What this effect sends
This is the full prompt, word for word. Copy it, or open it in the generator and change anything you like.
The main subject reaches toward the camera with a playful smile and presses their palm over the lens, briefly darkening the frame, then slowly slides the hand away to reveal them leaning a little closer, eyes on the lens with a knowing smile. The camera holds steady. The person stays exactly as they appear in the photo.Pictures that work best
- Chest-up or three-quarter framing keeps the reach believable.
- A spare hand is needed for the palm over the lens.
- Faces toward the camera make the reveal land.
- Use it between two clips if you want a seamless-looking cut.

Add one photo
Choose the photo to match the example: include both people for a shared gesture, and keep the face and any hands involved clearly visible. Upload your own photo or start with a Hand Over Lens sample.
- 02
Check the price
Hand Over Lens defaults to a 5-second clip for $0.185. Swap the model or change the length and resolution before you run — the price on the button updates to match, and that's the whole cost of the clip.

Do the move yourself
Hand Over Lens keeps one version of this shot. To give Hand Over Lens your own motion or ending, write it yourself in Image to Video, starting from the prompt above.
What it does to your photo
Hand Over Lens is a playful in-camera transition. Your subject reaches toward the camera with a smile and presses their palm over the lens, briefly darkening the frame, then slowly slides the hand away to reveal them leaning a little closer, eyes on the lens with a knowing smile. The camera holds steady through the whole move.
In our test runs on MiniMax H3, a woman in sunglasses and a knotted pink shirt on a rooftop pool deck reached for the camera, filled the frame with her palm around second three, and slid it away to reveal her closer and laughing. In a second run, a man in a denim jacket in a diner booth pressed his palm over the lens until the frame went fully black for a moment, then pulled it away leaning closer with a cheeky grin.
Chest-up and three-quarter photos with a spare hand work best. The reach needs the subject to be within arm's length of the camera, so very wide shots are less convincing.
It runs on MiniMax H3 for five seconds by default, and H3 itself goes up to 15 seconds and 2K if you want more. Studio also lets you move the same prompt to another model before you generate, such as Seedance 2.0 or Wan 3.0, and the price on the Generate button updates with every change. Our samples were all made on MiniMax H3, so other models will read the prompt in their own way.
It is a natural transition between two clips, a playful hello or a cheeky "no peeking" moment in a set.
The prompt is public and editable. For a longer dark moment, add "holding it there for a beat" after "over the lens"; for a bigger reveal, swap "knowing smile" for "wink".
