official structured format pays off with many references or look-alike characters.

Why did my MiniMax video come back toned down?

Check the exact model and the delivered scene. H3 Max softened or refused many upper-category requests; H3 Spicy softened one intense image clip. Start with base H3, and treat a changed composition as a creative error, not softening.

Does MiniMax H3 have a negative prompt?

There is no separate field. Write the result you want: "She stays fully dressed throughout" requests outfit continuity and matched the published mirror example; Short constraints inside the prompt are normal.

Do these work as uncensored Hailuo prompts?

Hailuo is MiniMax's consumer video brand. These prompts are written for MiniMax H3 on this API, which adds no content filter. Other hosts answer the same model differently, so test there first.

Can I make a MiniMax clip longer than 15 seconds?

Not in one generation on these tasks. Chain clips through the last frame, as in the fix above; inspect continuity because a longer duration or a supplied frame does not promise an uninterrupted take.

Your part

We don't put a content filter in front of these models, so that does not remove your responsibilities for the inputs and outputs. Everyone on screen must be an adult. Any real, identifiable person must have consented. You need the rights to what you upload, and you're responsible for the law where you publish.

Run your first prompt

Create an account, open MiniMax H3 in the Playground and paste prompt 1. Draft at 768p for $0.185; when the motion is right, run it again at 2k.
