What this effect sends
This is the full prompt, word for word. Copy it, or open it in the generator and change anything you like.
The room starts fully lit. Within the first second the person reaches out to a light switch beside them and flips it. The main light clicks off and the room drops into darkness, leaving only the warm amber glow of a single lamp lighting one side of their face. By the third second they turn back to the lens in the low lamplight with a knowing smile and hold it, the rest of the room in deep shadow, and it stays dark to the end. The person stays exactly as they appear in the photo.Pictures that work best
- Start with a photo with a light switch or lamp visible in frame.
- A bright, even room gives the drop to darkness more drama.
- Keep the person near the wall with the switch.
- The lamp should be a clear shape, so the amber glow looks like it belongs.

How it works

Add one photo
Choose the photo to match the example: include both people for a shared gesture, and keep the face and any hands involved clearly visible. Upload your own photo or start with a Lights Down sample.
- 02
Check the price
Lights Down defaults to a 5-second clip for $0.185. Swap the model or change the length and resolution before you run — the price on the button updates to match, and that's the whole cost of the clip.

What it does to your photo
Lights Down is a switch-flip in a lit room. The room starts fully lit. Within the first second the person reaches out to a light switch beside them and flips it. The main light clicks off and the room drops into darkness, leaving only the warm amber glow of a single lamp lighting one side of their face. By the third second they turn back to the lens in the low lamplight with a knowing smile and hold it, the rest of the room in deep shadow, staying dark to the end.
In our test runs on MiniMax H3, a bald Black man in his fifties with black-framed glasses, a grey beard and a burgundy crew-neck sweater, standing in a green-walled doorway, turned and flipped the wall switch within the first second; by second two the ceiling light died and the room sank into darkness except a warm table lamp, and he turned back to the lens and ended with a smile in the low light. In a second run, a young Black man with a short fade and trimmed beard, in a white T-shirt and grey sweatpants, leaning with folded arms against a hallway doorframe, turned and reached out to switch off the light within the first second; by second two the hall dropped into darkness lit only by a single amber wall sconce on his face, and he leaned back, folded his arms and ended smiling at the lens.
Photos where a wall switch is visible beside the person, and a lamp is in the room, work best. Rooms without any lamp leave the dark moment with no warm light source. Chest-up framing keeps the face and the lamp glow in view. The effect leaves the person exactly as they are in your photo and only adds the motion, light and atmosphere.
It runs on MiniMax H3 for five seconds by default, and H3 itself goes up to 15 seconds and 2K if you want more. Studio also lets you move the same prompt to another model before you generate, such as Seedance 2.0 or Wan 3.0, and the price on the Generate button updates with every change. Our samples were all made on MiniMax H3, so other models will read the prompt in their own way.
Works for cozy evening clips, mood intros and quiet transitions.
The prompt says "flips it" about the light switch and "warm amber glow of a single lamp". Try changing the lamp to candlelight, or have them dim the light gradually instead.
