What this effect sends

This is the full prompt, word for word. Copy it, or open it in the generator and change anything you like.

Everything around the person sinks into total darkness. A single hard spotlight snaps on from directly above, catching them in a cone of white light as smoke rolls through the beam. The camera rises from their feet up to their face, and they lift their chin into the light and look into the lens. The person stays exactly as they appear in the photo.

Pictures that work best

  • Full-length framing lets the camera rise from feet to face.
  • A simple background loses nothing when it goes dark.
  • A relaxed upright stance suits the lifted-chin finish.
  • Name a spotlight color in the prompt for a themed stage.

How it works

  1. 01

    Add one photo

Choose the photo to match the example: include both people for a shared gesture, and keep the face and any hands involved clearly visible. Upload your own photo or start with a Stage Spotlight sample.

  2. 02

    Check the price

Stage Spotlight defaults to a 5-second clip for $0.185. Swap the model or change the length and resolution before you run — the price on the button updates to match, and that's the whole cost of the clip.

  3. 03

    Generate

Your Stage Spotlight clip renders in the background, lands in History and is never published.

Do the move yourself

Stage Spotlight keeps one version of this shot. To give Stage Spotlight your own motion or ending, write it yourself in Image to Video, starting from the prompt above.

What it does to your photo

Everything around the person sinks into total darkness. A single hard spotlight snaps on from directly above, catching them in a cone of white light as smoke rolls through the beam. The camera rises from their feet up to their face. They lift their chin into the light and look into the lens, for a clean stage-reveal feel.

In our test runs on MiniMax H3, a red-haired woman with a low bun in a black high-neck gown on a smoky stage sank into silhouette as the light died at second one, was caught in a single hard white beam from above by second two, and ended in a rising close-up lifting her chin into the light. In a second run, a white-haired older man in thin glasses with a white goatee, wearing a black double-breasted suit and turtleneck on a smoky stage, fell into silhouette as the light died at second one, was caught in a single white beam from above by second two, and ended in a rising close shot lifting his chin into the light.

Works best on a full-body or three-quarter photo of a person standing, since the camera rises from the feet to the face. Dim or plain backgrounds blend most naturally into the darkness. Very busy backgrounds disappear into the dark, so the original scene matters little here. The effect leaves the person exactly as they are in your photo and only adds the motion, light and atmosphere.

It runs on MiniMax H3 for five seconds by default, and H3 itself goes up to 15 seconds and 2K if you want more. Studio also lets you move the same prompt to another model before you generate, such as Seedance 2.0 or Wan 3.0, and the price on the Generate button updates with every change. Our samples were all made on MiniMax H3, so other models will read the prompt in their own way.

Good for performance, music and dramatic intro content, and for a moody portrait reveal.

Change "single hard spotlight" to "single warm spotlight" for a softer light, or change "smoke rolls through the beam" to "dust floats through the beam" for a cleaner look.
