Up to ten images you are authorised to use, and the field is optional. They steer style — palette, grain, material, light. At the default reference_strength of 1 they can also carry over composition motifs; lower it when only the look should transfer, and composition, pose and framing will come from the prompt. All ten count equally, so two or three angles of one look carry more than a stack of near-identical frames. at most 10 items
Square by default, running from 9:16 portrait to 2.35:1 anamorphic — eight shapes in all. Generate at the shape you will publish; cropping afterwards throws away composition you already paid for.
Safety checkerOff

SpicyAPI does not run a safety checker on this model. Your prompt and media go to the model as written, and the model itself decides what comes back.

The fast, low-cost tier of the Krea 2 line

Krea 2 Medium Turbo is the quick tier of the Krea 2 image line: one prompt of up to 5,000 characters goes in, one image comes back, in any of eight aspect ratios from 1:1 to the 2.35:1 anamorphic strip. Up to ten optional reference images steer palette, grain and material. There is no seed field, so every call draws a fresh result.

What the Krea 2 Medium Turbo API does well

Eight aspect ratios behind one field

Eight aspect ratios behind one field

1:1, 4:3, 3:2, 16:9, 2.35:1, 4:5, 2:3 and 9:16 are the values aspect_ratio accepts, and that single enum is the whole geometry control: no width or height input exists here, and no extra parameter gates the wider shapes. An omitted field falls back to 1:1, which is worth overriding whenever the placement is a feed portrait or a wide banner.

Up to ten style references, priced as one call

Up to ten style references, priced as one call

The billing formula adds a single flat charge whenever reference_image_urls is set, not one charge per reference image, so attaching one reference or ten costs the same. Two or three frames pointed at one consistent look tend to carry more usable signal than a stack of near-duplicates competing for the same influence.

  • Where this tier sits between its siblings

Krea 2 Large publishes the identical three fields, so a request written here submits there with no edits when a direction is ready for a slower pass. Krea 2 Medium is the tier that differs: five aspect ratios including a 3:4 portrait shape, an output_format switch between png and jpeg, and no reference-image input at all.

  • Async by default

Every call returns a task to poll instead of holding a connection open until the image is finished. That request shape suits running several prompt variants side by side during an exploration pass, since each one submits and completes on its own without queuing behind the last.

  • Two optional fields, no dials to tune

Krea's own image tool carries a creativity mode and a strength slider on each style reference; this API endpoint publishes neither. Direction comes from the prompt text and the optional reference URLs, which keeps a batch script's request body down to three keys and keeps two runs comparable on what you actually changed.

Who Krea 2 Medium Turbo is for

  • Run ten prompt variants before committing to one

    Concept exploration

Run ten prompt variants before committing to one

With no seed to pin a result and a lower per-image charge than the other two tiers of the line, this endpoint suits generating a wide spread of directions in one pass, then taking the single winner to Krea 2 Large for a slower render.

  • Pull a palette and material feel from references quickly

    Look development

Pull a palette and material feel from references quickly

Attach one to ten reference images to carry a specific look, its grain, light and colour, into new compositions without waiting on a slower render for each pass, and without the reference count changing what a call costs.

  • High-volume drafts where turnaround outweighs finish

    Product and content teams

High-volume drafts where turnaround outweighs finish

Social-scale output, early art direction passes and open-ended prompt experimentation benefit more from volume than from the extra finishing detail Krea describes on the slower tiers, especially when a batch of drafts is heading for a review round anyway.

  • Test wording cheaply before scaling it up

    Prompt engineering

Test wording cheaply before scaling it up

A prompt validated here submits to Krea 2 Large unchanged, since both tiers take the same three fields and the same eight ratios. Moving the same wording to Krea 2 Medium means dropping the reference URLs and picking one of its five shapes.

How to call the Krea 2 Medium Turbo API

  1. Write the prompt

Lead with the subject, then composition, light and material, in that order. No seed exists to fall back on here, so the wording carries more of the result than it would on a tier where a near miss can be re-steered against a fixed reference point.

  2. Pick the aspect ratio

aspect_ratio defaults to 1:1 and takes eight values. Set it to the shape the image will publish at: cropping a square down to a feed portrait afterwards discards composition the model already built for the frame you asked for.

  3. Attach references only if they add something

reference_image_urls takes zero to ten image URLs and adds a single flat charge to the request regardless of how many are included. Skip the field entirely for a prompt-only draft with no style anchor to match.

  4. Submit and poll

The task runs asynchronously instead of blocking on a single request. Create it, poll for a terminal state, then fetch the finished image from platform storage once that state is reached.

  5. Save what you want to keep

Store the prompt and any reference set alongside a frame worth keeping, since resubmitting the identical request draws a fresh result and not a repeat of the image you already have.

  6. Move up the line when polish matters more than speed

Once a direction is settled, resubmit the same prompt, aspect_ratio and reference_image_urls against Krea 2 Large for a slower pass with more finishing detail. Nothing in the request body has to change between those two tiers.

Krea 2 Medium Turbo worked examples

  • An unposed interior frame with a single light source

Naming the light source, the palette and the film grain keeps a quiet, available-light scene from reading as a generic studio shot.

Available-light photograph seen through a half-open hotel room door, an adult woman sitting on the edge of a made bed wearing only an oversized cream knit sweater, bare legs crossed, absorbed in her phone, one warm bedside lamp, deep falling shadows, quiet and unposed, muted amber palette, 50mm, fine film grain.
  • A high-contrast monochrome action frame

Naming the film stock, the lighting direction and the exact motion keeps a dramatic night scene legible instead of muddy.

Black-and-white 35mm photograph, pushed grain, full-length. A tall adult fashion model stands in the middle of an empty city crosswalk in a torrential downpour at night, wearing a soaked black satin slip dress and heels, arms flung wide, head tipped back, laughing with her eyes shut as the rain runs off her. Car headlights flare behind her, wet asphalt mirrors the streetlights, elegant posture, high-contrast monochrome, dramatic backlight.
  • A single-source chiaroscuro study

Spelling out the one light source, and spending a full clause on banning invented lettering, keeps a painterly instruction from dragging a fake signature into the corner.

Chiaroscuro oil-painting light, a single candle flame as the only source, Dutch master palette of deep umber and near-black with one warm amber pool of light, heavy falloff, visible dust motes. An adult ballet dancer stands at a wooden barre in a bare rehearsal room, seen from behind and slightly above, wearing a sheer black tulle skirt and a thin camisole, one arm extended along the barre, head turned in profile, the muscles of her back catching the candlelight. Cracked plaster wall, dark wooden floor, painterly grain. Absolutely no text, no writing, no letters, no painted signature, no watermark, no logo anywhere in the frame.

Krea 2 Medium Turbo API questions

Front-load the prompt with subject, then composition, then light and material; with no seed to re-steer a near miss, a rerun with clearer wording usually beats nudging the same request. Reference images earn their place when they carry a palette, grain or material the text struggles to spell out, and they leave layout alone, so the frame itself still has to be described in full.
