Continue a clip with Seedance 2.0: the last frame of your video opens a new 4 to 15 second segment, and you get back one file with the original and the continuation joined, at 480p, 720p, 1080p or 4k.

    What happens next

Pick a clip in step 1 and this step opens.

Optional, but worth writing: what happens next, meaning the action that follows, the camera move and the sound. The opening frame already fixes the subject and the set, so spend the words on motion. Left out, the model decides the motion on its own.
    affects price
Resolution of the new segment: 480p, 720p, 1080p or 4k, default 720p. It sets the price. Match your source so the seam stays sharp: a lower setting looks soft next to the original, and a higher one adds no detail the last frame does not have.
    Durationaffects price
Length of the new segment in whole seconds, 4 to 15, default 5. Pass -1 to let the model choose: 15 seconds are held up front and the charge settles on the length delivered. Your source is added on top and is not billed. no lower than 4 · no higher than 15
    Generate audioaffects price
On by default, so the new segment comes with a soundtrack synchronised to the picture. It is a price dimension, so check the estimate. Your source keeps its own sound either way; when one side is silent, the joined file is padded with silence.
Safety checkerOff

SpicyAPI does not run a safety checker on this model. Your prompt and media go to the model as written, and the model itself decides what comes back.

Before you spend

text-to-video

Prompt-only is the least literal route. Seedance's own safety layer sits in front of generation and refuses some wording outright — kissing is the consistent trigger, and the request comes back rejected before a frame renders. The same beat written as a whisper at the ear or foreheads touching passes. When you need the literal action, drive it from a first frame on image-to-video, or run the shot on a Wan family, where the wording Seedance refuses is accepted.

image-to-video

The dependable path to a literal result: whatever the opening frame shows is already in the clip, so the prompt only has to describe motion. image_url is the only required field here; prompt is optional, and left out the model decides the motion on its own. last_image_url is accepted only alongside image_url, never on its own, and this endpoint takes no reference assets at all.

reference-to-video

A separate contract with no image_url: reference material cannot be mixed into the frame-driven endpoint. Limits are 9 images, 3 videos and 3 audio tracks — a third of what the 2.5 line accepts, so choose references rather than stacking them. They are read in the order you send them, which means the prompt has to say which one is which character.

all

Rights and consent for everything you send and publish stay yours: adults only, licensed material, no non-consensual imagery, no impersonation of a real person. Generated files are kept for 14 days, so copy anything you intend to keep into your own storage.

What it does

Sound with the picture

The room tone comes back in the same file

generate_audio is on by default, so ice in a shaker, a laugh, low bar chatter and the room they happen in all come out of the same pass as the picture. The result arrives already in sync rather than waiting on a sound pass. Switch it off when the clip is going to a designer anyway.

Casting from your own stills

Nine references, one continuous cast

reference-to-video takes up to 9 images, 3 clips and 3 audio tracks together. Three angles of one face plus a wardrobe still holds a character across an episode far better than nine unrelated frames, and a reference clip carries camera language that no adjective in a prompt reliably reproduces.

Framing

The shape follows the material

aspect_ratio defaults to adaptive on all three endpoints. On image-to-video the clip keeps the shape of your opening still, so a portrait frame is not cropped into landscape; on text-to-video the model takes the shape from the prompt; on reference-to-video it finds a frame that holds every referenced subject. Name 16:9, 9:16 or 21:9 only when a placement demands a fixed format.

Where it fits

  • Nightlife and bar scenes that carry their own sound

A cocktail being shaken, glass on a counter, low chatter behind a red lantern: write the room into the prompt and leave generate_audio on. Seedance 2.0 renders the ambience against the picture, so the cut arrives with atmosphere instead of a silent plate.

  • Uncensored costume and roleplay work

Costumes, tail and ear props, first-person framing, couples of any gender: none of it is reviewed on our side. Seedance's own layer refuses some wording, so drive those beats from a first frame on image-to-video rather than from the prompt.

  • Campaign continuity across a set of cuts

Load the product from three angles and the model from two into reference-to-video, then change only the prompt for each cut. The same bottle, the same face and the same jacket travel with the request, so the set holds together without a manual grade pass.

  • One shot delivered in three shapes

Seven aspect ratios, from 21:9 down to 9:16, plus adaptive. Run the same prompt at 16:9 for the site, 9:16 for a vertical feed and 1:1 for a tile. Each run is a fresh take rather than a reframe of the last one, so when the three cuts have to match, drive all of them from the same opening frame on image-to-video and check them side by side before they ship.

How to call the Seedance 2.0 API

  1. 1. Pick the endpoint from what you already have

A description alone goes to text-to-video. A still that has to survive goes to image-to-video. A cast, a product or a piece of motion that has to repeat across cuts goes to reference-to-video. Calling the family name picks the endpoint from the fields you send.

  2. 2. Write the shot as a shot list

Subject, action, camera, light, sound, one idea per sentence. The clip on this page came from exactly this text: “Photorealistic live-action, not animation. A real adult woman in a chocolate satin robe works behind a dim neon bar, a large fluffy faux fox tail accessory clipped at the small of her back. She shakes a cocktail, turns to set the glass on the counter and the tail sways with the movement, then she looks back at camera with a teasing smile. Warm red lantern light, 35mm grain, slow push-in, ice rattling and low bar chatter.” Five seconds, 720p, 16:9, audio on.

  3. 3. Create it as an async task, then iterate one field at a time

Send an Idempotency-Key, keep the task id, poll or take the callback. Draft at 480p and change one field at a time; there is no seed, so every run is a fresh take and a change is best judged over a couple of runs. duration_seconds and resolution move the estimate, and so does reference footage on reference-to-video.

The short version

Seedance 2.0 is ByteDance's video model, published here as separate APIs: text-to-video, image-to-video, reference-to-video and video-extend. Each returns 4 to 15 seconds at 480p, 720p, 1080p or 4K, in any of seven aspect ratios, with a native soundtrack generated alongside the frames unless generate_audio is switched off. The reference endpoint accepts up to 9 images, 3 clips and 3 audio tracks in one request; the frame endpoint takes an opening still and an optional closing still. Billing is per second of generated video, so duration and resolution move the price, with reference footage added on the reference endpoint. There is no content review on our side and no mature flag to set, uncensored work included, within the boundaries recorded above.
