What this effect sends

This is the full prompt, word for word. Copy it, or open it in the generator and change anything you like.

The camera rises straight up above the person, then spirals back down toward them, rotating a full turn as it descends so the ground and everything around them spin like a kaleidoscope. It ends close above their face as they look straight up into the lens. The person stays exactly as they appear in the photo.

Pictures that work best

  • Patterned ground such as tiles or cobbles makes the rotation easy to see.
  • Leave headroom in the photo so the model can rise above the person.
  • A subject looking toward the camera helps the ending, where they look up into the lens.
  • If the spin feels dizzy, shorten it in the prompt to a half turn.

Models this effect runs on

How it works

  1. 01

    Add one photo

Choose the photo to match the example: include both people for a shared gesture, and keep the face and any hands involved clearly visible. Upload your own photo or start with a Overhead Spiral sample.

  2. 02

    Check the price

Overhead Spiral defaults to a 5-second clip for $0.185. Swap the model or change the length and resolution before you run — the price on the button updates to match, and that's the whole cost of the clip.

  3. 03

    Generate

Your Overhead Spiral clip renders in the background, lands in History and is never published.

Do the move yourself

Overhead Spiral keeps one version of this shot. To give Overhead Spiral your own motion or ending, write it yourself in Image to Video, starting from the prompt above.

What it does to your photo

The camera rises straight up above the person, then spirals back down toward them. It rotates a full turn as it descends, so the ground and everything around the person spin like a kaleidoscope. It ends close above their face while they look straight up into the lens. The rise sets the scale and the spiral delivers the motion, so the clip feels like a single swooping crane move.

In our test runs on MiniMax H3, a woman in a long-sleeved red dress lying on a yellow and blue geometric tile floor was filmed from above as the camera rose, spun a full turn so the tiles whirled like a kaleidoscope around second two, and spiralled down to end close above her face as she looked into the lens. In a second run, a white-haired older man in round black glasses and a mustard corduroy three-piece suit lying spread-eagled on a black and white marble checkerboard floor was filmed from above as the camera rose, spun a full turn so the checkerboard whirled around second three, and spiralled down to end close above his face as he looked into the lens.

Works best on a standing full-body or waist-up photo with some ground texture around the person, such as paving, grass or tiles, because the spinning floor is a big part of the look. The top-down view is invented by the model, so it needs to guess what the surroundings look like from above. Subjects in tight interiors or against a flat wall give the spiral less to turn. The effect leaves the person exactly as they are in your photo and only adds the camera move.

It runs on MiniMax H3 for five seconds by default, and H3 itself goes up to 15 seconds and 2K if you want more. Studio also lets you move the same prompt to another model before you generate, such as Seedance 2.0 or Wan 3.0, and the price on the Generate button updates with every change. Our samples were all made on MiniMax H3, so other models will read the prompt in their own way.

Good for dramatic reveals and music-led edits where a spinning overhead view adds energy. It also works as a transition into a close-up clip.

Change "rotating a full turn" to "rotating two full turns" for a faster spin, or change "close above their face" to "close above their shoulders" for a wider ending.
