Reference to video

Reordering updates prompt references. Removing media also removes its references; review your prompt.

Required, and here it also does the casting. References are cited in the order you send them, so name which image is which character, what each clip contributes and what the audio is for. Briefs are not reviewed on our side; where Seedance's own layer refuses the wording, a first frame on image-to-video is the route that still gets there. at least 1 characters

Up to 9 images you are authorised to use, holding a character, a product, a style or a set. Two or three angles of the same subject carry more than a stack of near-identical frames. Every request needs at least one reference image or reference clip; audio on its own is refused. This endpoint has no first- or last-frame field: when the opening picture has to be exact, use image-to-video instead. Each side must be between 300 and 6000 pixels; a smaller plate is rejected by the input check before you are charged. at most 9 items

Up to 3 clips supplying motion, pacing or camera language. Each clip should run 2 to 15 seconds and all of them no more than 15 seconds together; keep every file under 50 MB and at 1080p or below, or the request is rejected. Up to 3 audio files, 2 to 15 seconds each and 15 seconds together, each under 15 MB, giving the shot a sonic anchor — delivery, tempo, a musical phrase — that motion and cut points align to. Audio cannot be the only reference: send at least one image or clip with it. It is an input, not the output track: whether the finished clip carries sound is still decided by `generate_audio`. at most 3 items
Output framing, adaptive by default: the clip takes its shape from the primary reference. When the references disagree or the placement is fixed, pick one of the six ratios from 21:9 down to 9:16 and say in the prompt how the subjects should sit inside it. No effect on what you are billed.
affects price
Output resolution: 480p, or 720p by default. It selects a rate tier and will not sharpen low-resolution references. Check that the references combine at a low tier, then raise it for the final take.
Durationaffects price
Length of the finished clip in whole seconds, 4 to 15, default 5; -1 lets the model choose, with the estimate assuming 15 seconds. Together with the seconds of your reference clips it is the billed quantity. The more references a shot has to reconcile, the less 4 seconds can show them all — but confirm the combination short before paying for 15. no lower than 4 · no higher than 15
Generate audioaffects price
Whether a native soundtrack is rendered in sync with the picture. On by default; switching it off does not lower the rate in this tier. Turn it off for silent loops and for material you will score in post.

SpicyAPI does not run a safety checker on this model. Your prompt and media go to the model as written, and the model itself decides what comes back.

Cast a shot from your own stills, clips and audio

The Seedance 2.0 Fast reference-to-video API composes a clip from material you supply: up to 9 reference images, 3 video clips and 3 audio tracks, with prompt required and at least one image or clip among the references. Output runs 4 to 15 seconds at 480p or 720p. Reference clip seconds are billed on top of the output length, and including any clip moves the request to a separate, lower per-second rate.

Inputs
Three reference arrays in a single callreference_image_urls, reference_video_urls and reference_audio_urls travel together, with 9, 3 and 3 as their ceilings. The schema states the rule as an anyOf: a request qualifies once an image array or a video array is present, so a call carrying audio alone is rejected before anything renders.
Billing
Reference clips are billed with the outputThe billed seconds are the output length plus the combined length of the reference clips, each clip counted as at least 2 seconds and rounded up, with the clips capped at 15 seconds together on top of the output. Including a reference video also moves the request onto a separate, lower per-second rate for its resolution, while a composition built from images alone, with or without audio references, stays on the standard rate.
Ceiling
720p at the top of this tierresolution accepts 480p and 720p on Seedance 2.0 Fast, where base Seedance 2.0 continues to 1080p and 4K with the same reference caps. A composition that reads correctly here transfers to base 2.0 unchanged when the delivery needs more pixels.

What the Seedance 2.0 Fast API does well

Two tiers, and the references set the ceiling

Two tiers, and the references set the ceiling

resolution takes 480p or 720p and selects the rate tier; it cannot sharpen material that arrived soft. Composing at 480p while the arrangement is still moving is the sensible order, because a reference stack usually needs several attempts before the shot reads, and the settled request can then be run once at 720p.

References carry the real-world detail

References carry the real-world detail

There is no lookup field on this endpoint and photographs make one unnecessary. A picture of the actual product, room or face settles what it looks like far more reliably than a description can, which leaves the prompt free to say what each reference is doing in the shot.

