What this effect sends

This is the full prompt, word for word. Copy it, or open it in the generator and change anything you like.

Within the first second the first flakes start falling through the light. The snowfall thickens fast: by the third second it is a heavy, dense snowstorm, big flakes swirling past the lens and glowing where they catch the light. Snow visibly piles up on the hair and shoulders. The final frames hold on the person in a thick white flurry, flakes on their lashes, looking up into the snow and then back into the lens with a smile. The person stays exactly as they appear in the photo.

Pictures that work best

  • Pick a photo with a darker background so the white flakes stand out.
  • A visible light source, like a lamp or window, makes the flakes glow.
  • Face the camera or look slightly upward in the original for a natural finish.
  • For a calmer scene, soften the snowstorm wording in the prompt.

Models this effect runs on

The same prompt on different models. Pick by look and by price.

How it works

  1. 01

    Add one photo

Choose the photo to match the example: include both people for a shared gesture, and keep the face and any hands involved clearly visible. Upload your own photo or start with a Snowfall sample.

  2. 02

    Check the price

Snowfall defaults to a 5-second clip for $0.185. Swap the model or change the length and resolution before you run — the price on the button updates to match, and that's the whole cost of the clip.

  3. 03

    Generate

Your Snowfall clip renders in the background, lands in History and is never published.

Do the move yourself

Snowfall keeps one version of this shot. To give Snowfall your own motion or ending, write it yourself in Image to Video, starting from the prompt above.

What it does to your photo

Within the first second the first flakes start falling through the light. The snowfall thickens fast: by the third second it is a heavy, dense snowstorm, big flakes swirling past the lens and glowing where they catch the light. Snow visibly piles up on the hair and shoulders. The final frames hold on the person in a thick white flurry, flakes on their lashes, looking up into the snow and then back into the lens with a smile. The person stays exactly as they appear in your photo throughout.

In our test runs on MiniMax H3, a woman with short bleached-blonde curls in a burgundy wool coat on a lamp-lit cobblestone street at night watched the first flakes fall within the first second; by second three it was a dense, swirling snowstorm, snow piling on her hair and shoulders as she looked up into it, and she ended smiling back into the lens. In a second run, a dark-haired woman in a black coat and grey scarf on a cobblestone shopping street at dusk saw the first flakes fall by second two; by second three a heavy snowfall was swirling past the lens as she tipped her face up into it, and she ended with snow on her hair and shoulders, smiling into the lens.

Outdoor and winter-style photos work best, but any portrait with a visible light source can take the glowing flakes. Dark backgrounds show the snow most clearly. Light, bright backgrounds hide flakes. Wintry or cool-toned scenes feel the most natural. The effect leaves the person exactly as they are in your photo and only adds the motion, light and atmosphere.

It runs on MiniMax H3 for five seconds by default, and H3 itself goes up to 15 seconds and 2K if you want more. Studio also lets you move the same prompt to another model before you generate, such as Seedance 2.0 or Wan 3.0, and the price on the Generate button updates with every change. Our samples were all made on MiniMax H3, so other models will read the prompt in their own way.

Good for holiday posts, winter portraits, and calm atmosphere clips.

Open the prompt in the generator and change "a heavy, dense snowstorm" to "a light, gentle snowfall" for a quieter version, or "flakes on their lashes" to "flakes in their hair" for a different detail.
