MiniMax H3 Lite and H3 HighSpeed both cover short video generation with native audio. The decision is whether HighSpeed's higher rate buys something the available evidence actually demonstrates.

Choose H3 Lite when price or a 480p draft is the deciding factor. Lite also offers 768p at $0.04 per second on SpicyAPI; HighSpeed is 768p-only at $0.072 per second. Our four-second text-to-video tests finished in about 22–26 seconds across the tested clips. They do not establish a HighSpeed speed advantage or a visual-quality winner.

Both rendered the strongest rung of our NSFW test ladder (L3) fully on text, image and reference to video, with no refusal: Lite at 480p and HighSpeed at 768p. The H3 Lite NSFW test report gives the content-level findings and their limits.

H3 Lite vs HighSpeed: price and resolution

These are SpicyAPI prices in USD per output second. The four-second column is a simple output-only budget calculation, before reference-input charges.

ModelOutput resolutionPrice per secondFour-second output budget
H3 Lite480p$0.025$0.10
H3 Lite768p$0.04$0.16
H3 HighSpeed768p only$0.072$0.288

At the same listed 768p resolution, HighSpeed costs 80% more per output second than Lite. That is a price comparison, not a claim that the outputs have equal quality. The tested Lite clips were at 480p, so they cannot settle a 768p quality comparison.

The H3 Lite model page and H3 HighSpeed model page are the respective product entries.

What do reference inputs add to the price?

Both tiers bill input video seconds at the selected output rate. Each includes the first five reference images free. Additional reference images cost $0.02 each on Lite or $0.036 each on HighSpeed; audio references are free.

For example, a budget for four output seconds at 768p plus five reference-video seconds is $0.36 on Lite or $0.648 on HighSpeed. This calculation is nine billed video seconds at the respective rate, with no extra image charges. It illustrates input billing; it is not a receipt from our text-to-video test.

Is H3 HighSpeed faster than H3 Lite?

The name alone does not answer that question. Our October 27, 2026 test used four-second text-to-video requests, with Lite at 480p and HighSpeed at 768p. Each clip completed in about 22–26 seconds of generation time. We do not have a matched-resolution speed benchmark showing how much faster either model is.

Tested output configurationObserved file dimensions
Lite, 480p, 16:9864 × 480
Lite, 480p, 9:16480 × 864
HighSpeed, 768p, 16:91344 × 768

A HighSpeed request for four seconds returned a 3.75-second file. That detail matters if an edit needs an exact clip length; the requested duration did not match the returned file duration in that case. It does not establish a different billing rule.

For budget-sensitive drafts, Lite's lower rate is a concrete reason to choose it. Paying more for HighSpeed specifically to reduce waiting time is not justified by this small test alone.

What do the two tiers share?

Both support text-to-video, image-to-video with a first frame and optional last frame, and reference-to-video. Their stated duration range is four to 15 seconds, with native audio in the output and prompts up to 7,000 characters.

Reference-to-video accepts up to nine images, up to three videos totalling 15 seconds, and up to three audio clips. Audio cannot be the only reference. Both offer 21:9, 16:9, 4:3, 1:1, 3:4 and 9:16 aspect ratios.

Shared input limits do not guarantee equal reference fidelity. In our content tests both tiers rendered the strongest rung (L3) on all three modes, so content level is not the deciding difference. The clear specification difference is resolution: Lite offers 480p and 768p, while HighSpeed offers 768p only.

How do Lite and HighSpeed relate to H3, H3 Max and H3 X Turbo?

Lite is MiniMax's lowest-priced official H3 tier. In the official H3 pricing table, H3 includes 768p and 2K output, while H3 Max lists 480p and 768p. Lite and HighSpeed are separate choices within that family; a shared H3 name does not transfer one tier's test results to another.

The existing MiniMax H3 and H3 Max pages cover those products. The H3 Max test report remains relevant to Max's own behavior; Lite's full L3 result does not overturn it.

H3 X Turbo is another named option in the family, separate from Lite and HighSpeed. No H3 X Turbo price or matched test is included in the evidence for this comparison, so we cannot place it above or below them for speed, cost or NSFW behavior. Also distinguish those commercial tier names from the acceleration workflows discussed in H3 Turbo vs base.

For the wider naming map, see the H3 versions comparison. Lite can be considered alongside Wan 3.0, H3 Max Turbo and Seedance 2.0 Mini Fast for fast NSFW draft work, but this test supplies no cross-model quality or speed ranking for that group.

Which should you pick?

Lite is the supported choice when the aim is to lower the output budget: it offers the lower 768p rate and the additional 480p option. Its 480p text-to-video tests also rendered L2 and L3 fully.

HighSpeed offers a fully rendered L3 observation at 768p, which this Lite test does not provide at that resolution. That is a difference in test coverage, not proof that Lite fails at 768p or that HighSpeed produces better results. Choose HighSpeed if that observed 768p result is worth its higher rate for your evaluation; the available timing data gives no measured reason to promise faster delivery.