  • No edit endpoint, but clips can be extended

Send a finished clip to the Video Extend endpoint and it continues from the last frame, joined into one video. To cut to a new shot instead, set return_last_frame to true and use that frame as image_url in the next image-to-video request.

  • adaptive follows the leading reference

aspect_ratio defaults to adaptive, which lets the leading reference decide the frame. The six fixed values are there for placements whose shape is already settled, and picking one means the references get fitted into that frame instead of setting it, which is worth saying in the prompt.

  • Reference audio and generated audio are different fields

reference_audio_urls supplies up to three tracks for the scene to match in tempo or delivery. generate_audio is a separate boolean deciding whether the finished clip carries a rendered soundtrack at all, and it stays on by default whether or not any audio reference was sent. Switching it off does not lower the rate on this endpoint either.

  • Keep the seed fixed for a clearer comparison

Keep the prompt, seed, duration and resolution unchanged, then vary one setting at a time. On image-based tasks, reuse the same source images. Compare the staging and motion across a few takes to see whether the change helps.

Who Seedance 2.0 Fast is for

  • Compose at 480p while the arrangement moves

    Composites still being worked out

Compose at 480p while the arrangement moves

Several cheap passes are how you find out which reference is actually governing which part of the frame. Nothing here repairs a delivered clip, so the attempts that cost least are where the reference set gets settled.

  • Name the ratio when the placement is fixed

    Known delivery shape

Name the ratio when the placement is fixed

adaptive follows the leading reference, which is not always the shape a placement needs. Set aspect_ratio directly and use the prompt to say how the subjects should be arranged once the frame has been decided for them.

  • Photograph it instead of describing it

A real product, room or face

Photograph it instead of describing it

Send pictures of the actual set, garment or product and let the prompt handle behaviour. Accuracy of appearance comes out of the file; what the subject does in the shot comes out of the sentence, and mixing the two wastes both.

  • Use a clip when the movement is the reference

    Motion borrowed from footage

Use a clip when the movement is the reference

reference_video_urls accepts up to three clips of 2 to 15 seconds, which is how a camera move or a gesture gets carried into a new shot. Those seconds are billed with the output, so a short clip showing the movement clearly beats a long one.

How to call the Seedance 2.0 Fast API

  1. Assign each file its role inside the prompt

Nothing in the schema labels a reference, so the prompt has to. Write a line that ties each file to a role: who the first image is, what the second one is there for, what a clip is contributing.

  2. Send only the material the shot needs

Nine images is the ceiling, and reaching it is rarely the goal. Every extra file is another thing the model has to reconcile, and a stack with no clear division of labour is the usual reason a composition drifts.

  3. Keep reference clips short

Each reference video counts as at least 2 seconds toward a combined 15-second cap, and those seconds are billed. Trim a clip down to the part that shows the movement before sending it.

  4. Compose at 480p, commit at 720p

resolution sets the rate tier, and the presence of any reference video switches that tier to its separate, lower rate. A multi-reference shot rarely lands on the first attempt, so run the early passes at 480p with the reference set you mean to keep, then rerun the settled request once.

  5. Check the estimate after touching the references

The quote covers the output duration and the reference clip seconds together, so trimming a clip moves it, and adding the first clip or removing the last one also changes the per-second rate. Refresh it before submitting rather than reading the difference off the charge afterwards.

Seedance 2.0 Fast worked examples

  • One character reference, one location reference

  • A visual anchor with a matched audio reference

reference_image_urls fixes the character while reference_audio_urls sets the mood the scene should match.

Keep the character's appearance exactly as shown in the reference image; match the quiet, unhurried mood of the reference audio while they sit reading by a window
  • Motion borrowed from a reference clip

A reference video supplies the camera move and a reference image supplies who is in frame.

Apply the camera movement from the reference video to the person shown in the reference image, walking through a quiet market at dusk

Seedance 2.0 Fast API questions

Composing across three reference types

A multi-reference composition rarely lands exactly right on the first call, and nothing here repairs one detail of a finished clip. Compose at 480p until the arrangement of image, video and audio reads correctly, spend the prompt on stating which reference governs which part of the shot, and commit the approved version once at 720p. Trim reference clips first, since their seconds are billed alongside the output.
