Kling 2.5 Turbo Review: 1080p Clips With Sound Baked In

Pick Kling 2.5 Turbo when a clip needs a real soundtrack baked in at 1080p; skip it if you need silence or content past lingerie level.

Kling 2.5 Turbo takes either a written prompt or an opening frame and returns a 5 or 10 second clip at 1080p, and every clip lands with a real audio track already mixed in - ambience, effects, whatever the scene calls for. There's no field to turn that off. On image-to-video you can also pin a closing frame so the last pose is exact rather than wherever the model decides to stop.

The verdict

In our 28 September 2026 content-ladder run it rendered L1 Suggestive (lingerie, a slipping strap) on text-to-video, but on image-to-video both suggestive opening frames we tried were refused after the clip had rendered. L2 Partial was refused on both tasks - at the upload stage on image-to-video, but only after a full render on text-to-video - and an L3 Strong opening frame was refused in about ten seconds. The one exception is violence: the single L5 Extreme gore probe we sent on image-to-video rendered (open wounds, blood). We didn't run L4 Intense or the restraint-and-impact probe on this family. Refused requests never cost anything, including the ones that get rejected mid-render.

On Artificial Analysis's image-to-video leaderboard (no sound), Kling 2.5 Turbo placed 10th of 82 on 28 September 2026; on the text-to-video leaderboard the same day it placed 27th of 86. Full scoring and the current Spicy Index and Freedom Score are on the test report for this model rather than a number printed here.

Key facts

  • Content ladder: L1 Suggestive rendered on text-to-video, but both suggestive opening frames were refused on image-to-video; L2 Partial was refused on both tasks and L3 Strong on image-to-video. The one L5 Extreme gore probe we sent, on image-to-video, rendered; L4 Intense and the restraint probe weren't tested.
  • Price: $0.056 a second, 1080p only. A 5-second clip is $0.28, a 10-second clip is $0.56.
  • Limits: 5 or 10 second duration, 1080p only, sound on every clip with no silent option. Image-to-video accepts JPEG or PNG only - WebP is rejected.
  • Sources: every scored run is in the Kling 2.5 Turbo test report, scoring rules are on our review methodology page, and the full parameter list is on the Kling 2.5 Turbo model page.

What we liked and what held it back

What we liked

  • Audio arrives without a separate step. Every clip, on either task, carries a real soundtrack with content that matches the scene rather than generic room tone.
  • A closing frame pins the ending. On image-to-video, last_image_url locks the final pose - useful when a clip has to end on a specific look rather than wherever the model decides to stop.
  • L1 Suggestive renders on text-to-video. Our lingerie-level prompt passed on both text-to-video runs; image-to-video is stricter, as covered below.
  • The gore probe rendered on image-to-video. If a scene calls for visible injury rather than intimacy, this is one of the few Kling routes in our lineup where that content came through instead of being refused - though we sent it just once.
  • Refusals are free. Some come back within seconds at the upload stage, others only after the clip has rendered (almost five minutes in one of our runs), and nothing is charged for a refused request.

What held it back

  • No silent option. If your project needs a clip you'll score yourself, or a still-adjacent test loop, the built-in soundtrack is not optional here.
  • 1080p only, no lower tier. There's no 720p option on this endpoint to bring the price down; for that, look at Kling 2.1 or Kling 2.6 instead.
  • L2 Partial and up refuse outright. Every L2 Partial request was refused on both tasks, as was the L3 Strong opening frame we tried on image-to-video - there's no softened middle ground, just a refusal, sometimes only after the clip has rendered.
  • The closing frame only pins the end, not the path there. On a 10-second clip especially, the middle can drift more than on a 5-second one if the opening and closing frames aren't close in light and pose.
  • Image uploads must be JPEG or PNG. A WebP opening or closing frame is rejected before the request runs.

What the results look like

On image-to-video, an opening frame of a woman in a black dress mid-spin, with the prompt asking for a storm of shattering glass and a slow camera orbit, came back with the spin, the hanging glass and raindrops and the orbit all present - the still supplied only her pose and wardrobe, everything else came from the text. A breakdancer opening frame with a prompt for a windmill spin into a one-hand freeze, under neon strobing from pink to cyan, tracked the whole move with a low circling camera and carried the color shift through even though the source photo showed neither the strobing nor the motion.

On text-to-video, written from nothing, a prompt for two riders galloping horses through beach surf at sunrise produced a low tracking shot that kept pace with both riders, with the hoofbeats and spray arriving on the audio track automatically. A second prompt for two men racing bicycles down a steep cobbled street in Lisbon, written to describe them as "a couple," still read on screen as two friends racing rather than a couple - the tracking shot and body language in the render carried more weight than the label in the prompt.

Prompts that worked

Kling 2.5 Turbo responds well to a prompt that names one continuous camera move and lets the audio track follow from what's on screen, rather than describing sound directly.

1. A spin with a camera orbit, from an opening frame.

text
She spins through the storm of shattering glass, the black dress flaring out in a wide circle, shards and raindrops hanging in slow motion around her, then she stops and lifts her chin toward the light. The camera orbits slowly around her.

2. A written scene with implied sound, no separate audio instruction.

text
Sunrise on a wide empty beach. A man and a woman in their thirties gallop two horses side by side through the shallow surf, spray exploding under the hooves, her hair and his open linen shirt streaming in the wind; they glance at each other.

Run this prompt on Kling 2.5 Turbo →

Weak: "make a cool video with music." With no camera move or physical cause named, there's nothing for the model to anchor motion or sound to. Strong: prompt 1 - one camera behavior (the orbit), one physical event (the glass and raindrops), and a clear final beat (the chin lift).

How far it goes

Kling reviews every request itself, in three layers: the prompt text, any uploaded image, and the finished clip. Rung by rung: L1 Suggestive rendered on text-to-video in both of our runs, but image-to-video's boundary sits lower - both opening frames we tried, a see-through slip nightdress and black sheer lace lingerie, were refused after the clip had already rendered. L2 Partial was refused every time, on both tasks: at the upload stage on image-to-video, but only after a full render on text-to-video (about two and about five minutes in). L3 Strong was tested on image-to-video alone, where the opening frame was refused in about ten seconds. We didn't run L4 Intense or the L5 Extreme restraint-and-impact probe on this family; the single L5 Extreme gore probe we sent, on image-to-video, rendered. There's no quiet softening anywhere on this family: a clip either comes back exactly as written or the request fails outright, with no charge either way. The page label is Filtered: this is Kling's own review, not a filter we add.

Not tested yet: L3 Strong on text-to-video; L4 Intense and the L5 Extreme restraint-and-impact probe on either task; the gore probe on text-to-video; two-women or two-men scenes above L1 Suggestive.

For anything past lingerie level, one of our Spicy families - such as Wan 2.2 Spicy or MiniMax H3 - is the better route. Adults only, in every prompt and every starting image. A real, identifiable person needs to have consented, and you need the rights to any photo you animate.

What the community says

Discussing physics and motion quality around the model's September 2025 launch, a commenter on Hacker News wrote that "Kling 2.5 is already pretty good at physics" during a thread about a competing video model - a read that lines up with the shattering-glass and windmill-spin clips in our own tests, where the physical motion the prompt described came through with little drift.
