What this effect sends

This is the full prompt, word for word. Copy it, or open it in the generator and change anything you like.

On the horizon behind the person a towering wall of sand rises and rolls forward, blotting out the sun. It races closer every second, wind whipping their hair, until the orange sandstorm swallows the whole frame around them while they stand still and look into the lens. The person stays exactly as they appear in the photo.

Pictures that work best

  • A clear horizon behind the person gives the wall room to form.
  • Loose hair shows the wind best.
  • Open outdoor photos work better than tight interiors.
  • If the final frame is too dark, ask for a lighter dust cloud in the prompt.

How it works

  1. 01

    Add one photo

Choose the photo to match the example: include both people for a shared gesture, and keep the face and any hands involved clearly visible. Upload your own photo or start with a Dust Wall sample.

  2. 02

    Check the price

Dust Wall defaults to a 5-second clip for $0.185. Swap the model or change the length and resolution before you run — the price on the button updates to match, and that's the whole cost of the clip.

  3. 03

    Generate

Your Dust Wall clip renders in the background, lands in History and is never published.

Do the move yourself

Dust Wall keeps one version of this shot. To give Dust Wall your own motion or ending, write it yourself in Image to Video, starting from the prompt above.

What it does to your photo

On the horizon behind the person a towering wall of sand rises and rolls forward, blotting out the sun. It races closer every second, and wind whips their hair. The orange sandstorm swallows the whole frame around them while they stand still and look into the lens. The effect is one steady build from distant threat to total cover.

In our test runs on MiniMax H3, a red-haired woman in a beige trench coat and heels standing in the middle of a sunny desert highway stood still as a towering wall of sand rose on the horizon in the first second and rolled closer, whipping her hair and coat, until from second four the orange sandstorm swallowed the whole frame around her. In a second run, a dark-haired man with a short beard in an olive trench coat and white shirt on a red-rock canyon road saw a sand wall rise behind him at half a second, had it towering at his back with his coat whipping by second one and a half, and was standing still inside an orange sandstorm by the end.

Needs a photo with a visible horizon or open space behind the person, such as an open field, road or flat landscape, since the wall forms far away. Closed-in scenes give the dust no horizon. The sandstorm tints everything orange, so original colors shift strongly. The effect leaves the person exactly as they are in your photo and only adds the motion, light and atmosphere.

It runs on MiniMax H3 for five seconds by default, and H3 itself goes up to 15 seconds and 2K if you want more. Studio also lets you move the same prompt to another model before you generate, such as Seedance 2.0 or Wan 3.0, and the price on the Generate button updates with every change. Our samples were all made on MiniMax H3, so other models will read the prompt in their own way.

Good for adventure, trailer and dramatic edits, and for turning a plain open-air photo into a storm scene.

Change "orange sandstorm" to "grey dust storm" for a less warm look, or change "races closer every second" to "creeps closer" for a slower approach.
