Quickstart

Examples use the selected endpoint’s public parameter definitions. Replace the API key and example media, then send the request from your server.

API authentication

Keep the API key in the server environment variable SPICY_API_KEY. Use Bearer authentication and Content-Type: application/json for JSON requests.

Authorization: Bearer $SPICY_API_KEY
curl --fail-with-body -sN https://api.spicyapi.ai/v1/chat/completions \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $SPICY_API_KEY" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -H "Idempotency-Key: $(uuidgen)" \
  -d '{
  "model": "xiaomi/mimo-v2.6-flash/chat",
  "messages": [
    {
      "role": "user",
      "content": "Summarise the following release notes into three bullet points."
    }
  ],
  "stream": true
}' \
  | jq --unbuffered -Rrj 'select(startswith("data: ")) | .[6:] | select(. != "[DONE]") | fromjson | if .error then "\n[error] \(.error.message)\n" else (.choices[0].delta.content? // empty) end'

Generated from this model’s input schema — the same one the API validates every request against.

Keep one Idempotency-Key for each logical request. After a network interruption, do not automatically resend with a new key; retain request_id to investigate the accepted request. Idempotency does not replay an earlier chat stream.

Input parameters

Place the model parameters directly in the JSON request body alongside model. This endpoint does not use an input wrapper.

messagesarray<object>Required

For a Flash digest, keep the agenda and recording references in messages; send video and audio inline within the combined 14 MB allowance, and retain tool_call_id for tool replies.

Default
Not specified
Constraints
minItems:1
maxItems:256
response_formatobjectOptional

Ask Flash for text or structured JSON through response_format, then verify extracted fields in your own validator.

Default
Not specified
tool_choicestring | objectOptional

For Flash office assistants, prefer tool_choice=auto: Xiaomi documents other choices as behaving like auto, so required or a named function does not guarantee a call.

Default
Not specified
parallel_tool_callsbooleanOptional

Enable parallel proposals in Flash when separate lookups do not depend on one another; the application still performs those lookups.

Default
true
toolsarray<object>Optional

Describe up to 128 functions Flash can propose for office work; your code checks arguments before updating a calendar or ticket.

Default
Not specified
Constraints
maxItems:128
top_pnumberOptional

For Flash without reasoning, top_p ranges from 0.01 to 1; change it separately from temperature when testing digest consistency.

Default
Not specified
Constraints
minimum:0.01
maximum:1
temperaturenumberOptional

Flash allows temperature from 0 to 1.5 only at reasoning_effort=none; with reasoning active, sampling uses 1.0 and top_p 0.95.

Default
Not specified
Constraints
minimum:0
maximum:1.5
stopstring | arrayOptional

For Flash extraction, stop accepts one sequence or up to four; choose a delimiter that cannot truncate a legitimate field, as the matched delimiter is omitted.

Default
Not specified
Constraints
minLength:1
minItems:1
maxItems:4
reasoning_effortstringOptional

Flash offers none, minimal, low, medium and high, with high selected initially; test none on extraction before increasing effort for ambiguous notes.

Default
"high"
Allowed values
"none""minimal""low""medium""high"
max_tokensintegerOptional

Flash starts with max_tokens at 4,096 and permits up to 131,072; reasoning uses that same allowance, so check finish_reason on long digests.

Default
4096
Constraints
minimum:1
maximum:131072

Read the result

With stream set to false, the request returns the completed chat response directly. Read choices[].message; no task polling is needed. Set stream to true when your client supports Server-Sent Events.

The response example is illustrative. usage reports token counts; token counts and charges depend on your actual request.
