What this effect sends

This is the full prompt, word for word. Copy it, or open it in the generator and change anything you like.

The shot holds on the main subject for a moment, then the camera whips sharply to one side in a fast swish pan, and the whole frame smears into streaks of motion blur as it races past the surroundings until the end of the shot.

Pictures that work best

  • Photos with lights or detail beside the subject give the streaks something bright to smear.
  • Evening and night scenes produce the most striking light trails.
  • Trim the clip in your editor to the length of blur you like, then cut straight into the next shot.
  • Make two whip pans and join them tail to head for a matching in-and-out transition.

How it works

  1. 01

    Add one photo

Choose the photo to match the example: include both people for a shared gesture, and keep the face and any hands involved clearly visible. Upload your own photo or start with a Whip Pan sample.

  2. 02

    Check the price

Whip Pan defaults to a 5-second clip for $0.265. Swap the model or change the length and resolution before you run — the price on the button updates to match, and that's the whole cost of the clip.

  3. 03

    Generate

Your Whip Pan clip renders in the background, lands in History and is never published.

Do the move yourself

Whip Pan keeps one version of this shot. To give Whip Pan your own motion or ending, write it yourself in Image to Video, starting from the prompt above.

What it does to your photo

Whip Pan is the editor's favorite transition. The shot holds on your subject for a moment, then the camera whips sharply to one side and the whole frame smears into streaks of motion blur as it races past the surroundings. Cut your next clip in right at the blur and the two shots join as if the camera swung from one to the other.

It runs on Seedance 2.0 Mini, the lower-priced model. In our test, a woman at a cafe window held the frame for a beat before the camera whipped out to the street outside, where the lamps and the passing cars turned into trails of light.

The move travels away from your subject and ends in motion, so the model has very little of your subject to redraw. When we asked the camera to whip back and land on the person again, the face returned looking like a different person, so we built this effect as a clean exit instead. In a close portrait the face can still shift slightly in the moment before the whip, so check the opening second before you cut.

Use it to stitch clips together in travel reels, fashion edits, music videos and before-and-after reveals.
