google/gemini-4-argon/chat

Gemini 4 Argon API brings Google’s reasoning model to software investigations and multi-step knowledge work, with text, images and audio in one chat. Its 1,048,576-token context is shared by input, thinking and output.

Quickstart

Examples use the selected endpoint’s public parameter definitions. Replace the API key and example media, then send the request from your server.

API authentication

Keep the API key in the server environment variable SPICY_API_KEY. Use Bearer authentication and Content-Type: application/json for JSON requests.

Authorization: Bearer $SPICY_API_KEY
curl --fail-with-body -sN https://api.spicyapi.ai/v1/chat/completions \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $SPICY_API_KEY" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -H "Idempotency-Key: $(uuidgen)" \
  -d '{
  "model": "google/gemini-4-argon/chat",
  "messages": [
    {
      "role": "user",
      "content": "Summarise the following release notes into three bullet points."
    }
  ],
  "stream": true
}' \
  | jq --unbuffered -Rrj 'select(startswith("data: ")) | .[6:] | select(. != "[DONE]") | fromjson | if .error then "\n[error] \(.error.message)\n" else (.choices[0].delta.content? // empty) end'

Generated from this model’s input schema — the same one the API validates every request against.

Keep one Idempotency-Key for each logical request. After a network interruption, do not automatically resend with a new key; retain request_id to investigate the accepted request. Idempotency does not replay an earlier chat stream.

Input parameters

Place the model parameters directly in the JSON request body alongside model. This endpoint does not use an input wrapper.

messagesarray<object>Required

Send Argon the source passages, screenshots and conversation in messages, retaining tool_call_id for returned function results; audio must be inline and fit the combined 14 MB media limit.

Default
Not specified
Constraints
minItems:1
maxItems:256
response_formatobjectOptional

Use response_format for an Argon evidence table encoded as JSON, then check the fields and types in your application before consuming the result.

Default
Not specified
tool_choicestring | objectOptional

For Argon’s next step, tool_choice may be auto, none, required or a named function; carry its returned call ID into the matching result message.

Default
Not specified
parallel_tool_callsbooleanOptional

parallel_tool_calls lets Argon propose independent checks together rather than one at a time; it starts enabled and your application remains responsible for execution.

Default
true
toolsarray<object>Optional

Define up to 128 functions for Argon to request during a code or document investigation; your application checks the proposed arguments, runs the operation and returns the result with its tool_call_id.

Default
Not specified
Constraints
maxItems:128
top_pnumberOptional

Argon’s top_p spans 0.01–1; adjust this nucleus threshold or temperature in a controlled comparison instead of changing both together.

Default
Not specified
Constraints
minimum:0.01
maximum:1
temperaturenumberOptional

Argon’s temperature spans 0–2; keep the default for an initial evidence review and change sampling only when you need a different response style.

Default
Not specified
Constraints
minimum:0
maximum:2
stopstring | arrayOptional

Argon accepts one stop marker or up to four markers, and ends the answer before the first matched marker rather than returning that marker as content.

Default
Not specified
Constraints
minLength:1
minItems:1
maxItems:4
reasoning_effortstringOptional

Argon offers reasoning_effort low, medium and high, starting at medium; increase the output allowance when deeper reasoning needs more tokens, and note that thinking cannot be switched off here.

Default
"medium"
Allowed values
"low""medium""high"
max_tokensintegerOptional

On Argon’s synchronous endpoint, max_tokens defaults to 4,096 and stops at 65,536, including thinking; the separate long-decode mode is unavailable here, so leave space for the answer within the shared context.

Default
4096
Constraints
minimum:1
maximum:65536

Read the result

With stream set to false, the request returns the completed chat response directly. Read choices[].message; no task polling is needed. Set stream to true when your client supports Server-Sent Events.

The response example is illustrative. usage reports token counts; token counts and charges depend on your actual request.
