Continue a clip with Seedance 2.0 Mini: the last frame of your video opens a new 4 to 15 second segment with sound, and you get back one file with the original and the continuation joined, at 480p or 720p.

    What happens next

Pick a clip in step 1 and this step opens.

Optional. What happens next: the action that follows, the camera move and the sound. Left out, the model decides the motion from the last frame. The opening frame already fixes the subject and the set, so spend any words on motion. at least 1 characters
    affects price
Size of the new segment: 480p or 720p, default 720p. Match your source: it only sets the quality of the new segment, and a lower setting makes the new part look softer than the original. The joined file keeps your clip’s framing with no black bars; to line the seam up, the picture may be trimmed or adjusted by a few percent at the edges. If the model returns a noticeably different shape, the new segment is scaled to fill your frame and centered, cropping what spills over. It sets the price.
    Durationaffects price
Length of the new segment in whole seconds: 4 to 15, or -1 to let the model choose, in which case 15 seconds are held up front and the charge settles on the length delivered. Defaults to 5. Your source is added on top and is not billed. no lower than 4 · no higher than 15
    Generate audioaffects price
On by default, so the new segment comes with generated sound; switching it off does not lower the price in this tier. Your source keeps its own sound either way; when one side is silent, the joined file is padded with silence.
Safety checkerOff

SpicyAPI does not run a safety checker on this model. Your prompt and media go to the model as written, and the model itself decides what comes back.

Before you spend

text-to-video

Prompt-only is the least literal route. Seedance's own safety layer sits in front of generation and refuses some wording outright — kissing is the consistent trigger, and the request comes back rejected before a frame renders. The same beat written as a whisper at the ear or foreheads touching passes. When you need the literal action, drive it from a first frame on image-to-video, or run the shot on a Wan family, which accepts the wording Seedance refuses.

image-to-video

The dependable path to a literal result: whatever the opening frame shows is already in the clip, so the prompt only has to describe motion, and it is optional here. image_url is required; last_image_url is accepted only alongside it, and when the two frames differ in shape the closing one is cropped to match. This endpoint takes no reference assets and there is no seed in this tier, so hold every other field constant when comparing takes.

reference-to-video

A separate contract with no image_url. Ceilings are 9 images, 3 videos and 3 audio tracks, at least one image or video is required, and references are read in the order you send them, so the prompt has to say which one is which character. Reference clips run 2 to 15 seconds each and 15 seconds together, and their seconds are billed on top of the output.

all

Rights and consent for everything you send and publish stay yours: adults only, licensed material, no non-consensual imagery, no impersonation of a real person. Generated files are kept for 14 days, so copy anything you intend to keep into your own storage.

What it does

Same contracts, smallest tier

Nothing is missing from the schema

Mini publishes the same endpoints and the same field set as Seedance 2.0 Fast — adaptive framing plus six fixed ratios, smart duration, native audio — with resolution capped at 720p. A pipeline written against Mini moves to Fast by changing the model id, not the request.

Past the fifteen-second ceiling

Build long sequences with Video Extend

Send an approved clip to the video-extend endpoint and its final frame opens a new shot, returned joined to the original in one MP4. Each step is billed only for the seconds it adds, and the joined result can be extended again. Wardrobe, set and light are carried by the frame rather than by a prompt that has to describe them again.

One caveat worth planning around

No seed in this tier

Neither Mini nor Fast publishes a seed field, so two runs of the same request will differ. Comparing prompt variants means holding every other field constant and reading the difference as a tendency across several takes rather than a single frame-for-frame diff.

Where it fits

  • Everyday lifestyle b-roll at volume

Morning light through a window, a duvet pulled over a face, dust in a sunbeam: the ordinary shots a catalogue or an app needs hundreds of and nobody wants to schedule a shoot for. The clip on this page is exactly that, generated from a prompt alone.

  • Uncensored shorts, couples included

Scenes the official app blocks, couples of any gender included, all run, and nothing you generate is reviewed on our side. Seedance's own layer refuses some wording, so drive those beats from a first frame on image-to-video.

  • One brief delivered in every shape at once

Fix the prompt and fan it out across 16:9, 9:16 and 1:1 in the same batch. Because the tier is built for throughput, three shapes of the same idea is a routine job rather than a decision that needs sign-off.

  • Draft at 480p, deliver at 720p

Sweep cheap 480p passes until the action and the framing read, then re-run the same request at 720p for the take you keep. There is no seed in this tier, so budget for a close variation rather than an identical frame.

How to call the Seedance 2.0 Mini API

  1. 1. Pick the endpoint from what you already have

Nothing but a description goes to text-to-video. A still goes to image-to-video. A cast, a product or a camera move that has to carry across shots goes to reference-to-video, which also takes up to 3 clips as motion and camera references. There is no edit endpoint: to continue a scene, send the approved clip to video-extend, which opens the next shot on its final frame and returns one joined file.

  2. 2. Write the shot as a shot list

Subject, action, camera, light, sound, one idea per sentence. The clip on this page came from exactly this text: “Morning in a sunlit studio apartment. An adult woman in an oversized grey t-shirt stretches her arms overhead beside the window, the hem lifting slightly, then drops onto the unmade bed and pulls the duvet over her face laughing. Warm dust in the light shaft, handheld, soft film grain, quiet room tone and distant traffic.” Five seconds, 720p, 16:9, audio on.

  3. 3. Batch it as async tasks and keep the ids

Every endpoint here is asynchronous, which suits fan-out: send an Idempotency-Key per request, store the task ids, and let polling or callbacks resolve them. After a dropped connection look the task up instead of creating it again — the key is honoured for 24 hours.

The short version

Seedance 2.0 Mini is the smallest member of ByteDance's Seedance 2.0 line, published here as separate APIs: text-to-video, image-to-video, reference-to-video and video-extend. Every endpoint returns 4 to 15 seconds at 480p or 720p, or a length the model picks when duration_seconds is -1, with a native soundtrack generated alongside the frames unless generate_audio is switched off, and aspect_ratio defaults to adaptive. Reference-to-video takes up to 9 images, 3 clips and 3 audio tracks, addressed in the prompt, and needs at least one image or clip among them. Billing is per second of video: duration and resolution set the price, and on reference-to-video the seconds of your reference clips count as well. There is no content review on our side and no mature flag to set, uncensored work included, within the boundaries recorded above.
