One to three publicly fetchable URLs for images you hold the rights to. The order is meaningful: your prompt calls them first, second and third, and roles are never inferred. at least 1 items · at most 3 items
Applies to the result, not to the sources, so a reference of a different shape comes back reshaped. Match it deliberately when the original framing has to survive.
affects price
1k or 2k, default 2k. It is the tier choice that changes the price; each reference image in image_urls also adds to the quote. It sets the delivered tier and cannot recover detail the source never had.

Fixed at 1: one edited image per request. Sending the same edit two or three times in parallel without a seed tells you quickly whether an instruction was ambiguous or a single draw was unlucky. no lower than 1 · no higher than 1
Prompt expansion
On by default on this family. It fills out thin briefs and rewrites detailed ones, so turn it off once your prompt is a precise shot description.
0/2000
Up to 2,000 characters of exclusions. Most useful here against artefacts an edit invites: garment seams, leftover lettering, duplicated jewellery. at most 2000 characters

Editing that reads and prices every reference you send

Qwen Image 3.0 Pro's edit API merges one to three reference images under a single instruction of up to 5,000 characters. Every reference in the call is billed, not only the ones past the first, and the output frame comes from the aspect_ratio you set, which falls back to 1:1 when the field is absent.

Open the playground
Editing that reads and prices every reference you send
Reference images
1 to 3 per call in image_urls, read in the order the prompt names them
Prompt length
Up to 5,000 characters for the edit instruction
Aspect ratio
Eight to choose from, including 21:9, applied to the output, 1:1 when absent
Resolution
1k or 2k tier, 2k by default
Billing shape
The output image plus every reference in the call, quoted before you submit
Content policy
Uncensored on both endpoints, with no maturity flag to set
Reference pricing
The first reference is not free hereThe quote for an edit is the output image plus every URL in image_urls, including the first one. A three-reference merge and a single-reference retype are priced differently because of it, and the estimate shown before you submit already counts them, so a test call with three sources is not the request you thought you were sending.
Frame control
Set the output frame yourselfaspect_ratio applies to the result, and it falls back to 1:1. Leave the field out on a widescreen source and the edit returns a square. Set the ratio on any request where the edited output has to keep the shape it arrived in, or has to leave it.
Reproducibility
A seed makes two edits comparableKeep seed and every other input identical when you want to compare two wordings of the same edit. Repeat runs stay close, and an exactly identical result is not promised, so record the seed together with the wording that produced the frame you kept.

What the Qwen Image 3.0 Pro edit API is built for

Up to three references, roles set by the prompt

Up to three references, roles set by the prompt

image_urls takes one to three URLs, and the model reads them in the order your instruction refers to them. With more than one reference, say what each contributes: the face from the first, the room from the second, the fabric from the third. Nothing is inferred from the order the files were uploaded.

Two required fields, defaults for the rest

Two required fields, defaults for the rest

Only prompt and image_urls are required. Everything else carries a default: aspect_ratio at 1:1, resolution at 2k, enable_prompt_expansion on, num_outputs at 1. A minimal edit request is two fields long, which also means four defaults apply on every call where you do not think about them.

  • Output frame is independent of the source frame

No rule ties the result's aspect ratio to the shape of any reference image. The field is applied to the output, so a square reference can come back as a 21:9 band and a 16:9 source can come back square, depending only on what aspect_ratio says on that particular request.

  • Same prompt budget as this family's text-to-image endpoint

The 5,000-character prompt and the 2,000-character negative_prompt carry over unchanged from the text-to-image endpoint, so an edit instruction can run as long as a generation brief. That matters here, because an edit has to name both the change and everything that must survive it.

  • One edited image per call

num_outputs exists in the schema on this endpoint with a minimum and a maximum of 1, so one call returns one edited image. When you want a few attempts at the same change, send the instruction as parallel calls and compare the returned images side by side.

Who Qwen Image 3.0 Pro edit is for

  • Retype a string without redrawing the frame

    Text and signage edits

Retype a string without redrawing the frame

Quote the old wording and the new wording in the same instruction and name what must stay identical: the lighting, the surface, the rest of the composition. A one-reference edit is also the least expensive shape of request on this endpoint, since the quote counts every reference you attach.

  • Merge a subject with a separate background or material

    Composited references

Merge a subject with a separate background or material

Send a subject reference and a setting reference together and state in the instruction which one supplies which element. A third slot is room for a style or a lighting source, so a three-part composite stays one call instead of becoming a chain of two edits.

  • Change fabric, garment or finish under a stated instruction

    Wardrobe and material edits

Change fabric, garment or finish under a stated instruction

Name the exact swap, whether it is a garment, a surface finish or a lighting condition, and describe what should move with it and what should not. Anything the instruction leaves unmentioned is open to being redrawn on this endpoint, including the parts you were happy with.

  • Feed a near-miss result back in as a reference

    Iterative correction

Feed a near-miss result back in as a reference

A previous output can be one of the three references on the next call, paired with a second image that shows the one thing to correct. The rest of the frame is then described as unchanged, which is cheaper to steer than regenerating the whole brief from scratch.

How to call the Qwen Image 3.0 Pro edit API

  1. Work out the cast list first

With more than one image in image_urls, settle what each one contributes before a word of the instruction is written: subject, background, material. The instruction then describes a plan you already made, instead of being rewritten halfway through.

  2. Name every reference's role in the instruction

State which numbered image supplies which element in plain language. The model reads roles from the text, not from the order the files happened to be uploaded, so an unnamed third reference is an invitation to blend.

  3. State what changes and what stays identical

An instruction that only names the change leaves the rest of the frame open. Write down what has to survive it: pose, lighting, background, the exact wording of any text you are not asking to move.

  4. Set aspect_ratio unless a square output is what you want

The result does not inherit the source image's shape, and the field falls back to 1:1. Set it on every request where the edited output has a frame to match, or a frame to deliberately break.

  5. Count the references against the quote on screen

Every image in image_urls adds to the price, including the first one. Confirm the estimate on this page before sending a three-reference merge you only meant to try with a single source.

Qwen Image 3.0 Pro edit worked examples

  • A single-reference sign retype

Quoting the old and new strings together, with everything else named as protected, keeps a text edit from disturbing the rest of the frame.

Keep the storefront, awning stripes and evening lighting unchanged; change only the neon sign text from 'OPEN LATE' to 'OPEN 24HRS' in the same script and color
  • A two-reference subject and setting merge

Assigning a role to each reference keeps a merge from turning into an unresolved blend of both images.

Take the model and pose from image 1 and place her in the rooftop bar setting shown in image 2, matching image 2's evening lighting and color temperature; keep the outfit from image 1 unchanged
  • A three-reference wardrobe and material swap

Three sources need three stated roles; the instruction, not the upload order, is what assigns them.

Keep the model, pose and framing from image 1; replace the jacket with the tailored wool coat shown in image 2; match the warm evening light from image 3; leave the background and the shadow direction from image 1 unchanged

Qwen Image 3.0 Pro edit API questions

Writing edit instructions with multiple references

State the change first, then everything that must stay identical, because anything the instruction leaves unmentioned is open to being redrawn. With two or three references, give each one a role by number in the prompt text. Set aspect_ratio on the way out, since the result does not inherit the source shape, and remember that the quote counts every reference you attach.
