Continue a clip with MiniMax H3 Max: the last frame of your video opens a new 5 to 15 second segment, and you get back one file with the original and the continuation joined, at 480p or 768p.

Filtering differs by endpoint: Image to video — Softened, Video extension — Softened, Text to video — Filtered.

    Durationaffects price
Length of the new segment: whole seconds, 5 to 15; defaults to 8. Your source is added on top and is not billed. no lower than 5 · no higher than 15
    affects price
Resolution of the new segment: 480p or 768p, default 768p. Both are native renders. The resolution only sets how sharp the new segment is generated, so match your source’s resolution: a lower setting makes the new part look softer than the original. 480p costs less per second. It sets the price.
    Prompt expansionaffects price
Off by default, so the prompt is used as written. Switch it on and MiniMax first expands your prompt into a fuller description of the shot, sound and music, then renders from that. Requests with it on add a flat prompt-expansion fee per request on top of the per-second price; the estimate shown before you submit already reflects it.
Safety checkerOff

SpicyAPI does not run a safety checker on this model. Your prompt and media go to the model as written, and the model itself decides what comes back.

Before you spend

text-to-video

A paragraph of prose leaves wardrobe, body and framing to the model, so consecutive runs drift even when the wording does not change. The default frame is 1:1, not 16:9 - set aspect_ratio explicitly or a widescreen brief comes back square.

image-to-video

The opening frame is followed closely and is the reliable path to a literal result. A closing frame constrains the ending only; across a 15-second clip the middle can wander, and two frames that disagree on light or wardrobe produce a visible negotiation. last_image_url cannot be sent on its own.

all

Clips run 5 to 15 seconds at 480p or 768p; there is no 720p, 1080p or 4K. All endpoints are asynchronous: create a task, then poll or take the callback. You own the rights to any frame you upload and you are responsible for how the output is used.

What it does

Fast variant

Built for turning a brief around quickly

MiniMax positions H3 Max as the fast-generation variant of H3, optimised for speed. On this platform it runs at 480p or 768p with sound in the same pass, which suits a loop of write, render, adjust. Clips start at five seconds, so the shortest request is already a usable beat rather than a test frame.

Two frames

Say where the shot starts and where it lands

Image-to-video takes an opening frame and, optionally, a closing one. Both ends are then fixed and only the motion between them is generated - useful when a clip has to cut cleanly into an edit. The two frames must stay continuous in subject, wardrobe and light, or the middle of the clip visibly negotiates between them.

Frame shape

Set the frame before you judge a take

Text-to-video defaults to 1:1, so a widescreen brief comes back square unless aspect_ratio says otherwise - set it to 21:9, 16:9, 4:3, 3:4 or 9:16 before comparing takes. Image-to-video has no aspect_ratio field: the opening frame decides the shape, so crop the still before you send it.

Where it fits

  • Hero shots from an approved frame

Once a scene is locked, generate the opening frame first and send it to image-to-video: the wardrobe, body and face you designed come through instead of being re-invented on every run.

  • Anamorphic campaign film

21:9 with a slow walk toward camera, hard rim light and a wind machine: the fashion-film grammar the tier is good at. One 15-second request covers a full approach-and-stop beat, so there is no seam to hide in the edit.

  • Vertical cutdowns from the same brief

The same written shot re-runs at 9:16 for feeds and 1:1 for square placements. Keep the prompt and duration unchanged and change only the aspect ratio to see how the reframing plays before you commit to a full set of deliverables.

  • Clips that must cut into an edit

When a shot has to start on one board and end on another, supply both as image_url and last_image_url. The generated motion lands on the closing composition, so the outgoing frame matches the next shot in the timeline.

How to call the MiniMax H3 Max API

  1. Choose text or first frame

A written idea goes to text-to-video; an approved still goes to image-to-video, which follows it far more literally. The two endpoints do not share a field set - image-to-video has no aspect_ratio, because the opening frame decides the shape.

  2. Write the shot, then set the frame

Describe subject, movement, light and sound in the order they happen, and set aspect_ratio yourself because the default is 1:1. A working brief looks like this: "High-fashion campaign film. An adult model in a liquid-silver slip gown walks slowly toward camera down a black marble corridor, the fabric catching hard rim light and rippling with each step, hair moving in a wind machine, she stops and looks straight down the lens. Anamorphic 2.39:1, deep blacks, glossy specular highlights, low synth drone."

  3. Iterate one change at a time

Change one thing per run, so each result reflects only what you edited, and write the details you care about into the prompt instead of leaving gaps for the model to fill. Sound is generated with the picture, so any note about score or room tone belongs in the same prompt.

The short version

MiniMax H3 Max is the variant MiniMax describes as the fast-generation version of H3, published here as text-to-video, image-to-video (with optional first and last frame control) and video-extend endpoints. Clips run 5 to 15 whole seconds at 480p or 768p across six aspect ratios - 21:9, 16:9, 4:3, 1:1, 3:4 and 9:16 - with ambience, foley and music generated in the same pass as the picture. Prompt expansion is off by default, so the prompt is rendered as written; switch enable_prompt_expansion on to have a short brief expanded first, billed at a higher rate. Tasks are asynchronous and billed per second of output at the resolution you pick.
