What this effect sends
This is the full prompt, word for word. Copy it, or open it in the generator and change anything you like.
Shot on old film. Within the first second a burst of red and orange light leaks in from the edge of the frame and floods across the cool scene, heavy grain and flicker crawling over the picture. By the third second the burn swallows half the frame in blazing orange and red, then flares to pure white for an instant like the film burning through, and fades back to the person, now washed in warm amber, looking into the lens. Grain and flicker stay to the end. The person stays exactly as they appear in the photo.Pictures that work best
- Start with a cool-toned or muted photo.
- Overcast daylight is a strong match.
- Keep the person's face clear of heavy shadow.
- Leave space at the frame edges where the light can come in.

How it works

Add one photo
Choose the photo to match the example: include both people for a shared gesture, and keep the face and any hands involved clearly visible. Upload your own photo or start with a Film Burn sample.
- 02
Check the price
Film Burn defaults to a 5-second clip for $0.185. Swap the model or change the length and resolution before you run — the price on the button updates to match, and that's the whole cost of the clip.

Generate
Your Film Burn clip renders in the background, lands in History and is never published.
Do the move yourself
Film Burn keeps one version of this shot. To give Film Burn your own motion or ending, write it yourself in Image to Video, starting from the prompt above.
What it does to your photo
Film Burn recreates a roll of old film catching fire. The shot looks like it was made on old film. Within the first second a burst of red and orange light leaks in from the frame's edge and floods across the cool scene, with heavy grain and flicker crawling over the picture. By the third second the burn swallows half the frame in blazing orange and red, then flares to pure white for an instant like the film burning through, and fades back to the person, now washed in warm amber, looking into the lens. Grain and flicker stay to the end.
In our test runs on MiniMax H3, a red-bearded, freckled young man in a grey beanie and navy double-breasted peacoat on an overcast stone-built city street saw a streak of red light leak in from the corner within the first second, along with rounded film edges and dust specks; by second three a blaze of orange and red swallowed most of the frame and flared almost white, then receded to leave him in warm, faded film tones.
Cool, neutral or gray scenes, such as an overcast street, let the warm leak stand out the most. Photos that are already orange or sunset toned hide the change. Chest-up or medium portraits work well, as the face needs to stay readable under the glow. The effect leaves the person exactly as they are in your photo and only adds the film look.
It runs on MiniMax H3 for five seconds by default, and H3 itself goes up to 15 seconds and 2K if you want more. Studio also lets you move the same prompt to another model before you generate, such as Seedance 2.0 or Wan 3.0, and the price on the Generate button updates with every change. Our samples were all made on MiniMax H3, so other models will read the prompt in their own way.
Works for retro edits, music clips and nostalgic transitions.
The prompt says "a burst of red and orange light leaks in from the edge of the frame" and "flares to pure white for an instant". Try changing the leak to pink and gold, or skip the white flash for a gentler fade.
