What this effect sends
This is the full prompt, word for word. Copy it, or open it in the generator and change anything you like.
The person holds still. Within the first second their fingertips and the edge of one shoulder begin to crumble into fine glowing ash. The disintegration is clearly visible over several seconds: flakes and grains peel away from the shoulders, hair and face and stream sideways in a long glowing river of dust that catches the light. By the fourth second only the last of the face remains, still looking into the lens, and the final frame is a drifting cloud of glowing dust where they stood.Pictures that work best
- Use a plain or dark background. The glowing dust stands out against it.
- The last frame has no person in it. Use it as an ending or a transition.
- Head-and-shoulders framing shows the crumbling on the face and shoulders.
- Change the direction of the dust in the prompt if you want it to rise instead of stream sideways.

How it works

Add one photo
Choose the photo to match the example: include both people for a shared gesture, and keep the face and any hands involved clearly visible. Upload your own photo or start with a Turn to Dust sample.
- 02
Check the price
Turn to Dust defaults to a 5-second clip for $0.185. Swap the model or change the length and resolution before you run — the price on the button updates to match, and that's the whole cost of the clip.

Generate
Your Turn to Dust clip renders in the background, lands in History and is never published.
Do the move yourself
Turn to Dust keeps one version of this shot. To give Turn to Dust your own motion or ending, write it yourself in Image to Video, starting from the prompt above.
What it does to your photo
The person holds still. Within the first second their fingertips and the edge of one shoulder begin to crumble into fine glowing ash. The disintegration is clearly visible over several seconds: flakes and grains peel away from the shoulders, hair and face and stream sideways in a long glowing river of dust that catches the light. By the fourth second only the last of the face remains, still looking into the lens, and the final frame is a drifting cloud of glowing dust where they stood.
In our test runs on MiniMax H3, a man with a buzz cut and greying beard in a black turtleneck against a black backdrop began to crumble at the edges of his shoulder and hair into glowing ash by second two, cracks spread across his face by second three, and by the final frame he had broken apart into a drifting cloud of glowing dust with only a faint trace of his face looking out.
Portraits with a plain or dark background work best, since the glowing dust shows against it. Clear edges at the shoulders and hair help the crumbling read. Busy backgrounds can hide the grains. This effect ends with the person gone, so choose it only when that finish fits.
It runs on MiniMax H3 for five seconds by default, and H3 itself goes up to 15 seconds and 2K if you want more. Studio also lets you move the same prompt to another model before you generate, such as Seedance 2.0 or Wan 3.0, and the price on the Generate button updates with every change. Our samples were all made on MiniMax H3, so other models will read the prompt in their own way.
Good for dramatic endings, fantasy and sci-fi clips, and transitions.
Open the prompt in the generator and change "glowing ash" to "golden sparks" for a warmer look, or "stream sideways" to "rise upward" to change the direction of the dust.
