1k (default), 2k or 4k. 1k and 2k cost the same; 4k costs more and renders 4096 pixels on the long side.
Official fallback
On by default. Each request runs on the economy route first. If that route cannot complete it, for example because it refuses a Mild-level prompt, the request runs again on the official route and is billed at the official price instead of the economy price. Turn it off to pay only the economy price; the request may then be refused or fail.
Safety checkerOff

SpicyAPI does not run a safety checker on this model. Your prompt and media go to the model as written, and the model itself decides what comes back.

What you can make with Nano Banana Pro

  • A man in an unbuttoned black silk shirt sitting on the edge of an unmade bed in morning window light, forearms on his knees

    Portraits

    Lens and light, followed literally

A man in an unbuttoned black silk shirt on the edge of an unmade bed in morning light. The prompt names an 85mm lens at f/1.4 and window light from the right, and the render follows both.

    Text to image, 2k, 4:5.

  • A magazine cover titled NOCTURNE: a woman in a red satin dress by a piano in a jazz lounge, with an issue line and a cover line in white type

    Text in edits

A magazine cover over a photograph

The jazz-lounge photograph turned into a cover with the masthead NOCTURNE, an issue line and a cover line, all spelled as quoted, while the woman and the piano stayed as they were.

    Edit, one source, 4:5.

  • A woman in a red off-shoulder satin dress leaning on a grand piano lined with lit pillar candles in a dark jazz lounge

    Relighting

One light source changed, the scene kept

The same lounge relit by a row of pillar candles on the piano, the stage lights switched off and her dress catching the warm light.

    Edit, one source, 4:5.

Content test

Is Nano Banana Pro uncensored? What we tested

We ran each level on our live setup and checked every clip frame by frame. A pass means the content was actually on screen, not just that the request went through.

How each mode behaves

All modes
Google's content policy applies to every prompt and result. In our tests text to image rendered a Mild-level portrait and a couple scene but filtered out anything stronger, and editing refused the Mild-level wardrobe swap. Refused requests are not charged. The economy route adds a stricter check of its own: in our tests it refused a Mild-level prompt that the official route renders, while our couple example passed. With Official fallback on, such a request runs again on the official route at the official price; with it off, the request is refused and not charged.
All modes
It reasons before drawing, so it is slower than Nano Banana 2: most of our text-to-image requests took 20 to 50 seconds. Edits finished in under a minute on the economy route and took up to about three minutes on the official route. Edits come back as JPEG, text to image as PNG.

Use cases

What to build with the Nano Banana Pro API

  • Covers, posters and signage

Magazine covers, event posters and packaging where several lines of type share the frame with a photograph.

  • Lens-aware portraits

Portraits that follow a named lens, aperture and light direction, for editorial and brand photography mock-ups.

  • Relighting and compositing

Change the light in a finished photo or add text over it, keeping the people and the setting as they were.

Prompts

Nano Banana Pro prompt examples you can copy

Paste one into the playground as it is, then change one thing at a time.

  • Text to image

    Lens and light, followed literally

Portrait of a man in an unbuttoned black silk shirt sitting on the edge of an unmade bed in morning light, forearms on his knees, looking into the lens. Shot on an 85mm lens at f/1.4, shallow depth of field, warm window light from the right, muted film colour grade.

Why it works. A portrait at 4:5 and 2k with the lens, aperture and light direction written out; the shallow focus and window light follow the prompt.

  • Image editing

A magazine cover over a photograph

Turn this photograph into a magazine cover. Add the masthead "NOCTURNE" across the top in a wide high-contrast serif, the line "ISSUE 12 · AUTUMN" small under it, and one cover line at the bottom left: "THE LAST SET STARTS AT MIDNIGHT". Keep the woman, the piano and the light exactly as they are.

Why it works. One source turned into a cover: the masthead, the issue line and the cover line are quoted with positions, and the photograph is protected.

This mode starts from your own image: add it in the playground before you run.

  • Image editing

One light source changed, the scene kept

Relight the scene in image 1 with candlelight only: switch off the stage lights and place a row of lit pillar candles along the top of the piano, warm flickering light on her face and the satin, the rest of the lounge falling into deep shadow. Keep her, her dress and her pose unchanged.

Why it works. One source. The only change is the light: stage lights off, candles on the piano. The woman, her dress and her pose are listed as fixed.

This mode starts from your own image: add it in the playground before you run.

Get started

How to use the Nano Banana Pro API in three steps

  1. Step 1

    Go straight to 2k

1k and 2k cost the same with this model, so there is little reason to draft at 1k unless you need smaller files.

  2. Step 2

    Write the layout, not keywords

Say where each element sits and quote every piece of text. The model plans the frame before rendering, so precise layout instructions pay off.

  3. Step 3

    Give each reference a role

In edits, say what each source contributes and what must stay unchanged, as you would brief a retoucher.

Parameter reference and code samples are in the API and Readme tabs at the top of this page.
