What this effect sends
This is the full prompt, word for word. Copy it, or open it in the generator and change anything you like.
A living photograph. The person stays completely frozen like a still photo: no blinking, no breathing, no movement of the hair, and the camera is locked off with no drift, zoom or cut. Only the biggest element behind them comes alive, with large, clearly visible motion: falling water, waves, clouds or passing lights pour and roll past in a continuous seamless loop. The frozen person against the rushing background holds for the whole shot. The person stays exactly as they appear in the photo.Pictures that work best
- Choose a photo where one background element is much larger than the rest.
- Keep the subject sharp and well lit so the stillness reads as intentional.
- Avoid photos with many small moving parts; one big motion looks better.
- Sharp edges between subject and background help keep the person from rippling.

How it works
- 01
Add one photo
Choose the photo to match the example: include both people for a shared gesture, and keep the face and any hands involved clearly visible. Upload your own photo or start with a Cinemagraph sample.
- 02
Check the price
Cinemagraph defaults to a 5-second clip for $0.185. Swap the model or change the length and resolution before you run — the price on the button updates to match, and that's the whole cost of the clip.
- 03
Generate
Your Cinemagraph clip renders in the background, lands in History and is never published.
Do the move yourself
Cinemagraph keeps one version of this shot. To give Cinemagraph your own motion or ending, write it yourself in Image to Video, starting from the prompt above.
What it does to your photo
Cinemagraph makes one thing move in a still picture. The person stays completely frozen like a photograph: no blinking, no breathing, no movement of the hair, and the camera is locked off with no drift, zoom or cut. Only the biggest element behind them comes alive, with large, clearly visible motion: falling water, waves, clouds or passing lights pour and roll past in a continuous seamless loop. The contrast between the still person and the rushing background holds for the whole shot.
In our test runs on MiniMax H3, a white-bearded elderly man in a flat cap and camel overcoat stood frozen like a photo on wet black rocks for the full five seconds while the huge waterfall behind him kept pouring, a warm glow slid over the falls around second two, and from second three and a half surf churned through the rocks at his feet. In a second run, on a green sea cliff at golden hour, a tiny figure in red stood perfectly still while the locked-off frame came alive around it: surf churned below, waterfalls began spilling off the cliff face by second two, and a big wave crashed white against the rocks by second three.
Photos with one clearly dominant moving element behind the person, such as a waterfall, sea or night traffic, work best. Scenes with nothing that naturally moves, like a plain wall, leave the effect little to animate. A sharp, still subject helps the contrast read. The effect leaves the person exactly as they are in your photo and only adds the motion, light and atmosphere.
It runs on MiniMax H3 for five seconds by default, and H3 itself goes up to 15 seconds and 2K if you want more. Studio also lets you move the same prompt to another model before you generate, such as Seedance 2.0 or Wan 3.0, and the price on the Generate button updates with every change. Our samples were all made on MiniMax H3, so other models will read the prompt in their own way.
A good fit for looping backgrounds, website headers and atmospheric posts.
The prompt says "The person stays completely frozen like a still photo" and "falling water, waves, clouds or passing lights". Name the single element you want to move, such as only the clouds, to keep the effect focused.
