bytedance/seedvr2-video/upscale

SeedVR2 Video restores and upscales one 3 to 60 second clip to 720p, 1080p, 2K or 4K, rebuilding texture lost to compression and blur. Length, framing and audio are kept; no prompt; billed per second by tier.

The clip to restore, 3 to 60 seconds long, as a direct link to an MP4 file or an upload. Compressed, blurry or low-resolution footage benefits most; clips outside the length range are rejected before any charge. at least 1 characters

Output tier: 720p, 1080p (the default), 2k or 4k, a pixel budget with the aspect ratio kept, so a 624×360 clip at 1080p returns 1896×1094. The tier sets the per-second rate: 720p costs half of 1080p, 2k 1.5 times and 4k twice.

Before you spend

Upscaling
  • Restoration re-creates fine detail rather than recovering it: in our lighthouse test a hand and a face were redrawn slightly differently from the blurry original. Check faces and text before publishing.
  • It costs several times more per second than a plain upscaler. For clips that are already clean, a simple resolution pass is the cheaper choice.
  • Clips must be 3 to 60 seconds long; longer footage has to be split. Processing takes roughly 10 to 25 seconds per second of 720p or 1080p video in our runs.

What it does

Two crops of the same frame from a heavily compressed 624×360 lighthouse clip: smeared and blocky on the left, rebuilt by SeedVR2 at 1080p on the right, with the cable-knit sweater, the brass lantern and the horizon back.

Rebuilds what compression removed

Knit, brass and horizon come back

On a 624×360 clip encoded at a very low bitrate, SeedVR2 restored a cable-knit sweater and a brass lantern that a plain upscaler only made sharper and blockier.

Nothing else changes

Same cut, same timing, same soundtrack

Two crops of the same frame of two cyclists riding toward a yellow tram: blocky on the left, restored by SeedVR2 at 720p on the right, with the jerseys and the tram sharp again.

A 4-second clip with AAC audio came back at 1280×720 and 24 fps, exactly 4.0 seconds long, with the original track passed through.

Where it fits

  • Rescue compressed or low-resolution clips

Old phone videos, re-uploaded social clips and heavily compressed exports come back with knit, foliage and fabric texture instead of blocks and smears.

  • Finish AI-generated video

Bring a 480p or 720p generation up to 1080p or 4K for delivery, with the soft, blocky look of a fast draft render cleaned up.

  • Archive and stock footage

Clean up short archival shots before editing them into a higher-resolution project, with timing and audio unchanged.

How to call the SeedVR2 Video API

  1. Trim the clip

Cut the footage to the 3 to 60 seconds you need; you pay per second of what you send.

  2. Pick the output tier

Choose 720p, 1080p, 2K or 4K by where the clip will be watched; 1080p is the default.

  3. Review the restored clip

Download the MP4 and check faces, hands and lettering, which the model may redraw slightly.

The short version

SeedVR2 Video restores and upscales a 3 to 60 second clip in one call: send video_url and pick resolution from 720p to 4K. Length, framing and audio stay as sent, the texture lost to compression is rebuilt, and the result is served from platform storage after an asynchronous poll.
