What this effect sends

This is the full prompt, word for word. Copy it, or open it in the generator and change anything you like.

Behind the person a towering wall of ocean water rises many stories high, its shadow sweeping over the scene. The giant wave curls overhead with spray blowing past the person, who stays planted and looks into the lens. The final frames show the wave cresting high above them. The person stays exactly as they appear in the photo.

Pictures that work best

  • Open sky or horizon behind the person gives the wave room.
  • Loose hair shows the spray and wind clearly.
  • Beach or waterfront photos blend most naturally.
  • If you want the wave further away, ask for it to start in the distance in the prompt.

How it works

  1. 01

    Add one photo

Choose the photo to match the example: include both people for a shared gesture, and keep the face and any hands involved clearly visible. Upload your own photo or start with a Wave Wall sample.

  2. 02

    Check the price

Wave Wall defaults to a 5-second clip for $0.185. Swap the model or change the length and resolution before you run — the price on the button updates to match, and that's the whole cost of the clip.

  3. 03

    Generate

Your Wave Wall clip renders in the background, lands in History and is never published.

Do the move yourself

Wave Wall keeps one version of this shot. To give Wave Wall your own motion or ending, write it yourself in Image to Video, starting from the prompt above.

What it does to your photo

Behind the person a towering wall of ocean water rises many stories high, its shadow sweeping over the scene. The giant wave curls overhead with spray blowing past the person, who stays planted and looks into the lens. The final frames show the wave cresting high above them. The camera stays steady so the scale does the work.

In our test runs on MiniMax H3, a man with wet wavy hair in a black wetsuit holding a surfboard on an overcast beach stayed planted and looked into the lens as a dark green wall of ocean water rose behind him from the first second, curling overhead with spray blowing past by second three and towering over him as a giant curling wave at the end. In a second run, a woman with wet black hair in a red long-sleeve surf suit holding a white surfboard on a grey black-sand beach saw the sea rise into a wall at second one, had a turquoise wave towering behind her by second two, and stood planted as it curled high overhead with spray blowing by the end.

Works best on a photo with open space or sky behind the person, such as a beach, shoreline, street or open lot, so the wave has somewhere to rise. Enclosed rooms give the wave no room to build. The wave is generated and sized by the model, so it will not match the real scale of the location. The effect leaves the person exactly as they are in your photo and only adds the motion, light and atmosphere.

It runs on MiniMax H3 for five seconds by default, and H3 itself goes up to 15 seconds and 2K if you want more. Studio also lets you move the same prompt to another model before you generate, such as Seedance 2.0 or Wan 3.0, and the price on the Generate button updates with every change. Our samples were all made on MiniMax H3, so other models will read the prompt in their own way.

Good for dramatic trailers, adventure edits and standout profile clips. Its stillness and scale make a strong cinematic shot.

Change "many stories high" to "ten stories high" for a more specific scale, or change "ocean water" to "storm-dark ocean water" for a stormier mood.
